I love your initiative. Though cassava is no longer planted at an angle. just plant it vertically so that the tubers can spread in the soil without sprouting out. Plant on the hip or ridges this way ↓ 2 Likes |

In my neighbourhood almost every space that was occupied by grasses has been turned to farm yard and pple are serious looking for more empty spaces to convert them to farm lands. there is hope for this country as more and more pple are beginning to do one or two legitimate activities to support the economy, while the fools will wait for Buhari to come and do everything for them while the do nothing. |

OP, if you see any wandering herdsman with his cattle, look to Fayose's words and take action to safeguard your investment. Do not hesitate to go to work on their cattle. If a herdsman eats your livelihood, do not hesitate to take his. Simple! |

Learn the planting calendar. Plant during the planting season and harvest during the harvesting season. Otherwise your plants will disrespect you. Keep track of your clients/customers you intend to sell to and watch your farm. Plan your harvest and transportation of crops on time. Don't let produce pile up in your hands. 3 Likes |

Amazing get and go attitude, Building a business is definitely not an easy task; it’s a process most people dread because of the challenges involved and that’s why many people would rather remain employees. So for taking a bold step into starting your own business; you’ve really proved your guts. Building a successful business from scratch is simply all about surmounting challenges; nothing more, nothing less. No successful entrepreneur has had a smooth ride to the top and none ever will. The challenges, disappointment and failures will always be there; it’s the manner you handle them that determines whether you will succeed or not. I started Jessam cattle Ranch and Farms with the same spirit you guys have, to not wait for the Government inorder to better myself and family, today Totally agree with your statement, at Jessam Cattle Ranch and farms we started from humble beginnings, we are taking baby steps till we can walk properly. thankfully we have done our baby steps and have progressed to firm strides. We enjoy our business, love our workers and cherish our customers. Our aim at Jessam cattle ranch & farms is to be a major player in the meat industry and help stop the importation of cheap, rotten, chemical induced meat from being dumped in Nigeria, often slowly ruining our health . Slow and steady jessam will grow to be a strong brand in food industry. Let me use this opportunity to introduce you to jessam Cattle Ranch and Farm. We are based in Enugu and Owerri. That way you will become a sure millionaire in not to distant time. But make sure you are on the watch for those wanderers.. May God keep their ways from your farm.. Congratulations. My guy this is not agriclture but subsistence farming?! When we talk of agriculture in the 21st century we need something more than this to make it more attractive to the younger generation and more profitable. Viz: Government should provide micro credit facilities. Fg should encourage the creation of cooperatives in these agric growth poles. As well as encourage these cooperatives grow even bigger. Government should dedicate agricultural growth poles in all the senatorial districts. Government should provide the infrastures to help sustain these growth poles. Such as farm to market roads so that foods dont get damaged while being transported. Irrigation facilities all year round for the crops. Fg to build cold rooms in these senatorial growth poles as well for perishable goods...dairy products...processed meet or chicken or fish. Fg to also encourage specialisations in these poles i.e. NEspecialise in animal husbandary and processed meat products. North central in vegetables and fruits as well as leaves co. North West on vegetables as well as well as madsive rice paddies. Beans. Groundnuts etc. SW to specialise cocoa and a government built chocolate factory. And also on cassava and rice paddies and fish farms. South east on palm kernels and groundnut oil processing plants and also corn and allied products. While the SS is focus on fisheries and rice paddies on am industrial scale. They should all engage in tomato productions as well for obvious reasons. Of course this should on a mechanised scale and not hand to mouth like op suggested! My 2 kobo Wisdomkosi: |
