A Solution To The Niger Delta Avengers And Niger Delta Plight by sandraokosun1: 12:25am On May 27, 2016
I have been observing the current activities of the niger delta avengers, and i want to in my view profer what i belive is a solution not just to this menance but to the the burning issues surrounding the Niger delta.

Without trying to take sides with either a side that feels it is payback time to distabilize this government to justify the adage that what you sow you reap.

Or another side that feels the restive bodies should be ignored or dealt with.

I dont want to also dwell in details on what the avengers really want which we hear entails
RENEGOCIATION OF OIL BLOCKS
FREEDOM OF NNAMDI KANU. Etc

No matter the political colouration this demands denote one thing is certain their is a DEMAND.

And i only want to recognise the
RENEGOCIATION OF OIL BLOCKS AS PERTINENT because no matter the party affiliation that is the major issue you would want to think partains to the Niger deltans amongst other things.

These oil blocks were issued and assertained for some time before now dating to the 80's, 70's.
In as much as that doesn't become a concern to address a pertinent issue at anytime deemed fit as long as its tangled with a bit of sincerity/purpose with no alterior motive to primary distabilise a government on grounds of political agradisements and financial blackmail.

Enough attention has been raised if this was solely for recognition adventure.
The government has said it would engage with the aggrieved bodies and is no reason to doubt it wouldn't at a time when it needs all it can get.

If genuine the signals has been sent and their is no need floging a dead horse when the rip effect of such actions doesnt just affect a section of the country but even worst hit the places of the aggrieved persons who not only get hit by ecomomic halt, but more pollution and degradation of an already bleeding environment.

For how long would aggrieved niger deltans see destruction of pipelines as the only way to draw attention to their plight.

The Famous ogoni group led by saro wiwa, never sabotaged their communities in a bid to make a statement, they rather drew the world to their plight by constructive superior allignment with priniciples, and they were at the verge of getting things done if not for the unfortunate remembrance that it was in a military regime which is adverse to anything in the form of opposition in ideas and principles.

Those years gone by and not a group can still be half effective as the famous ogoni's.

The reason to this cannot be far fetched.
What we find today is majorly an hijack of what ought to be genuine struggle for financial blackmail and political agradisements to armtwist a certain government.

The results of which have seen even geniune struggles mistaken for a group sponsored to carryout nefarious activities so as to get justified big pay cheques to their sponsors who inturn guarantees safety of pipeline facilities.
A case of giving a thief money for safekeeping.

This trend has continued overtime giving non-available state funds to most group who has found it lucrative to hire boys to destroy pipeline and armtwist government all in the name of civil activism.

Worst still these monies gained overyears by the sponsors activist are not used to develop their lands but used to build universities outside the countries, and investments outside the communities they claim to speak for, only more guns and peanuts end up in the hands of youth predisposed to them.

What can be done?

A new re-awaeking for government to start taking the Niger Delta affairs serious.

People have talked about national dialouge, but to be sincere this is Nigeria.
We know how the last national confab went, if anything it has opened the eyes of Nigerians to see the forces holding the country together, and how they dictate what should and should not be discussed, including having a pronouncement on the final outcome on what was tabled down.

Those same forces are aged long and still truthfuly dictactes how aggitation from any particular region is given preference, even when a president from the niger delta was elected it still didnt change the fundamentals and basics of the general aggitations of the Niger deltans which was only suppressed with contracts and the decision of overlook many grey areas with the notion of compensation that he is "our son" lets not spoil his government.

I dare say compensations, pity, contracts that benefit a handful can only suppress the grief for a while but the reality can only be solved and not bribed.

Vandalism and pipeline destruction if guineue too cannot solve the issue but bring about hardship to all.

The only solution is for the Niger delta and indeed the ss to speak in one voice and start acting up to the tag which it so much desires the nation to address it as "the nation's pride.

You dont get treated as a bride when you dont act suchway.

I borrow this lesson from the last general election and how the south west had position it self with pride to become the envy of all.

Despite the all in all and machinery of billions pumped to secure its love.
The region took all that money and still allinged with the party it felt represented its ideas and interests.
None can doubt today how proper allinging has entrenched their values, interest and representation in decisions and policy taken to the envy of others.

How much more the golden bride niger delta can do much more, enough of this disrespect, the region should carry itself with dignity and stop the every state for itself attitude.

It shares similar interests above all in the NDDC.
It should start acting as one when IT COMES TO NATIONAL INTEREST.

The biggest grandeur towards national interest is 80% in election which represents the most profound way a government comes into power where the new awakeing would see the Niger delta taking shape and dictacting the role it expects from a government before backing it, even if it chooses to stick with the previous option not considering another direction atleast their should be a renegociation in the way it firmly expects to be treated with its issues at the front burner.

Niger delta problems can be solved if it is serious about it.
It problems remains unsolved simply because government after government feels it doesnt kown its right ie the ODI EXAMPLE, or that a few contracts can close the voice of a certain few.

The onion is on the Niger deltans to speak in one accord and become a true region rather than a coglomerates of states.

The nation is about Interests

seun, laslatical,mynd44 pls you guys should help take this tablet pill to fp to purge some issues

I personally blame Buhari for the current crisis in the region. Like in most African countries, there were already existing cracks within the country's fabrics which were expanded by the last general election. What a sensible leader that genuinly has the unity of the country at heart and sees everyone as equal should have done immediately after the elction, was to make deliberate efforts for the entire country to forget the election, forge a common front and move the country forward. Alas! Buhari started seeing himself as a conqueror that has people that he sees as his enemies that must be dealt with and treated with disdain, and those that are 'his people'. The most stupid thing he did was the '97% 5%' comment he made on an international television and his subsequent actions, carrying on with the feeling that he could intimidate and threating anyone, group or region without being challenged simply because he has some idiots who didn't understand the rudiments of governance that were always cheering him on.

He felt he could take from Peter and give to Paul simply because Paul voted for him, and Peter did not. In every sane society, once someone is elected, you forget about who voted for you and who did not. Infact in trying to implement your programmes that made people to vote for you, you also try to see how you can make those who did not vote you, to see you differently in the next election. So he decided from the begining that he wanted to rule a divided country and that is what he is getting now.
