I'm trying not to be sad. But I work in a brutal industry. I know I'm not entitled to maternity leave, but who plans to get pregnant while you have a baby.

I just don't know what to do. Will I need to resign? I can't leave a month old baby for house help.. I'm so scared. Cos I'm only entitled to my annual leave. Which is one month.

Won't people abuse me for leaving my baby at such a tender age..... how will I cope returning to work in that state, cos I'm already burned out on the job.

I just need encouragement I guess or maybe I need to face the reality of resignation. Please advice in love....what do you mama's think..

Hip hip hurray! Happy birthday to Princess Purity @ emerald22. May she always give you reasons to smile and be proud of her

Congrats Osas4g on d arrival of your adorable little angel.

Welcome Kotias33. May you stay be enjoyable

Expecting to read your update Ginababy. God is with you.

Tallgirlslim that's a tough one. Do you have any family member that can stay with her after you resume? Someone you can trust? You can negotiate with your office to work half day or take a month without pay. I won't advise resigning, not in this current economic situation.
Just discuss with your boss. Ndo. It's well with you

Tallgirlslim just breathe, you shall be fine.
Please do not resign your job..the economy is so bad right now that I would not even advise my enemy to quit getting at least a monthly stipend.

If possible, you can ask for unpaid leave for a month or two so at least your baby would get to 3months and in that time hire a nanny(a mature woman, not these small girls). So you spend that 2 months watching the nanny, it might leave you some confidence to leave your baby to work.
Or you can get a nanny just before you put to bed and watch her during your annual leave, then resume work. You can choose to carry your nanny and baby to work with you.
Meanwhile, have they categorically told you you are not entitled to maternity leave?

My dear its a tough decision to make! But the ultimate thing is your baby's welfare and well being. What ls a job if you are not at peace and the child /children you're making the sacrifice for are not well cared for. Id say resign and believe God to bring good tidings your way once the baby is old enough to be left for third party carers.

Except your mum or MIL is fully available to take up the task.that's your best bet in my opinion. Yes some things may suffer eg you may not be able to buy aso ebi or Brazilian this period but many years down the line your children will make up for it.

Some crèches accept babies that young but the logistics of going back and forth may be tough.

Speak with your husband on the matter. Explore the pros and cons..most importantly prayerfully weigh possible outcomes. Be prepared to cut back on many things even food if necessary but you'll pull through I tell you!

Wait a minute.Take a deep breath and relax. You will be fine. ....The details you gave are a bit sketchy tho. Are you working in the bank? Banks do give at least 2months maternity leave with pay. Correct my naivety. ..but apart from banking sector, any other industry in the private sector that doesn t give at least 2-3months mat. Leave ? Like already said by other mama's, can you negotiate for additional months without pay ? Can Mum or MIL come around? Can you get a nanny ? What's your husband's opinion on the issue?
Sincerely speaking, resigning should be a last resort decision when all other options have failed.

People who come here get bored easily. So although MIL can come to stay for a month. She may not stay past that.

I'm still talking to my boss. My hubby called me not long ago after I ranted to him. He said we can do it. I feel better than when I wrote this earlier. God is still in the business of making things happen. Thanks for the encouragement.

My dear sis, yes I'm not entitled to mat leave. It's the policy. I took one last year. I am afraid to apply for leave without pay because banks are sacking without mercy right now. So I will have to explore the nanny option.

My househelp has been very good with my daughter. We have CCTV in the house and we watch her. But she will also need help. Cos I want her to write her SScE but two little ones will distract her. So again a nanny will be a good idea.

Thank you for the advice

Banks give 3 months with pay my dear mama. But I already took mat leave last year. I'm not getting another one this year. My colleagues adviced me not to take maternity without pay because I may not be able to come back with the rate at which banks are retrenching.

This is why I was so worried earlier. I was thinking so hard. But I will just discuss more with hubby to find the best way out. My hubby doesn't want to hear resign... my mum can only stay a month or less, same with MIL. Both of the dads are still alive and will need their wives too undecided
They both did it the last time, ran to meet their husband.

