The Chairman, Senate Committee on Domestic Debt and Loans, Shehu Sani has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to rethink his way towards appointing a Minister who is not only an electrical engineer, but who has the knowledge of the industry.

Sani made the call in an expression of displeasure to the spate of darkness that has pervaded the country.

This was even as he described the drop in power supply as unacceptable and embarrassing.

Speaking further on the development, the Senator said no excuse by power stakeholders was cogent enough to substantiate hardships that Nigerians are passing through.


"We need a Minister of Power;One who has nothing else to do or to think about but concentrate on issue of Power;We hitherto often lived in the dark,now we perpetuate in it.Light is now luxury,luxury is now light.With the Privatization of power,We moved from the darkness of a tunnel to that of a cave.We moved from power epilepsy to power paralysis."

He however called for a review of defunct Power Holdings Company of Nigeria assets, noting that privatisation of power regime had brought untold hardship to Nigerians.He also urged government to invest in renewable and non renewable energy.
