Goddamit! What nonsense is this?
CCTV? Is that an achievement? Gosh!
Ehn! Critical assets?
What are the critical assets he is talking about here please? A-jets, F7s, ATRs what else? Rubbish.

Honestly, when i saw the topics, i was expecting to read something about ,S300(antey 2500), Radar or Pantsir S1 or something from the Chinese to protect the crafts.
They are critical in the fight against BH. Losing them would be a huge loss in capability.

What capability are you talking about? The one to face BH or to deter "outside" aggressor(s)? Armed drones can do the work those "coffins" are doing with better accuracy.
Are NAF assets meant to deter terrorist or Nation-actors? Infact, the loss of those "death traps" to either downing or mechanically/unservicable/irreparable/unusable stage or state, will FORCED Nigeria and MOD to scramble money and get us so benefiting Assets that can actually deters and bite.
To hell with those critical assets that are making the progress of NAF difficult.

The S300,panstir s1 and other air defence system are good & critical assets, but the question his are we fighting a conventional war now, don't get me wrong am not saying we do not need these things right now. But let's get our priorities right for now.

I think the airforce needs multirole fighter jets, attack helicopters, drones & better ISR platforms.

Am aint saying we dont need the listed "stuff", but, if you fail to plan AHEAD, you are already a failure. No military have time to buy weapons during conflict, except those into production of it in-house.
Peace-time is the appropriate time to get yourself equipped and up your ante.
Egypt isn't fighting a war neither is Algeria--those are our african neighbours.
Dont get me wrong, am not against the installation of CCTVs at the base, it just doesnt add up that they could be celebrating the installation like it is a new technology.
You saw the caption yourself, dont you? Shouldn't we be looking more at the procurement and deployment of IADS and ADS?? Even if it is just Pantsir s1 alone that they bought, i would have celebrated with them, because i know those "coffins" and "eagles" will surely have their protection in that base increased to atleast 76%.
Even all what you listed, are they not "Conventional" deployment? ISR, Multi-role jets, attack helicopters, drones etc?

Bidexiii made a good submission on this matter. I don't agree that the presentation is something the CAS or CDS should attend, however the assets we have and can deploy are very critical assets.

There are drones, Helicopters, Fighter jets and Transport planes in those bases.

Do we have a threat requirement for assets like the S300 or a chinese equivalent at this time?

Egypt has Israel

Algeria has Morocco

Who does Nigeria have?

Multiple internal insurrections do not require S-300s to defeat them. All the equipment listed by Bidexii are stuffs we have and continue to order.

A country buys what it needs, not what it wants.

Nobody can even give a good reason why Nigeria should spend over $1 billion on an Air Defence System like the S-300?

Lol... Funny guy. And the "critical assets", how will honker and cctv defend them? I know you aint having a problem with assimilation and comprehension Bro, so just say things the way they should.
I wasn't saying what Oga Bidexii listed are not what we already have, i am only saying it is very demeaning that they are speaking of using cctv and honkers to defend a base. And you are the one that know where i said s300 or its equivalent will deter internal insurrections. I dont think i was making reference to either BH or NDA in my earlier posted comments, i was only submitting my opinion on the topic of commisioning honkers and cctv for base defense.
Please, dont twist my words and dont mis-interpret them.

Really? gringrin You plan to buy JF17s and host of others and they need no protection?
Your ATRs, CH3s, A-jets, F7s and others assets(including the runways) need no protection as well right? That's what NAF called "critical assets" which they are trying to protect from ONLY ground invasion.
Even as it stands, am not advocating for s300, i only cited s300, pantsir and any equivalent as what i thought NAF are deploying for base protection. Why are you shifting the goal post?
Is IADS for Nigeria too much to ask? Why do we display a "pigmy" attitude when it comes to defense?
You better start saving for the raining season--the weather is unpredictable.

That kinda "dwarf" intellect is what is keeping Nigeria back from her glory. Why dont you buy food everything you are hungry, why are you stockpiling Foodstuff in the store room? Are you not buying and stockpiling because of your WANT and not because of your NEED?
Two pantsir(or its equivalent) atleast a base will give those "assets" better protection than those honkers. My Opinion Though.
I am not an ardent commentator here but i follow every threads and pages. Dont bring this kinda "atti" of shifting and twisting narrative here Bro. We both know am not advocating for S300, SO DONT MAKE IT LOOK LIKE AM SAYING WE NEED S300 TO DEFEAT BH AND NDA-- Because i've noticed that's where you are currently heading the arguement to. I cant just rejoice over mediocrity. Snapping pictures and cutting ribbons over installation of cctv(s) and induction of Honker scorpions isnt what i expected. I believe comprehension and assimilation isn't a problem sire.
I'M DONE WITH THE ARGUEMENT SIRE. Can we move on please?

Panstir mobile air system is basically designed for shot air range threats not for possible ground threats.....n. huh

What we need to secure our airforce base and it's assets are "ground surveillance radars"........ shocked

Panstir for defending assets from ground threats is totally out of point!!!!!!!!!!!

I know most of us feel that as Africans we are not doing enough in terms of Military Procurement and spending and as such we may not be able to occupy our rightful place in the committee of nations, that is very wrong. What African states need for now is not to go into war with any other state as this would greatly erode the little progress we have made economically and infrastructurally, what Africa needs for now is to develope its industries, its economy and its democracy. To be scincere there is presently no African Nation that can fully sponsor a full scale modern war not Egypt( egypt may end up not being able to field half of her assets in a war situation due to financial constraints and serviceability), not Algeria, not Nigeria and definitely not The South Africans. Modern warfare is expensive and dangerous and African Nations are not even developed enough to go into a world war 2 type conflict not to talk of modern warfare with all the innovations in military tech accompanied.

We do should not be talking about Air Defense or any asset that is suggestive of conventional adventurism because we are not there yet. The Chinese were backward during world war 2 but that does not mean they are still backward, they focused on building industries and their economy and what we see now is as a result of that commitment.

What I am saying is we can never be too strong as Africans unless we build our economies and industries. African states must seek for peaceful solution to their disputes with themselves and other states because we are not just there Militarily and we have no business being there Militarily for now.

You are wrong bro. The Nigerian government have shown its support for Innoson right from the time of Goodluck Jonathan. The current administration have done great PR for Innoson too. In fact, Innoson manufactures new parts for Nigeria's Alpha jets. Tribalism doesn't work in the NAF again. That was a thing of the past, except for some low level officers.

Through but we will never be able to develop our economies without reasonable defense forces. Libya makes a very good example. Think of what could have happened to Iran without it's strong military background. Look at Russia in the 90s. Russia was weak economically, but how did Russia manage to get back? In this world if ours, a strong military is not an option. You need it.

True. But no one would listen or play the diplomacy card with you if you don't give them a reason to. Syria is a fine example. The idiots in Washington refused to listen to Putin for 3-4 years. But when the Sukhoi family of jets started pounding Daesh in Syria what happened? Kerry became a regular tourist at the Kremlin. And Iran is a very diplomatic country. Iran have large political power in the Middle East and it knows its value to Russia, and it is utilizing that pretty well.