Again it is well.

Tallgirlslim happy you feel better kiss can you cope after birth with just your help? If yes, I would suggest you delay mother in law coming till about a week before you resume, that way you have someone capable to stay with LO for say another month.
In this period, you get a nanny and she would learn d ropes before mother in law goes back.
If you would be able to get the nanny just before delivery, better.
Bank and motherhood combo isn't easy at all. God will lead you to make the right decisions.

Happy wedding anniversary teamie jumayin! Forever to go in love and God's unending grace kiss

Since both mums can stay for a month each, can they come one after each other? So, let's say your mum comes shortly before you resume, then when she leaves, your mil comes too. That way, your baby will be three months by the time they are both done visiting.

I'm happy hubby is willing to brainstorm the subject with you! Makes decision making easier. If bringing the FIL/your dad along for the trip will make MIL/mum willing or able to stay longer you can always explore that. With nannies sometimes its just like one is paying them to sit and watch tv when there's a younger maid in the house. As in nanny can just decide to sit and be watching maid do all chores on the pretext of I'm watching baby. Do you get?

May God help you through this phase. May we reap the fruits of our labour in Jesus name

MY BIRTH STORY.
All my EDD past(25 may,31may(lmp) &4th june and no show. I became more apprehensive as i was approaching 41weeks.

41wks was on tue also my ANC. I went to the hospital hoping not to come back till after delivery, but for where...lol. At the hospital,i was checked and everything was ok,though the matron insisted i do pelvic assessement as a ftm. So wednesday was scheduled for it by 3pm.

Wednesday...8th june. Before meeting with the doc,i did 'do as i do' and 'match past' as an exercise for close to 45mins and for the first time,i had funny waist pain and increase in vagina pressure.
Later that day,i met with the doc and on seeing i am already 41wks,he said friday or sat might not past me. I said Amen oooo!. He did the assessment and raptured the membrane in the process. He asked if i had taken cator oil i said no and told him the side effects,he laughed and said it has been an old method of labour induction but if i feel i dont want to take it no problem but that it helps. He also said i should come for induction by friday evening or sat morning if nothing happens. I left the hospital having funny cramp but concluded it was the exercise i did in the morning while still contemplating wether to buy castor oil or not.

11:06pm wednesday...
I was about to off my data connection when i had this menstrual cramp feeling,i immediately said false labour and wanted to remove my mind there and rest but alas! I LIED cos that was the beginning of labour. Intially,i didnt want to time it but menh it got to a point i had to ooo,the interval were at 6,7,5,11,3mins in no particular order. When the contraction comes,i will hold the window protector to ease the pain but for where??,lying down was the worst. I went to the toilet twice, thank God i didnt buy the castor oil again cos i can imagine the scenerio..All these while i was counting down to 5 or 6am,so that we can move to the hospital, there again I LIED!.

3:48am came with a quadruple of pains that so feared my husband and i,this made us to move to the hospital sharply. We arrived at the hospital around 4:10,immediately they checked me and said it is three fingers and asked i walk around to hasten up the labour.

later,i was given drip that made labour to be contant, mehn I saw labour eye to eye that i was looking for june mamas to dash some...lmao. At a point what i was shouting was 'i want to poo,i want to poo poo, acho mu enyu nsi,the nurses said it is never time that i should wait a little, each time the urge to poo comes,i will manage and surpress it.

TIME TO POO/PUSH
By the time i was asked to push,i tried severely no way,i became tired and was just pooping at them, one of the nurses said, madam,u ve to poo the poo now ooo. I was asked to hold my legs and look at my naval, and no raising of my nyash while pushing.
At a point, the nurse told me where the baby's head is is not good that i have to push harder, na so i gather strength and pushed my baby out.
In all,to the Glory of God,my baby came out at 6:57am weighing 4kg. Of cos i had tear, one they gave me and the one baby gave me.

Waddling mamas : LABOUR is REAL AND NOT FRIENDLY AT ALL.

I apologize for my late BS.
