The Benue State Government has entered an agreement with Contec Global Energy Limited (CONTEC Global) to establish a 10 megawatts gas- based power station in the state. The power plant, the first of its kind in the region, will generate and supply electricity to the Benue Industrial Estate located in Makurdi, the state’s capital, Daily Trust reports. A press release by the Public Relations Officer, CONTEC Global, Mr Uchenna Okeke, yesterday in Abuja said at a meeting with Governor Samuel Ortom, his Deputy, Benson Abounu and members of his cabinet, the firm offered an initial proposal to establish a 2mw power station which was later upgraded to 10mw by a six-member committee set up by the governor for effective coverage of the industrial estate. CONTEC’s Project Manager (Energy), Dr. Sashi Mozumder, who gave details of the project, said the gas-based power generation project to be established in the state is to commence in 180 days after all preliminary paper and administrative works on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) are completed. http://energymixreport.com/firm-construct-10mw-power-station-benue/?

i talk am... our govt is greedy. They are waiting for foreign messaiah who will invest in 1000mw power project. Govt should just award power generation licence to local investment who have vision for growth to supply as low as 50mw of electricity to the nation grid. 1 Like |

Dymaco: True talk. The power generation and transmission laws need to be amended for stable electricity to be a reality in double time. States like Lagos and Abia will get off the national grid in record time. |

Do people really think?? The cost of running pipeline from aba to that's place while be more than the price for the power plant Why not coal as dangote is doing (seriously that's man is the only reasonable billionaire in Nigeria) |

With the issues in the Niger Delta, it is better to invest in Hydro or coal plants. This will eventually be built and will be useless just like 70 others which are currently giving Fashola headache because of the dependency on peace in the Niger Delta. |

LNG & LPG to power can be utilised.. LNG/LPG can be transported via rail from Rivers State via Abia, Enugu to Benue Don't forget The railway passes through 11 states... Rivers - Abia - Enugu - Benue - Nassarawa - Kaduna - Plateau - Bauchi - Gombe - Yobe - Maiduguri If all the states synergise, they could ensure their respective Energy Securities.... A house divided cannot stand, we all need to shun tribalism and foster Collaboration to ensure economic growth & success....
