Scholes007: I'm pretty sure I've traveled Nigeria than you. Infrastructure is not just buildings hun. If there's any part of Nigeria I've lived that actually has a working public water system, it is Ib. Those areas you think have brown roofs actually have the best roads and highest supply of power, but you wouldn't know that would you? Before I left abj, it only had 2 cinemas and I don't think that has changed much now, ib's got at least 3 besides those theaters for stage drama. That's just an example, not very strong sef. May I ask when you lived in Ib? I didn't use to like Ib myself until ajimobi came into power. Things have really changed here within the last 5 years. 2 Likes |

Izen:. I have no beef against Ibadan neither do I believe I'm more travelled than you , but ranking Ibadan anywhere close to 10 infrastructurally developed city is an insult to Nigeria. When it comes to city road network ibadan has a very poor mark in that when you compared to most cities including Abuja you said you lived in. Access to electricity? There you made some gleering wrong assumption again, every city in Nigeria has some degree of unstable electricity power supply, but when it comes to which has better supply, Ibadan is no were close to the Abuja, lagos, PH or enugu. Water supply? Did you say ibadan has an excellent what supply(at least by Nigerian standard)? Ibadan is just a regular nigerian city when it comes to Night and social life. Better cities like the ones i mention earlier has far better night life. Like i said Ibadan is not and shouldn't yet be among the top 10 infrastructurally develop city in Nigeria. Unless you talking of the very cheap housing and stuffs like that. 1 Like |

You have to consider running water, good roads and electricity stability. a city can be developed and not be an economic center. Yoruba cities do not all have piped water but they all have potable water in form of wells at least. Nowhere has electricity. Some have good road networks, others do not. Osogbo, Ilesa, Calabar, Enugu, Ibadan and etc are better places to live in than Lagos but they do not have the population. PH is one of the worst because of the traffic. In Nigeria, the ranking by economic impoprtance remains Lagos, Ibadan, Kano, PH, Benin and etc. Economic importance means raw value of cities, volume of economic activities and etc. |

Poweredbreww:My pics is intimidating , view this to brightening your morning mod dweller, you are comparing Anambra to Oyo state Both financially and infrastructures Anambra is far ahead, I have shown you financial transactions of both states 2010-2015, Anambra state still gave Oyo gap it's not about how big it's how well, Oyo state has been owing civil servants for months and one of the states that was bailed out by FG Open thread let compare big for nothing state and Anambra in all ramifications. I served in Oyo, I know how poverty held the state hostage.

lawani:You are confused my dear. Ibadan is far ahead of all southwestern state in terms of infrastructure. Even the ancient areas you guys keep posting have better infrastructure (road, water, electricity, hospitals malls, cinema, schools etc) than your own state not to talk of newly built areas. I remember when shoprite open newly in your state the whole state celebrated it cos you guys have never seen anything close to that in your history. The brown roof houses you guys keep posting were built by our great grand fathers in the 50s and 60s when your people were still living in thick bushes and evil forest. Use your head for ones and ask yourself why are there no new houses between the brown roofs it's simply because there are many new areas where modern houses are built. The most important thing is that the brown roof house still have better infrastructure than any area in your beloved anambra and economical more important to Nigeria than anambra. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Ilovemystate: Dummy talking of financial transactions as a measure of development. When civilized people use GDP. Go compare the GDP of Ibadan with any South eastern state an you will be ashamed of where you come from. Ibadan is dragging with major States like kano and portharcourt In top 5 in terms of economy. 1 Like |

Ilovemystate: What do you expect, considering the size of ib to that of anambra, lagos? Ib is too BIG /large not to have more slum than lagos and the rest respectively, but that being said doesn't mean it's not better than the rest in terms of infrastructures. Links below : IBADAN Ibadan is the capital city of Oyo State and the third largest metropolitan area, by population in Nigeria, In 2006 population census the city had up to 1,338,659 has the total population after Lagos and Kano, But as of recent report the city has a population of over 3 million, popular estimation states Ibadan has 3,500,000 as of 2016 Ibadan is also the largest metropolitan geographical area. At Nigerian independence, Ibadan was the largest and most populous city in the country and the third in Africa after Cairo and Johannesburg. Our 2016 estimates puts the city's population at 4,000,000 Lagos State accounted for the largest share of active voice subscribers with 19.04 million or 12.8% of the total, followed by Ogun State with 8.53 million subscribers or 5.7%, Kano State with 7.81 million or 5.25%, Oyo State with 7.53 million subscribers or 5.06% of the total, then FCT and Rivers State with 6.03 million (4.05%) and 5.84 million (3.93%) respectively. It is observed that four of the top five States (Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Kaduna) with respect to active voice subscriptions had total subscribers in excess of their official population number as provided by the Nigerian Population Commission as shown in table 3 except for Kano and Rivers whose official population figures exceeded the number of active voice subscribers at the end of q1 2016. https://www.nairaland.com/3114368/nigerian-states-number-registered-phone#45762365 https://www.nairaland.com/3118564/most-populated-cities-nigeria-2016 But here, you almighty Onitsha https://www.nairaland.com/3102772/world-health-organization-ranks-onitsha 2 Likes |

