This is what Nigerians deserve for allowing a bunch of political desperadoes blind their eyes, despite the fact that gej wasn't the best yet buhari wasn't the better alternative .

May God help us in this country.

God is laughing his arse off since our globe-trotting Jet-flying pastors sold his congregation on the alter of Satan. We shall suffer the consequences of being blind and clueless.

Stop misinforming people @OP, United Airline has never been in Nigeria. It is a US airline and I have flown to the US with it a couple of times. The company stopped coming to Nigeria because of low patronage.

This has little to do with economy but majorly with the traffic of people going and coming.[/s]

United has been in Nigeria. Actually it was the cargo and not the passenger numbers that were sustaining the route. Now that imports are down. They cannot maintain the route. Do you now understand what the economy has to do with it

Have taken that flight few times and that's a shame. What's happening to Nigeria for heavens sake ?. Nigeria deserves better that all these worthless leadership with no sense of direction. It's time Nigeria starts rising up against Buhari as they did against Jonathan.

No. They did not partner any airline.
You can check their web site:

You can also ask around to verify.
Cheers.

Dude, I said that in 2011. And I only flew them to London once.

Since then they have done more interesting stuff to those who dared to fly them outside Nigeria. Like the fellas in below video:

The video is of the flight on the ground BEFORE take-off.
It is not unusual that there will be some heat as the air conditioners are usually run with the plane's engine working.
This is why the airlines minimise the time for passengers to sit IDLE in the plane before they start the engine for take-off.
A little patience and understanding on the part of the passengers would have prevented making an already bad situation worse.

BTW, do you know how we will grow our economy/country if we do not go through these hardships and make IMPROVEMENTS as we steadily PROGRESS our development

This is becoming unbearable! It baffles me that in this 21st century and the rate of nationalists we have , one person or group of people can hold this country to ransom.

BROS, you no read where dem talk say the route has underachieved for YEARS? blame, blame united.....Those you think are holding the cpountry to ransome are those digging us out of this mess, Olisah Metuh your relation just promised to return PDP, while Deziani is also negotiating in the UK how to refund money.

Do you now agree that Arik flies INTERNATIONAL routes, including direct to New York?
Why would you not advice your enemies to fly Arik?
Would you advise your enemies to buy or use anything that YOU make/sell as a Nigerian?
Could you please check and share the meaning of HYPOCRITE
Thanks.

How comes this info is only on their website?
How comes its not anywhere on GDS? (Amadeus, galileo or even serba?)
Get lost

LOL.
I admire the idealism and patriotism and whatnot. But not actually going to engage you on that.
I'd rather educate you about aviation procedures, which I know a bit about. This particular incident I know about intimately.

1. There is an Auxilliary Power Unit (APU) in the tail of every aircraft, which powers AC, lighting, instruments, and other avionics, while the aircraft is not in service.

2. When they start loading people and goods, they plug in a Ground Power Unit (GPU) which provides power to light above.

3. They only disconnect GPU and start engines when they are ready to be towed away from the gate. In fact, they don't even start engines until the plane is ready to move in forward direction. Planes can't reverse.

In this particular episode, there were some ground-related issues, as well as delayed clearance for takeoff (documentation issues). What you do normally in that case is, you keep the GPU plugged in so AC can keep working. On this flight, they took the GPU away and switched off AC for 2 hours plus, because the APU would drain if you use airconditioning.

So the blowout you witnessed was after 120+ minutes of waiting. I take many many flights, and delays are not uncommon from MMA, prior to take off. Even at Heathrow sef, BA is notorious for keeping Nigerians waiting. I'm yet to see a BA London-Lagos flight that takes off on time. But to decide to bake people for two hours Haba mallam.

Thank you for the education.
However, I don't think you said anything different from what I said as I acknowledged that the situation was BAD and the reaction of the passenger made it worse as they would have generated more heat with all the hassles instead of identifying a (group) of spokespersons to talk with the airline staff to find a solution.
I also said the time on board the plane should have been minimised to reduce the inconvenience of the heat as they were probably looking to save fuel/energy costs.
All in all, we are not far from each other.
Cheers.
