My guy, Sokoto state is not even trying sef. 50k is too small. I am currently serving in Delta state and i can authoritatively tell you that corp doctors are paid 86k. I don't know about pharmacists but Med lab scientists'allowance was recently increased from 45k to 60k.

But the truth there is you will work like a normal hospital staff. Corp doctors also have calls late in the night like other full time doctors.

Can't forget what an 'Engineering corper said to me when we were receiving our N19,800 after the 3wks orientation: He said if it was possible he would repeat nysc year because of that money, and I was like, wow, when I'm grumbling about it self!
But to answer your question, apart from the fact that they have well overpaid their dues for it in medical school, even in nysc camp the doctors are working in the camp clinic while others are out there having fun. Some even take deliveries and do minor operations for no extra pay. After camp they work as full time doctors while receiving a corper's pay

The engineering corper u mentioned above is a dullard,he was freaked by #19800 when I made more than #250k on a site within 5weeks... or you formulate this...?

My brothers and sisters, this isn't difficult. If you want to be paid like a doctor then become one. Last time I checked, we still need more, so, you will be accommodated if u meet the requirements. Otherwise, maintain your profession, and while u may ask for better wages, stop comparing. If you dont know it makes you look infinitely inferior

I even over-rated midwifery self. The whole midwifery is about 1/20 of O (obstetrics) in O & G ( Obstetrics & Gyaenecology). So, in whole, midwifery is about 1/300 of Medicine & Surgery, in scope and content. In MBBS, we have over 30 degrees compressed into two degrees. Everything they learn in Midwifery school for 18months, is taught in medschool in less than a month.

Besides,after all this braggings and boastings,you guys will still go on strike for d sake of relativity in terms of salary compared to other health workers.Even a banker who spent less than 3yrs in school'll still earn 3times your salary for an entry level..
I really like doctors who are humble and have passion for saving lives,I have a lot of 'em as friends,but I seriously detest the empty and arrogant ones vehemently.

This is what these people don't know. U become partially full staff u dedicate ur time, sleep, weekends n holidays to save souls daily. How many corpers work that long.

As for your pharmacology, i do understand that you did general pharmacology which is like an overview of the subject (i.e route of drug administration and receptor theory.) Is that pharmacology and can you call that knowledge of pharmacology? You did nothing about therapeutics and no clerkship so what are we talking about?

for those clamoring for equality ..all corp members are equal in the eyes of the federal government and that's why they are all paid 19,800 . When each Corp member is posted to his PPA, your PPA pays you according to what they deem your value or what they can afford. Corp members serving in Mobill, Chevron , MTN or all receive different pay from those serving in other organizations. nobody is crying foul. Corp members posted to private schools all receive diffent pay based on the school some pay 10k , 20k etc nobody is crying foul even amongst ministries and departments of the federal government pay for corp members vary depending on how much the specific ministry is willing to pay. PPA pay is not compulsory as some organizations and states don't even pay anything.

A doctor gets posted to his PPA and is paid by his PPA for the job he is expected to do and the value he is to bring to the organization or the amount the PPA can afford. This is different from the 19800 pay the federal government gives every corp member. the pay varies greatly even for doctors in different hospitals .General hospitals pay different, even among teaching hospitals the pay is different, same goes for ministry clinics, military and paramilitary clincs there is a wide range in payments based on what the organization deems fit to pay.

Most federal hospitals pay consist of only allowances ; Call duty allowance and hazard allowance the latter is just 5k .

as a corp member in a government school do you do 24 hour calls? do you work on weekends and public holidays? what then is your problem if the fellow who actually does is paid an allowance for it? . you want to be paid equal while they do more work, more hours and carry more responsibility than you .

I think this whole argument is a non starter as PPA'S independently decide what to pay any corp member posted to their organization it's more or less a free market.

Everyone is important in patient care but some comparison are baseless. snd who told you I'm a lab scientist either.For the fact that the our health sector is in shambles doesn't mean I should be blinded with sentiment and hate.And you laying more emphasis on pharmacy purges me.Let me ask you this question;Are you licensed to diagnose ailments or prescribe medications? Absolute No but you guys end up doing this. Is that what you call responsibility?Its called job encroachment' in which every profession is guilty of.

Well you have only said ur opinion and it's respected but don't go spread falsehood you not sure of. Physiology and Biochemistry is 2 years same as for medicine, pharmacology and therapeutics is a full academic session, pathology u study till you graduate (u specialise in one) and clinical Chemistry and toxicology is just an aspect of it

my educated friend, NUC give approval to universities to run a particular programme while the council determines the quality of education to be attained before an individual is licenced to practice. Its NUC first before the council.

As for the courses you listed above you, i will say nothing because you know the truth within yourself.

We are here having fun with this extraneous topic on Nairaland, with all the health professionals (doctors, nurses, HIM, etc) here on one another's neck; and someone was busy whining over there.
Imagine, I said midwifery was 1/20 of MBBS, obviously getting at a nurse here; and the nurse said, there's nothing a doctor could do that she couldn't do; pulling another doctor's leg too. And the doctor said, I even over-rated midwifery, that it's about 1/20 of O, of O&G. And it sparked a wild laughter.
Nairaland is a gossip centre. We sometimes come here to relieve stress, to have fun.
But if you have problem with the disparity in the salary structure of health professionals, channel your complaints to the ministry of health, or NSIWC.

I'm not disputing doctors been paid above other disciplines, but I think engineers should be well paid too irrespective of the discipline. as for our law makers,they should be placed on the same salary structure of civil servant or medical practitioners.

same question I ask myself about engineers. They are so comfortable with that. But what do you expect when in country where the minister of power is not even an engineer.

formulate ke? You've obviously not had time to interact with some of your fellow graduates. A lot of them actually repeat the whole year because of that "allowee" - they reapply in their schools and are deployed to another state. Some well over 40yrs alter their age to below 30yrs just to receive that money.
You can agree with me that not all your colleagues are as fortunate as you are, but then again the mindset among Nigerian graduates out there is simply heartbreaking...

the in thing across the world is what we call pharmaceutical care. we do it in collaboration with the primary care providers; that's the Dr's. most times we review, make recommendations, give advice and at times prescribe or change medications just to ensure the rational use of drugs. there's nothing illegal about that. It falls within the core area of our practice and at the community level we treat tropical dxs