Ilovemystate: lol...You can see Enugu,Abuja,Lagos in the list and all these states are fathers to Anambra.Your whole Anambra which is not up to 3 GRA in Ibadan still has slums. The only state that can boast a little beside Ibadan in the East is Enugu but it will continue to bow a long time if you really understand the meaning of infrastructures. 1 Like |

Ilovemystate: Dummy, you are really dull to use financial transactions as a measure of valuing development when knowledgeable people use GDP. No southeastern state is close to Ibadan in terms of economy. Ibadan is always in top 5 in Nigeria contesting with major cities like kano and port-harcourt. Financial transactions is used by banks and is not a way of measuring economy or development. Withdrawing N5000 and depositing it back 5 times doesn't mean you have N25,000 but as long as bank is concerned, you have done a transaction worth N25,000. Igbo are mainly into trading which requires lots of withdrawals and deposit. You need to pay for this free education. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Billiondoe:I first of all flip through to access the orangutan that is blabbing against Niger Delta....At first instance your comment is as silly as you may look.....secondly i don't know the yard stick you use to measure Niger Delta.....Some one should tell you that ND is not a state but a region of states that have different affinity....Is an affront for you to classify ND as UN-educated , Lazy, lack trade initiative....that shows a high level of illiteracy on your own part because if you are educated or being inform you will know that state like EDO, DELTA & AKWA IBOM are so much educated with historical prints.....highly industrious and talking about trade it seems you are so blind not to know that Sewing which seems to be a norm in the west is not the only trade one can learn and i notice you have no knowledge of other trades like welding/fabrication, NDT, Hydro testing/pressure testing, Blasting/painting, Coating, Boat fabrication and fibre-boat, insulation, Diving, Rope access and a lot more that you could never imagine.....and these group of artisans are far richer than those your Profs living in red roofs....stop throwing stones on glass house if have no knowledge about the damages it can cause...get sense and criticize constructively on issues that will move the nation forward.......don't claim west are more educated....i serve in osun state Ipetu Ijesa to be precise....i took Ipetu ijesa grammar school in physics SS1-3 and Intro tech JSS1-3, I perform chemistry practicals for Arodo High school as my extra curricular, i taught physics and math as extra murals for Famous new day college, tayelolu memorial college.....so i know the academic prowess of the osun people....i know places like owena, ifelodun, obokun, Ikirun, Ilesha, Ijebu Ijesa, Ede, osogbo, okitipupa and ore in ondo state....so don't preach west for me ok.....apart from private schools those in the public schools there are egg head and you people knows that, remember when Bisi akande was governor and decided to sack thousand of teachers for having degrees in Yoruba, history and home economics....keep deceiving yourselves when we are strategizing....baseless argument |

Ilovemystate: Dummy, Igbos are mainly traders that buy and sell on a daily basis, when they sell they deposit and when they want to buy they withdraw. The circle keeps repeating on a daily basis, my friend that is not a measure of development or wealth. If I withdraw N5000 from Bank and bought a shoe for N4500 which I later sold for N5000 and deposited it back to the bank the same day, financial transaction for that day is recorded as N10,000 but I truly don't have that amount in reality. Imagine repeating the same thing on a daily basis and tell me what my financial transaction will be for a week not to talk of a month. You just reason, how will anambra's financial transactions be higher than Lagos, port-harcourt, kano, Ibadan, ogun or Kaduna. These are the states with the highest GDP contributions in Nigeria. If anambra is that wealth Igbos won't be rushing down to Lagos and other South Western States on a daily basis. 2 Likes |
