Fayose said this on Monday in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital



The Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has frozen his personal account with Zenith Bank Plc.
Fayose said this on Monday in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
This followed his inability to operate the account when he visited the bank personally.
He told newsmen that officials of the Bank told him that an embargo has been placed on his account.
Fayose had been having a running battle with the EFCC over the funding of his governorship campaign in 2014.
There had been accusations that the campaign was funded with funds from the Office of the National Security Adviser.
Fayose had denied this, saying his campaign funds were generated from the ordinary people who wanted him in power.
When contacted, the spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, said he was not aware of the accusation levelled against the Commission by Fayose.

After investigation, he will be prosecuted at the expiration of his immunity.

EFCC is taking laws into its hands by misinterpreting some sections of the statutes establishing the agency. The EFCC is making itself both the prosecutor and the arbiter. If they are confused, they should've sought for clarification from the court before taking such decision as to be on safer side of the constitution. This is not a military regime.

If it were to be Goodluck Jonathan's administration doing so to Amaechi, you would've understand better.

This is just like asking which court LASMA prosecuted a driver before seizing the spare tyre or collecting N10,000 from him.

Not trying to be smart but it's only reasonable that if his account was frozen then there must be a very reasonable reason for that and it could only mean that the efcc are unto something. Now tell me if they actually found something what would be their next line of action? Unfreeze the account and wait till 2018?

All these assumptions or questions are based on my refusal to see this as a witch-hunt.

I suspect the account was the one they paid the proceeds from sale of his Abuja plot.

Remember, N650 million changed hands for the plot.
