OrlandoOwoh:No doubt that the Ijaw and other riverine people in the south of Nigeria adopted European names. But that does not mean they submitted themselves to imperialism. To give you an example of the Ijaw fight against British, Google the 'Akasa war'. You will read where the Ijaw chief of Nembe attacked the British garrison in Akasa, sacked the place and took over 60 British prisoners, 40 of which were later executed. The British later launched a counter attack and drove the Nembe chief into exile. |

attackgat:All groups fought the Europeans. Could you tell us why the Ijaw people dropped their names for those of the Europeans? |

If an educated Fulani man can equip his cattle rearers with AK 47 just to kill people because of cow what would have happened if they own Oil in their states? |

Noneroone:Exactly. There's a difference between oil producing states and South south states. For example, edo people has more in common with southwest than crossrivers people who have more in common with Igbos. The south south states are majorly Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta. Except for a few communities in delta(Anioma) and Rivers(Ikwere) who have more in common with Igbos including similar language. The answer is simple , Cross river has no oil field , the only oil producing community was bakassi which is located away from the state, akwa ibom oil producing communities are remote islands located away from the state. They dont get to see the damage done to their environments and note the governors of these two states do their best to improve their states unlike bayelsa, delta where the governors and leaders just collect money from the oil companies and share with their families, they dont care about their people. This is the genesis of the ND crises, the leaders rather prefer to brainwash their people to think govt is eating all their oil money. ![]() |

Why was now nddc has them inclusive in their programs? Why are they categorized as South South, ? Was it because of political manipulations? I mean those initial States that I earlier mentioned? I need more clarification. I have stayed in the creeks of bayelsa and average ijaw man don't believe in working, but believe that they own oil? I think it is part of why it is highly volatile. 4stylz:I couldn't help but wonder, in my working place, just realized that every single security man is from Akwaibom/cross River axis. their government really needs to do alot. many people don't realize that the lost of Bakkassi Peninsula to cameroun ended cross river's interest in oil exploration. |

HEIR:. Thanks for your post. However, you shouldn't waste your time educating hypocrites who claim to be patriotic citizens of a country they know next to nothing about. You should allow them to continue wallowing in their ignorant ethnocentric filth. Most sane people are no longer moved by their divide and ruin antics. Yesterday, Igbos are the problem, today Ijaw are evil. Yet these clowns want to remain in the same country with these evil people. Tell me if this is not lunacy. |

priceaction:It was clearly political manipulation. Any level minded person that looks at the map of Nigeria, will question why crossriver is a south-south state instead of Southeast.
