Does anyone have any tips or tricks in growing vegetable leaf? My husband and I currently live in Northwest USA and it is impossible to find or purchase. We had some seeds sent to us, so I may include them in our garden, last year I managed to get it to grow, but the leaves were small. I know our short growing season and cooler weather is a factor, but is there something special that I should be doing with it |

sorepco: Yes you are true it is subsistence farming, but believe me , you have to start somewhere. I know of people that started what you will call subsistence businesses in the nineties, people were laughing at them, today they have businesses turning over millions of naira employing at least 20 persons. The moral of the story better start something now no matter how small, work it hard watch it grow, much better than waiting to get the millions to get started . keep up the good work guys. “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” - Martin Luther King, Jr., pastor, activist, humanitarian and Civil Rights leader. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." - Chinese proverb Totally agree with your statement, at Jessam Cattle Ranch and farms we started from humble beginnings, we are taking baby steps till we can walk properly. thankfully we have done our baby steps and have progressed to firm strides. We enjoy our business, love our workers and cherish our customers. Any way jessam cattle ranch & farms wants to a major player in the meat industry and help stop the importation of cheap, rotten, chemical induced meat from being dumped in Nigeria, often slowly ruining our health . Nice one bro keep it up. My suggestion: please try and buy clothing and boots appropriate for farming, for safety reasons. I know that things are expensive but am sure the benefits out weighs the cost. Good luck. |

Very nice move. good work op. I think one of the problems with Nairaland and how Seun runs it is that it is being run like a blog rather than NAIRALAND! Won't be nice if more nairalanders are encouraged to open new threads of their startups with pictures of what they've been able to achieve pushed to frontpage weekly or monthly rather than bore us with news of some pantless Ghanaian LovePeddler or whether Wizkid got some slutt pregnant or not...It's a shame the Nl i met in 2007 has gone to the dogs all in the name of staying relevant. Seun i hope you still remember your first domain name in 2005 and what you planned to use it for before dropping it for nairaland 1 Like |

Agriculture can be very profitable if you work hard. The notion that you have to be employed to be successful is misleading. |

sorepco: Actually u are entitled to yer own opinion but this yer advice is out of it...why?? Any farming that is beyond provide for yourself and family is commercial farming be it small scale or large scarle,is OP aim to provide for himself or to generate income??so,it is commercial farming not subsistence farming as far as his aim is to generate income for himself. Moreover, u are talking about 21st century so it must be highly mechanized or having a mechanized equipment. Where did u want an undergraduate that has been in Labour market over the years to see money to engage in mechanised farming. Or he should be waiting for loan from government that has just removed subsidy on fertilizer some weeks ago,pls eraze any help from Nigerian government for now except if u are damn lazy. I just don't know the way some people reason nowadays, u can't discourage someone when he has already sort out another alternative to build is career. He has starts from somewhere even if it is a plot of land very soon by God's grace he will he will be planting on hectares of Land. Don't think of wat government will do for u but think of what you can do to help yourself and society and learn how to encourage others. @OP,I wish yer massive success ahead.... 4 Likes 2 Shares |
