Thanks sinebaba. Nigerians are somewhat funny.
When people notice you are selling @ ridiculously low price and still make profit, they feel you are spoiling their businesses. The fact that I chose to sell my gift card @265 and even Lower than that does not make it fraudulent. Afterall I got them when Stanbic bonanza was up @208. Why will I then sell what I got @ that 208 for over 300 naira. That to me is unfair and I will never do such.

Away from that, the guy who posted his testimony is a medical practitioner in osun while I a banker In Lagos. I am suprised why the time of my registration and his has got anything to do with his gift card. Sinebaba came to my office the first time but late( cos I already sold before he came) which made me apologise to him on phone.

For the record I will always sell @ cheap price no matter people's opinion. People who know me and my office can come ad arrest me anytime.

Don't tell me you are the Gabriel that works in GTBank cox I don try reason your monicker teytey but I no just see you as active member

GTB did something bad to me. On the 24th I purchased items online and was charged @317 per PayPal dollar After the purchase I had 11 thousand naira on my account. 2 days later they sent me the alert and they charged me based on the exchange rate of the day they sent me the alert being 325 per dollar. When I now checked my account, I discovered that they had deducted a further 4k, leaving my account at 7k. Now, when I went to the bank to complain, I discovered that My bank statement had been doctored. It shows that the transaction was made on the 24th, but it didn't show any deduction made that day, it now showed that the deduction was made on the 26th hence the charge of 325 per dollar. But in fact, my account was debited the day I made that transaction but their system didn't show the amount debited from my account that day i made the transaction. Please how do I go about this issue because this issue is really painful to Ms

GTB issues MasterCard. There is a time delay of 24 to 48 hours for the transaction to be finalized culminating in the debiting of your account. With each use of the GT MasterCard, an instant SMS/e mail motidication of an "equivalent amount of dollars authorized for transaction" usually follows. The actual deduction in naira occurs a day after. You may still approach the desk CSR or preferably call their Custocare as you may have enough reasons to convince 'em and establish a case of "doctoring" as you put it.

That being said, it is apparent Ecobank is a fraud and has been fraudulent since time immemorial. All refunds I got back into my account were apparently returned at an exchange rate far below the CBN 198/dollar rate, whereas when the transactions were conducted, the bank charged me at 230 NGN to the dollar. The closest notification to a refund I get is that of a charge on the money that is being returned to me, not the actual amount.

These charges per refund include POS fee and VAT on POS fee. This appears to be a percentage of the refunded amount and it occurs on each of the refunds even if it is 50 cases of refunds. Meanwhile other banks, especially GTB and Stanbic are always explicit on the exact amount refunded into the account and without extra charges.

Has anyone experienced this with Ecobank? How do you suggest I go about seeking redress?

Painful part is that I use a number of banks for hundreds of such transactions, so it is even difficult to track all the ones conducted on Ecobank since unlike GTB or Stanbic or Heritage, they will not send a notification on the dollar amount authorized for transaction, just a naira equivalent days after.

I don't think there is anything you can do o, lol. The settlement was done on 26th,and that was the day you were 'actually' charged. You will notice that after transaction on 24th,there is difference between your book balance and the main balance. It means the money was put on hold, not actually debited like you think. It takes 0-48hrs before the settlement is done. The day you received alert was when you were charged and unfortunately exchange rate was 325 that day, they won't charge you lower.

That is the price we have to pay for having a so volatile, unstable and exchange exchange rate that is jumping every day. Banks using it to there advantage too

So are you saying that if the exchange rate had gone down to eg 270 on the 26th, they would have credited my account?

Most likely. GTB show some level of liberty and sanity that are hard to come by in places like Zenith, Ecobank and UBA when it comes to forex policies.

GTB credit my account with refunds according to their prevailing exchange rate. If it's gone up as at the time of refund, I make gains. If lower, well, no price in 9ja really comes down once it goes up.
