The Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun on Tuesday said students who wore unauthorised cloths to any public schools in the State would be expelled henceforth.

Aregbesola stated this at the commissioning of St Micheal’s Government Middle School, Ibokun while reacting to different choir robes and garments wore to Baptist High School in Iwo by some Christian students.

He said it was wrong and criminal for a section or group of people to have directed some innocent students to wear choir robes to schools against court’s judgment.
He urged whoever was not satisfied with the judgment to ventilate the grievance through legitimate means rather than trying to cause crises by resorting to self help.
According to him,``Government is not interested in any religion as being speculated. My goal is to improve education standard in the state.’’

Deputy Governor Titilaoye Tomori, who doubles as the Commissioner for Education, said the inauguration of the school had confirmed their mission statement in education.
Tomori said no fewer than 20 elementary, 22 middle and 17 high schools had either been commissioned or were at final stages of commissioning.

State Chairman, Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr Felix Awofisayo urged people to pay tax so that government can do more.
Some students of Iwo Baptist High School wore church garments and robes to school on Tuesday in reaction to the court ruling allowing Muslim female students to wear veils (hijab) to schools.

I would still repeat my earlier stance that it's embarrassing, the way the church leadership in Osun has comported itself in the face of the prevailing circumstances there. It smirks off as a woman who had been embarrassed by a guy she had boasted to be her own, only for him to publicly declare his love to another lady.
The church's reaction is more of bitching, it's uncalled for.
I am a devout Christian.
You can become a Christian today, if you so desire. But you're still a devouted TERRORIST.

This governor Is either confused or has no work plan I believe there is a reason for uniform as. Designed by the colonial masters
These schools are missionary schools the wearing of hijab is for religious reason and I believe we have Muslim missionary schools anyone that wants hijab should take their children there Mr governor should know that those schools belong the Christians and not government so you cannot force dress code on them

Religion is a very volatile issue throughout the world and should be handled with caution.
Besides we in Yoruba land are known to be cautious in handling issues, the issue of Abiola/June 12 a typical example.
If God we serve through whichever religion we choose can accommodate us we should please accept and accommodate. My able governor should know that whatever he does may be seen to be taken side even if it is said to be constitutional. One thing has never failed in resolving issues either domestic or public,DIALOGUE!. .

Still don't get the whole gist of this church robe thing o. Is it not a norm for muslim females to wear hijab? Why is it causing issues now? That's rebellion on the part of christians, I don't get what their cause is. Except I don't understand the whole issue sha. Nigeria is a joke right now.
The extremism of Islam wc I presume is ur religion wld blind your eyes to ssing what's bad there, how wld you or Muslims. feel if aa Christian come to a muslim school with ordinary crucifix let alone bible? , legalising hijab will give dem freedom to wear a full head to toe hijab to the point of covering their faces... morever hijab is hijab! Wc has blown the essense of uniform as a school.. I believ you are a graduate, analyse issue aas a learned in your mind before commenting..

Govt schools should continue with their uniform after all it has nothing to do improve the standard of education in the state I think that is what a sensible govt should be thinking not uniforms after all his child/children is not in any of those schools if you like dress like masquerade to school

Was it 'hijab' that Awo's free Education was enshrined in and remembered for, back in time?

Sir, you are a beneficiary of that political endowment, from a Christian born old politician, who did not impose his faith on anyone. But sir, what legacy are you leaving behind now?

A man with the perfect model and such noble experience fails indeed if he can only disrupt a timeless model but cannot put a simple model in place. You have disrupted the simplest order of things.

Awo's political philosophy derived from Jesus' love for humanity, "life more abundant" (John10) and he practiced just that in action than on lips.

Think about this, Your Excellency.
What's this one saying, please read and get your fact right before coming out to spew baldderdash and displaying your foolhardines in public. Did Aregbesola give any executive order that muslim female student should wear hijab to public schools ? The answer is no,far from it. aregbesola banned them from wearing it, and the muslim body went to court to contest the executive order, and fortunately the judicial verdict went in their way, the court granted their prayers which enable female muslim students to don their hijab to school. And that judicial verdict remains not only valid but also will serve as judicial precedence until it is overturned by an higher court in the land.

One would have thought the right and sensible thing for CAN - a body full of intellectuals and academia - to do, is to ventilate and channel their grievances to a legitimate and legal quarter. The didn't do that, they threw caution to the wind and started behaving like a conglomerate of social miscreants.

Let me reply u with a yoruba proverb. It says ti idile kan ba toro, o je pe omo ale ibe koti dagba. In English it means if there is peace in a certain family, it is because the bastard in that family has not grown up.
So Aregbesola is a bastard in Osun state. He is the worst governor Osun state has ever produced.

Aregbesola's govt was the first to introduce the idea before Christians kicked against it. The moslems, knowing that Aregbesola was already in love with the idea, had the courage to go to court!
Why had the moslems not attempted to wear hijabs in public schools until Aregbesola became governor? We have had Bisi Akande as governor in Osun and he is a moslem.
Aregbesola is just s clueless fanatic who will end up using religion to destroy the unity in that state.

It is simple, wearing hijab s the fundamental right of moslems, so also is wearing of cassock and choir robes to Christians!

Osun state now has a foolish governor that does not know the meaning and import of the word ''uniform''
