Here's my take
You have to lay great attention to detail so that
1) the rpm of the engine is not too much for the alternator
2) the charging current of the alternator is high enough for your battery best charging current
3)the shaft from the engine that will go into the alternator is absolutely straight.

But I don't see it as an economical project because you still need to get fuel to run the alternator in order to charge the batteries, the most important thing is to charge your batteries spending the smallest possible amount, hence GENCO (abi NEPA or PHCN) source or renewable energy source.

Thanks but the engine is rated 2hp (3600 rpm) small tiger generator engine it doen't consume fuel (2 litres do give us 6hrs of electricity)

I guess the alternator should be able to work at such RPM, having a perfect connection will be determine the level of success.

Thank you bro! I didn't check this on time
ceejay80s:
Check the number of the man that sells smart charger on page 1,2or3 . Ur ups is 24v, it will work, just buy the 24v smart charger an buy 2 batteries. U can buy 2 pieces of 100ah battery or 2pieces of 150ah or 2piece of 200ah batteries, or 2piece of 75ah batteries.
U must use 2 batteries on it and both batteries must be connected in series, check google image on how to connect in series

Ok...
But when u use upto 40% of the battery, how long does it take to fully charge back that 40% u used ?

I don tire for oyimbo theory, I wan do practical..

For my setup of 260ah battery, when fully charged can take my appliances days ,if I manage (putting of what I don't need)
Ur battery is 100ah and mine is 260ah , I will go for ur own setup cos its cheaper, it will give my 260ah battery the same charge it gives to ur 100ah, weda my battery is fully charged or not , the 40-80% charge it will give my battery is already ok to take till the next day ,until when sun light comes back , at least its better than not seeing nepa light in 3-4 days, but sun must come for another charge the following day,
I hope u guys are following?

If 200 or 150w mono panel. And 30amp solar controller charger can give a 260ah battery charge for alt least 50-60%. Charge for that day alone ,which u only need in the evening and night.
What do u think?

In theory
40% of 12v 100ah battery is 40%(12*100)= 480wh.
That means Elvis10ten uses about 480wh which he regains before noon.
So I'll suggest you calculate your daily wh consumption to have an idea of your daily need in order to size your panel appropriately.

Good morning room, my brother gave me a 200amp battery as a birthday gift about 3weeks ago, the battery has been giving me wahala since then as it does not last for more than 30 minutes, but I came across ceejay's post yesterday about adding distilled or rain water to a malfunctioning battery which I did and it has bounced back to life now, using it for 3hrs plus now. A big thank u to ceejay80 for that post. Gracias

Just hope I can get a used or new 200w mono solar for 20k I go happy die, still searching.......

why not buy a 20amps smart battery charger of 9k..if u decide to go for solar panel and controller, it will cost u 45k for 200watts mono panel and 10k for PWM solar charge controller. total 55k,excluding wires and installation cost.

I don't think the smart charger can charge car batteries, i've tested it before on it and it didn't charge , somebody else confirmed it here,

Another person fit try

What's d Watt rating and proposed runtime of your fan?
But I doubt your car battery will need more than 80w to charge it fully on a daily basis.

Now I am confused , because the second battery I tried testing it on when I bought mine was s car battery but the battery was a bit down but still after taking it to a battery charger, I tried again with my smart charger and it didn't charge,
Another nairalander who bought the 20amp smart charger tried it on 2 different car batteries and it didn't charge, he called me and told me about it, I advised him to try it on a deep cycle battery, which he did and he called again to tell me that the charger was ok because at first he thought the charger was bad or faulty,
So me no understand all these charger anymore,
I guess ur practical has cleared it up...
Since one person claims it can charge car batteries (tested ok) who am I to say it doesn't
