As regards some of the restrictions above, I've seen where they were broken in the space of 5years. night duty, field work for female officers etc, and they do very well Of a truth, this constitution needs a heavy upgrade from 2.0-30.0 Don't want go into the religious aspect even if I smell the undertone there. |

That entire constitution is a joke drawn up by the illiterates from the least accomplished part of the nation. |

You are here crying about the discrimination in the law, how about that in christianity? Eg.... A woman can NEVER EVER be conferred the Role of a Priest, Pope or a Vicar in a catholic/anglican church. Any position of top authority is reserved for men. Even apostle paul says he doesn't permit women to speak in public, that they should KEEP QUIET when Men are talking. You can call it discrimination, I call it "A Mans world" :-) #NB: all these talks of discrimination is all Bull shi-t, there is now law anywhere that says a Man could be a Billionaire & a woman a millionaire. Opportunities abound for both gender, we all should to strive for the best.

What difference has that made. Does that stop any man from loving them or hating them. This trend is what I called mara amfani ne. Women always wanted free things. Despite the so called laws, there are women contesting for chariman of a LG,governorship election etc. So many are doing what Men are doing. Any woman that supports all these trash is a very lazy woman.is another way of being dependent. They always want things done for them.as far as I'm concerned, nobody is restticting anybody of doing anything inspite of what LAW or whatever. O boy if you want your wife to rule over you,its your choice.no one its holding you. |

LucifersTongue:I am neither in support nor against the laws, I am neutral. Before any law can be reviewed,it's pertinent to weigh the pros and cons. And please cut me some slacks on these feminist issue for the fact that a certain law doesn't favour a particular gender doesn't make it wrong. It's just an unbiased insight to societal issues. |

CFCman:Nigerian constitution as it is right now is useless because to me that is a military decree. It need to be discarded and replaced with new constitution. For God's sake why will Nigeria still using constitution written by the military in civilian government no insane country can do that so it's time to sit down and come up with a new constitution that reflect democratic systems of governance not this part military and part democratic systems. |

Chukzyfcb:Sweetheart there is also no law saying a white man could be a billionaire and a black a millionaire, but the reality even in this 21st century tells you otherwise. Sure there is Dangote but after that who else? Do you know how many white billionaires there are? Ponder upon that. |

goingape:You really did not address any point. You sound like a political party supporter. You know those people who say "If you don't like that xyz person is ruling then move to Ghana", when their ideas or opinions are criticized. Or "isn't it your xyz tribe or religion that is getting most of the appointments or full so and so sector" when confronted about discrimination or oppression. Nobody is asking for your manhood. Nobody asked the whiteman to paint his skin black before he learnt to give the black man justice and respect. |

nkemdi89:Listen I'm a woman, but isn't it discriminatory to not vet the spouse of male police officers? They're already enough cases of domestic abuse against men. Don't you think that they should be afforded equal protection and consideration under the police Academy laws? |

lezz:What is positive about.. -not allowing a woman to grant her husband and children citizenship -beating your wife -banning women from working at night -disparate laws applied to female officers I'm waiting. |
| Re: 8 Ways The Constitution/Statutes Discriminate Against Women by MarieSucre(f): 11:50pm On May 22, 2016 |
lezz:I will address your number one directly. I'm guessing you're not opposed to white women giving men and their children citizenship even though they're prone to emotional vulnerability. Seeing that statistics show that men are more prone to pack up and leave the family, maybe for another woman etc. Mothers more than not stay and shoulder the children. That there are lot more single mothers than fathers is a testament to this. Somehow these women who are obviously clear headed and determined for their families suffer from "emotional vulnerability" than the men who bail on them. lolz The hypocrisy is strong with this one. |

MarieSucre:what are you talking about? who is oppressing You? if you still think the white man give justice and respect to the black man then I think something is wrong with your HEAD. why do you think racism is still at is highest peak in the US? haven't you wonder why he was murdered AFTER he pass that slavery law? the female right you are fighting for is nothing but greed and selfishness! you already have all the right but can't use it because ya can't THINK straight and don't have goal in LIfe. do you know what the average female always think About? go to sch, FINISH, and get a rich man who can marry them and sit at home watching TV while the man will come if not probably cook for her. illusion illusion! |

Mikollon1:I went through your profile topics to see if I was giving a redundant advice and to see if you had any post already so I could enlighten myself and contribute but I see you have none. What is the purpose of this your post because in my opinion it did not add to the discourse. Were you trying to detract from the topic? Tell women to shut up about their own and focus on your own? Say the issues outlined by the op are irrelevant? Say it is women's fault that there is still MGm? Pls I want to know. |
| Re: 8 Ways The Constitution/Statutes Discriminate Against Women by MarieSucre(f): 12:15am On May 23, 2016 |
goingape:We are saying the same thing. At least the white man is willing to admit on CNN and Al jazeera that there is a problem. He isn't saying things like. " the black right you are fighting for is nothing but greed and selfishness! you already have all the right but can't use it because ya can't THINK straight and don't have goal in LIfe. do you know what the average black always think About? go to sch, FINISH, and go on the streets and do drugs and gangsta rap and sit at home watching TV while I the white man will work to pay my taxes to maintain the structures and facilities he use. illusion illusion! |

| Re: 8 Ways The Constitution/Statutes Discriminate Against Women by nkemdi89(f): 10:07am On May 23, 2016 |
MarieSucre:The wives of police men are vetted just that it's not pronounced as that of women, the force is interested in whatever will not impede your performance in the job, men dont get pregnant, even as a serving police officer and one of your girlfriend is pregnant and you fail to assume responsibility she has the right to report you to police welfare and they will handle the case. |

MarieSucre:I'm forced to make a comment on this. clearly, the original OP was correct in his observations. so u believe the black struggle in America is exactly what U feminist are fighting for. I'm also struggling hard not to believe that; a greater part of ur gender people (as u want us to regard U see you guys as another constituency) can't comprehend effectively. All feminist are in illusion, illusion! |

orble:Pls can you enlighten me on what you feel women should fight for instead and how it is different from civil rights movement. Its funny how you think that we women see ourselves as another constituency when we are arguing on a topic about a constitution that was entirely composed and compiled by MEN that still uses disparate laws for gender. Or was it women that did a constitution that says "Women cannot pass on their citizenship to their husband and children or a man can beat his wife anyhow he wants" or that policewoman need to jump through hoop holes to get married or women cannot work at night. Delusion! Delusion! |
