The president of the NBA has cited the example of in the US in which the the governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich was sentenced to 14 years in prison on June 27, 2011.

He was not denied bail but he was sent to court. The authorities new there was no need to deny him bail. But when the verdict was read (and sentenced pronounced) he went straight to jail. There was no need for drama in the process besides the due process.

You do not arrest people and start investigating them (looking for evidence against them) when they are in detention. You arrest them, take their statements, set a date for the courts and let them go on bail. This is because you arrest people after you have confirmed your suspicion with bankable evidence against them.

These people in EFCC know this very well because they are law enforcers. That is their job. If they did not know, the constant repetition of this within the polity by lawyers and senior advocates etc, some of whom are even pro APC should have educated them by now.

What we observed however is their illegally laying seige on the man's house. And when he took to twitter to raise alarm about it and journalists started coming around, the law enforcement officers withdrew on orders from their superiors. If they were not doing what they felt was wrong, why would they ask their men to withdraw when journalists started showing up.

Now FFK has been in detention for about 33 days. What is the federal government saying about this?[/size]

If they were an anti-corruption bunch the least they should have done was, if FFK's point's were so biting, make the appropriate adjustments in the right directions. The truer the points he made seemed to be, the greater the need to attempt required adjustments.

There are millions of young Nigerians that are being picked up from street for mere hawking or strolling and they are languishing in different prisons without being charged to court or released. Is FFK more Nigerian than others. Do want to raise unnecessary dust to catch attention.
However, FFK has been charge to court and he will have his day from friday 17 June, 2016. About 17 witnesses have being called to testify against him.
I will not worry my head for any politician being accused for corruption. They should sort themselves out.

The federal govt is actually shooting themselves in the foot by doing what they are doing - expressing their deep conviction that if they follow due process, they will not make headway in their fight.

Nobody should support them in this because it may be FFK today, a nobody to you, but it could be you or your beloved one tomorrow.

The government cannot be seen to be breaking the law because by doing so, they are enabling others to do the same and will lose the moral high ground to call others to order when others attempt to break those same laws.[/size]

Okay. I think he actually might have had his hand in the cookie jar sha. I think it is possible.
But I think the government should empower itself by following due process.

What made me think there is a chance he had his hand in the jar was
1) the fact that his lawyers did not put out any sweeping/serious statement from him (I don't know if he has such liberties to put out statements while in custody even if through his lawyers)

2) The fact that he went religious about the whole thing at a certain point. That looked like an attempt to easily whip up much needed sentiments in his favour at that point. In that statement, not much of weight appeared and I know he is a brilliant mind and loves to bring factual substance to support his position at any time. Resorting to whipping up religious emotions at that time made me think something might be wrong

Whatever the case, we are going to find out.

My brother, don't worry your head for any politician. There are hundreds of young Nigeria that are in prison today without being charged to court or released. Most are being picked up for mere hawking in Ikorodu road. FFK is not more Nigerian than any of us. Rule of law when it happen to highly placed, but juggle justice for ordinary Nigerians. He should see other side of the table. Maybe that will teach others some lessons.

EFFC got a court order to keep him for 30 day. FFK knows that is in the law enhance he will not make any noise about that. Except some few who enjoy raising unnecessary dust and cast aspersion on this government for fighting corruption. Most them did not even know when the looting took place neither did they benefit from the looters. Just because they don't like the current president.
Anyone had stole PDP or APC should be dealt with as EFCC so wishs. Let us remember there are other PDP member are still working free simply because they have no case to answer.

We need to start asking ourselves some basic questions as a country. Can we do anything right? Why arrest him when your investigation is still ongoing? Why arrest him now, feed him and waste tax payers money on him when you know you don't have enough evidence to procecute him in court.? We need complete overhaul of our law enforcement agencies... The present head of EFCC is nothing but a total failure and would have been jobless in a sane climate now.

Many of you don't even know how things work but pretend to know.

EFCC obtained valid court orders to keep FFK for the period he's been kept.

EFCC is also at liberty to want to keep a suspect while evidence gathering is still ongoing and there are many reasons for that:

1. Credible intel about the possibility of the suspect escaping from their radar.
2. The need to grill the suspect to clarify some issues before determining to prosecute the case or not.
3. In some cases, it could be for safety of the suspect if Intel reports suggest a possible political assassination.

The most important thing in this case and many others before this is that there is valid court order to keep the yam eater. That arrangement is in our laws for a reason.
