This is unprecedented, this is the 30th minute without light and I'm still at the venue with people leaving in their droves. When the power finally came it took 15 minutes for the microphone to work properly. I saw the commissioner of culture and tourism visibly crying. The power failure kill the soul of the event and left emty sits behind.

Why did they not hold it in a venue that has 24/7 off grid light? What happened to all the nice hotels in GRA? They could have even come to Ebitimi Banigo Auditorium in UNIPORT or the one at RSUST.

In real countries, the power companies are their primary source of power, while standby generators are their secondary or tertiary source of power.
In Nigeria, the generator is our primary source of power, while PHCN is just a flash light source. All it does now is flash and take. The DISCOs are distributing darkness nationwide.

The organisers really messed up. Ordinary small family party sef, I usually ensure I have 2 stanby generators. Let alone such an international event.

Infact, recent eye-openers has even revealed to me that if they made arrangements with PHED i'm sure they can give them power throughout the event.

I have witnessed where all stanby generators went down at an important event, and someone at the event placed a call to a contact with the power distribution company and light was restored. It was like magic to me. It was then I realised that in this Nigeria, power pass power.

The organisers obviously did not do their home work well.

With the epileptic nature of power, on would have expected them to have standby generators

For this type of event, you don't run on PHCN, you run strictly on generators. Poor venue management.

Quite sad, AMAA should sue the venue owners for this. They definitely rented out the space, but shortchanged in the process

Are you sure WIKE was even at the event?

Sad... quite sad that we cannot get just single electricity right.. london heathrow alone has about 3000mw of electricity.

But here we are with a population more than the whole of london and struggling btw 2,000 & 3,000mw.

Regionalism is just the way forward
That way regional govt would use tax money to generate electricity according to the population of that region.

The regions with less population and amenities obviously would be making less funds, but at the same time be able to fund electricity for the little population.

This our population and everything centralized is killing us.
