Tallesty1:Igbos don't hate yorubas but want them to see why they crave for freedom, which yoruba would not. Just like mosquitoes, those hausas/fulanis are good for nothing but blood. Even mosquitoes have reason to bite, which is;survival. Igbos want good governance or they leave, that's change. |

BiafranNigerian:Again, I sympathise with your views. I am from the Niger Delta and will therefore not understand what you mean about my view being skewed by tribalism and nepotism unless you have a particular case against me. I have only inferred my worries about Nigeria's breakage from abundant evidence from history elsewhere. When this things eventually happen, there is always that toggle between the DESIRED, the FEARED and REALITY and the resultant is hardly ever pretty. The examples abound over the last century and beyond; Ottoman empire, USSR, Yugoslavia, Sudan, Congo, Western Saharawi, Biafra (the real one), Azawad, Indonesia, Austria-Hungary and recently, Iraq, Syria, Libya etc. As the maxim goes, "It is better to jaw jaw than to war war". It is also said; "Be careful what you wish for...cuz it may come true"! The raped women of S/Sudan will know this better. |

kjhova:You are right. And that is a good thing to consider and a genuine concern for that matter. But groups in these areas have far more commonalities than they have in a wider nigerian. There is shared culture, same religion, common bounderies, intermarriages, same values and similar language group and dilects- ikwerre, opobo, bonny, egema, ahoda, ogbia, igbo, agbor, aniocha etc. They also look alike. Unlike in nigeria where you could very easily isolate people based on their looks and ascent, you hardly can be that successful in the eastern block except in cases of deep ascent. Keep in mind during the mutiny of july 1966 all the eastern officers which made up about 75 percent of nigerian military officers corp at the time were killed by the lower majorly northern NCO only by their looks. Any eastern leaving in the north is classified as same because they look alike, sound alike, behave alike etc Arguable, there will issues of differences, cultural similarities, bloodlines etc may provide the right levers for quick resolution |

nairalandankrah:Unfortunately, this is human problem not Nigerian. I have had people say time and again that strike, violence etc do not solve problems but dialogue do. This is very correct. Regardless how long severe the strick is, how violent the war is, the solution will be reached by common sensible discussion where compromises will be made. A give and take. strike and violense are only means to an end and not the end itself. However,You might not get the unwise to discuss until he feels a sense of loss and that increase the value of a negotiation |

LAFOCUZY:Very reasonably put argument, bro, & it makes a lot of sense to me. There's more sense of communal feeling between congruent groups in Nigeria than between ethnicities that have little geographical correlations or lingual or historical connections. My opinion still holds though that should we achieve separation on the basis of war and violence, it will spiral out of control and the conflagration will engulf all of us in a mad whirlpool of violence begeting more violence! In these scenario, reason and goodwill will be the first out of the door while vile men with anti-sensible ideologies will be pushed to the fore in many parts. I agree that I am holding a most negative view of the future in a breakage, however in these situations, it is not folly to envisage the worst case scenario. For therein is wisdom as the people of Syria can attest today. |

kjhova:You are not bro. You are being quite reasonable making a fair preview of a war event. These things get out of hand and very difficult to control. Afterall you start a mob but you cannot control it. You have a strong position Its goining to be a catch 22 situation for these guys- a case of the lesser evil if the lesser evil can even be predefined.? |

kjhova:I do not think you understand the import of the word "jaw jaw than to war war". We are not suggesting a war here, all that the IPOB and Biafran crusaders have done has been jaw jaw, it is the FG that has been the warring war warers if i might use that word. You erroneously predicted that tribalism will damn the new republics and I am putting it up to you that you are wrong. A child that knows what killed the parent can only be foolish to be killed by the same thing. These new republics, when they emerge, not if they emerge, cos whether in our lifetimes or in the far future they will certainly emerge, will be built on the template of fairness, meritocracy and respect for sanctity of human dignity. It doesnt matter if you are Niger Deltan, which I totally doubt, I will say you do not live in the real creeks and even if you have, you have not seen metropolitan life of what is done to develop others with the oil that flows on your soil. |

This article does a major disservice to the Niger Deltan cause by lumping it under the tag "Biafran". The Niger Delta Republic is not and cannot be a part of the Biafran struggle, although there may be some form of partnership for some time. What we want is true federalism and we are going to get it in our lifetime! |

With the so far 50yrs foundation nigeria will never stand as one. It will break up one day. All this 'one nigeria' tactis by politicians is just to delay the stormy day while poverty tarrys, but it will certainly happen. If we dont break it up and restructure it in a referandum the next generation will. Just imagine all kids about age 10 right now in nigeria hearing the daily cries and hate speeches from the elders; their hearts have been imprinted with the message of a break up. Here lies the answer: A one nigeria is possible only after an absolute soverign conference. We need the strength of unity, we need the strength of a united millitary. Each region already has independent resources. So lets live like the americas - INDEPENDENT REGIONS in a UNITED STATE OF NIGERIA. Lets make this conference big. Invite the old colonial master UK, world powers USA and Russia and the UN as witness and let the elder statesmen in each region table what they want. Personally I support the most detribalized Nigerian on the earth currently to be the chairman of this conference He is H.E. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR, Former President of Nigeria. In this conference the centre govt should be made a dummy and the states should be the real deal and absolutely independent. When all this and more is done, then let a new election be done for the federation. My 2 cent! |

"Even if World Bank financing comes through, the loans won’t do much for an economy in shambles. The national currency has depreciated 70 per cent in the last year, leading to high inflation; government workers in 26 of the country’s 36 states haven’t received their monthly salary for months; and severe gasoline shortages led the government to end price controls, causing a 67 per cent hike in prices at the pump. Nigeria doesn’t need cash; it needs good governance, which is likelier to occur if the Igbo rule themselves in the southeast, the Yoruba in the southwest and the Hausa and Fulani in the north. The West blew it a half-century ago when the Igbos attempted to achieve self-determination by establishing the Republic of Biafra. We may soon see a reprise of that civil war. How the West responds will determine whether the nation states within Nigeria achieve self-determination, or whether Nigeria, like Libya and Somalia, becomes another failed state". |

Right on point. For Nigeria to survive, we must restructure into true federal system or a confederation. Then Nigeria will become great. If we fail to restructure, then Nigeria will disintegrate and become like Libya or Somalia; God forbid that from happening. Patriotic Nigerians need to start talking to the unpatriotic, tribalist we have as president to start the process of restructuring. More prominent Nigerians need to join the likes of Atiku Abubakar in speaking up. |

BiafranNigerian:My guy keep dreaming of how u want ur republic to be. In this world, there is no perfect country, especially in Africa, where u will see perfection is in heaven, that is if heaven is real. Nobody is perfect, and certainly, Nigeria will not be like the heaven u are predicting for the so called republics, because Nigeria is not perfect. Keep deceiving urself, Nigeria will remain and last for the coming 1000 years, and I pray ur generation be alive to see it, that is if they won't be dead in their attempt to break Nigeria. Until then, keep dreaming bro |

All this people thinking that Nigeria will break peacefully are just deceiving themselves, they don't want to even talk about the possibility of war even if u urge them, they are wishing for it to be peaceful. Well my, war is inevitable, we will not escape it in the attempt to break Nigeria, prepare for a Nigeria that will surely look like Somalia, Libya or Syria. War is coming |

YorubaHighness:My friend go and sit down, igbos in other part of the country doesn't mean they're not investing home, in fact most indigenous industries in this country is located in the East, the industrial and commercial cities of Onitsha, Aba and Nnewi were mostly built by individuals as none is a state capital, Igbos have all it take to be better than Nigeria as a country. |
