Don't they also want all corruption charges against ND politicians who stole money to be dropped?

The problem of the Niger Delta is found in their own house. These states get 13% derivation from crude oil sales. Before you say that is not enough, just look at the infrastructure that has been developed by Akwa Ibom (good roads everywhere, world-class hospital and stadium) and Cross River states (Tinapa, Obudu, etc). You'll rarely hear of militant/criminal activities in these two states

Ok lets look at Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa states where militancy is concentrated. These states are the highest beneficiaries of the 13% derivation rule, collecting trillions of Naira since it was implemented. Do you hear of life-changing infrastructure being built with the money? No. What we hear is Alamesigha dressed as a woman to escape bail from UK, Peter Odili granted perpetual injunction against arrest, James Ibori in jail in UK for money laundering (forfeiting hundreds of millions of pounds meant to develop his state to the UK that does not even need the money), etc. Furthermore, their own son was president for six years and he could not implement a single project in his entire geographical zone not to talk of his state belente his own village.

Yet, criminals from these particular three states (Delta being the main one), continue to blame 'lack of federalism' while asking for corruption charges to be dropped against people who stole money that is enough to turn the entire ND into a paradise. Akwa Ibom and Cross River are leaving you people behind and I don't see the same 'lack of federalism' holding them back. SMH.

If you give Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa their own country, their leaders will loot their own people dry and they'll still blame the poor Hausa man in Bauchi who's farming onions. People in the ND need to hold their leaders accountable while also looking in the mirror.

Rant over

Bros you really hit the nail on d head.

U talk like a child! Their demands are okay..one thing I hate about we Nigerians is that we hide truth a lot. Why not go ahead with these projects in that region? What is so difficult in taking up strategic projects in that region by FG? Why can't that region b made the commercial city of the country? Why Lagos?

U want to shoot at anythinh Biafra? U are really kidding me! Is it wrong to want to divorce ur partner? Why can't Nigeria call these guys and agree a referendum? Hey, even Britain who brought this mess on us doesn't run her country like the way they structured ours! What is so hard to understand that Biafra has right to want to quit the union? For nature's sake this ppl feel they can do better if allowed to be on their own, why not allow them go and allow those who wants to join Nigeria to do so at their own will and these whole mess will end? Shooting Biafra can't stop Biafra , if not, the Biafra thing wouldn't av started again after their people died in their million. Think wise bro and wake up from sentiment. In a sane society, na u and I go go street and press our govt to give room for referendum for these guys...Nigeria has never worked and may never work

Dude, you're wrong in my opinion.

This biafra thing is political. Most things in this country are either affected by politics, religion. Ethnicity is a third one, but it's influence is inferior to the former two.

USA has over 50 states and more diverse than Nigeria, they are able to find a common ground to live as a country. A Texas man is very different from a New yorker. They don't put religion and region before their country.

The easterners benefit from this country as much as anyone else. The only time they lost power at the center, they remembered they had a project called biafra.

Ojukwu contested under APGA, ho many ibos backed him?

You have senators, ministers, HOR members from the south east, you have south easterners in the navy, police, nnpc, etc, holding top positions.

You have south easterners successful in their business in every nook and cranny of Nigeria.

So I'm wondering exactly what informs your idea of separation.

Now, I have tried to reason along the same line you have done. I hope you will keep it that way, and not result to insults.

I just look at some comments here and I laugh. it's very clear many of u just type anything from one hidden coner. Just take a look at that first picture and see the kind of gun that man is carrying.

You might think they re childish now but believe me, even if the whole military force goes to the creeks today, those companies wrong still work as there will be a serious war.

The best still remains dialogue and give them at least a 60% of what they demand. ofcos there is no other region in Nigeria that will have such resources and not benefit from it for years. instead there regions who don't even kw how these things are done gets its benefits all the time. It has to stop.

imagine more than 10 hausas who have not been to ND before owns oil wells. I remember during OBJs tenure a Niger Deltan bided for an oil well more than a billion dollar, obj went ahead n awarded it to someone from the west who paid just about 750 million. now think of that

I am a Niger Deltan who has travelled across the breadth and length of the region.I denounce the activities of NDA and the other armed groups in the region.

First, you guys are destroying the environment, not considering the aftermath.

Agitating for 60% of the ownership of the oil blocs from the region is okay,BUT THE BITTER TRUTH IS THAT MOST OF OUR LEADERS FROM THIS REGION ARE HEARTLESS AND DO NOT HAVE OUR INTEREST AT HEART,SO IT WILL MAKE NO DIFFERENCE.

Most of our LEADERS HERE HAVE THIS CLIMB-THE-LADDER-THEN-FALL-IT-DOWN SYNDROME.They prefer the youths to " tuale" for them all the time

It is becus we don't agree that is why it is like that...
The simple way to decide this is via referendum...there is no big deal...this Biafra thing has been there..it is very popular and strong in the easth. The best any matured country can do now is carry out referendum. America is not as centralised as u think. They run their resources the way they like...
The central govt in Nigeria is bad...this is why we av too much greed to get to the central govt...allow states or regions run any resources they find in their land...

The people of niger delta are not honest and sincere to themselves and other Nigerians. They knew deep down within themselves that their leaders embezzled the funds meant for the development of their region, yet blaming the new government which is barely a year old for all their predicament. These people need to set their values right.

U av made no point ...whatsoever u are saying, u are saying it out of hatred bro...is it militants that told ur Nigerian govt not to diversify her economy for decades? Did militants force ur federal govt to earn so much and from the military era till date without a functioning refinary ? U know the truth! Those guys are holding this country down becus the govt has failed...other countries used their oil generated revenue to build world class hospitals, excellent universities that attracts foreigners (which makes money for the host country), they build world class research centres, they develop world class mega cities...industries etc...Nigerian govt from era of military till date couldn't do anything worth clapping for and u are here talking against militants! They want 60% of the oil block...this is not a bad demand bro...

If they want to be earning salary from oil wealth, it is still not a bad idea bro...if Nigeria is a sane country, we would av diversified our economy long ago and by now, we would av gotten many sources of revenue generation plus enough to pay oil producing communities.
They want certain national projects to be situated in their region...my brother, na hatred they worry, that is jot a bad demand...build those projects in their region. In fact, appreciate that region for helping this country remain united becus if not for the oil found in that region, forget unity..why not build the university for them? The communities are the ones suffering from the effect of oil exploration and u still want to deny them of major national projects ? It is not fair. Nigeria is full of hate, if not, national govt would av been building most of these projects there and help transform that region into a mega city commercial hub of the country.
