Gender equality is not African culture but lawmakers soliciting for sex in the States, sleeping with call girls, use of IPhones, jeeps and private jets, supporting foreign teams and betting away money is African culture. Hypocrites! Cheap lies used to hold women down.

gone are the days when wives will finish cooking and then bring the food to their husbands on their knees, now they'll tell the man, if you're hungry, you know the way to the kitchen. simply because the government decided to give them 'more power'
and yet they wonder why dem no see husband

It's not "Americanization", it's "liberation". Unless you're using "Americanize" to refer to "liberate" and "empower", seeing as it is the "land of the free and the home of the brave". Embrace the change! Gone, too, are the days when men were forced to work cotton fields and plantations from sun up to sun down saying: "yessir massa.....nossir massa......massa, I's gon be a guuuud nigga"

Not so nostalgic, that one.

It may be African & Middle Eastern culture to oppress women with their secular laws, but culture simply means - the way of life of a group of people. It doesn't necessarily mean that those "ways" are correct. Killing of twins, human sacrifice, slavery were once part of our culture too. Human beings can't thrive under oppression - it's not natural, it's always going to be a matter of time before resistance is shown. That's why a democracy is more sustainable than a dictatorship.

Women's Lib doesn't mean that husbands won't still be the head of the household, it just means that instead of being the husband's appendage wives are free to own property, free to demand respect and fidelity, free to protect themselves from dangers that husbands expose them to (for instance, a woman who knows her husband sleeps around is still expected to have sex with him and usually without a condom, risking exposure to STDs), etc. These things shouldn't threaten our core values. A wife, if she wishes, may still serve her husband on her knees. Not because he demands it but to reciprocate his loving treatment of her.

Women's Lib also means that a woman can be defined without a man (even though you can't spell woman without man). It used to be that women could be one of 3 fundamental things - daughter, wife, widow. While men are defined by their trade/work and respected for it, women are defined by their men and respected for them. Women's lib seeks to give women their own identity whether they're married or not.
if all women has this mentality, the law will not be an issue. even without the law being passed already, some are already implementing it and in the wrong manner of course, their definition of liberation is having equal authority as their mates at home, not knowing their places at work and misbehaving in public places... I hope the women be sensitized before the law is passed.
