It saddens me to read most comments on this thread esp the ones by our ladies who liken war to situational rift with their boyfriend, in which they emerge with semi-blinded eyes and swollen faces only to reconcile and continue the tune of love. And for those shouting: '1967 ain't 2016', I concur wit you. The difference in in tragedy th with occur is that in 1967, your parents survived that 'child-play' to give birth to you. But in the war drum you beating in 2016, you won't survive it, let alone to raise a family to tell the story. And for those shouting the Hague, I think most of you just hearing the word for the first time. Many don't even know which country, the ICC is. You think is every Leader they summon there. Despite Putin's high-handedness against the secessionist in Cremea, no western media has ever threatened him wit the Hague because they knew it is futile. My question is where were the biafran secessionists when Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan was in power? Or where the various militant groups in hibernation during Gej's tenure? The truth is most of us from the 80s and onto 90s in this forum have never heard the sound of mortals and maybe the breezing speed of a bullet past our ears, hence our constant clamouring for war. If there is injustice and marginalisation in the land, there a means of resolving it. It is not the present administration that cause it, rather he is cleaning the mess of 30years, let give him a chance.

Buhari should setup a committee to find root cause of the agitation/militancy instead of threatening the people. 2016 is not 1967

To add to what you post above: The truth which many don't know is that most of generation of Igbo born during and after the war were/are offsprings of Nigerian Soldiers cool #foundamental truth cool
Thank you for this insight,. It then means that even Nnamdi KANU may be a Hausa or Yoruba man. Then there is the need for DNA analysis on all Igbo born during and few years after the war to ascertain who is trully an Igbo person.

If you read the link you posted...you will see where it is stated that "he alleged that innocent civilians were being killed"

We all know that going in guns blazing will leave collateral damage. Look at Odi village. Even with the recent NDA the army has been more diplomatic in their approach. The few that were arrested, were all claimed innocent. Does it mean we support NDA by asking that innocent people not be harmed?

No sane human being (including you) will support innocent people being killed.

Threatening Delta militants and IPOB again won't resolve anything, you dumb f*uck!

You are very incompetent and clueless that's why Nigeria is worse today than before you became president!

Northern ab*okis have given us nothing but pain and sufferings! They should all be banned from heading any important political office!

Nigerian Air Force planes deployed to fight against Niger Delta Avengers

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has deployed additional aircrafts to the South-South region, in support of the fight against militancy, economic sabotage and all forms of criminalities. The deployment which is in support of 'Operation PULO SHIELD', was necessitated by the recent attacks by militant group 'Niger Delta Avengers', on the Nation’s oil and gas installations.

So because u are afraid of war, u will accept any situation. are u comfortable with the Nigerian state of condition ? If no, what have u done to change the status peacefully at least to show those drumming for war that there are other ways to get whatbone wants other than war ?

That u are afraid of war and would want to remain a slave/coward does not mean that everybody should reason with you.

the peaceful ways to express concern I believe does not include peaceful demonstrations in u and buhari's heads as u go about killing unarmed protesters yet want them not to think of war.

Be proud of ur tribe even though ur tribe are known for cowardice and stop claiming Anambra looking for pple to dine with u in the table cowards.
What situation are you talking about ? Tell me one tribe dat is better off in Nigeria. All tribes in Nigeria are bleeding, the West, the East, North, South et al. Tell me one dat enjoys more than others. We all av challenges, and this challenges bcam too heavy à load on us all because of pervasive corruption witnessed in our political landscape. You can call me coward for all u like, I wont resort to name calling just to prove a point. Somebody is talking of restructuring, actually what are u restructuring ? Hitherto the 1967 we practiced federalism, what did we make of it aside massive corruption, ethnic and tribal domination, weaker central and secessionist war drums. It was conséquent upon this challenges that necessitated state création and a destruction of federalism, now u go again talking of same restructuring cum federalism. Try and embrace ur history for it lies the clues to solving today's puzzles. I know Nigerians too well to know dat no peaceful démonstration exist anywhere. How can dey say they are having peaceful démonstration when govt properties are their main target ? If anyone is to be held accountable for the woes in Nigeria, it's the past governors, what have they been doing with the revenue accrued to this states over time ? They steal, embezzle and launder the common wealth of the states and u come here talking about restructuring.

Buhari 2016:
-there was no oil money during the civil war period
-'it was a quarrel between brothers'
Then what was the reason behind killing 3 MILLION of us 'brothers' who wanted to leave. And threatening us with the Nigerian military again. Maybe only learnt keep Nigerian one in school. As he could embrace Islam, he embraced this statement without asking. Is it true, who were we before the almagamation

Brethren, 'War' as the name connotes is not 'English' or 'Mother-tongue' that you speak with style and cultural etiquette...

'War' means a lot than people could actually realize...

IT'S JUST A THIN LINE BETWEEN PEACE AND WAR...

So, LETS ALL GIVE PEACE A CHANCE

To hell with your unity. The only unity I can see is unity in sipping oil. Where is the bia in wazobia? Just because of the oil discovered in Olobiri the bia couldn't stand knowing very well that if we have one language in the East, it will be difficult to reach our oil, the yoruba media propagated so much falsehood causing so much hatred among us. Now we know better. Enough of the oil sipping.

We destroy our own environment in other to spite government as if those in power will feel it. Simple truth is that they won't! They have eaten enough money to last them for generations. It's the common man that will suffer it. Our environment has been destroyed, rivers polluted, no development anywhere & youth restiveness but we add self destruction to all these because of "our oil" mentality. What have our leaders done for us? What have the so-called freedom fighters done for the common man? We keep blaming government that builds schools, hospitals, etc for us and yet we can't see our own enemies. We Niger Deltans and even the south easterners are so wicked to ourselves and self centred. We are cruel to our plight and only God can help us, not the government, not federalism and not even secession. Even if we have Niger Delta republic or Biafra today, worse problems shall emerge because the same wicked and self centred hegemonic people will still be at the helms of affairs. So there is no utopia for us unless we fight for our rights, the right way.

The government has not done enough, granted! But why do we cause more havoc? Violence is not the way. Scoring own goals is not the way.

We can dialogue, involve international groups and other nations, cause civil disobedience, protest, etc but never violence or self destruction. Look at the American Civil rights movement and learn a lesson or two from there.

It is well..

war veteran indeed , should we be moving backward because one section of the country chooses to remain in 13 century huh If he can support state of Palestine and western Sahara that's not up to half of ebonyi state population why not do the same to Biafran people compress roughly 80million in population both in Nigeria and in disapora, bull-hari is a hypocrites, No amount of military intimidation can stop the agitation, last I checked Nigeria are part of UN....UN charter Article 2 said All Members shall refrain in their international

Its simple. Let's have a referendum. Stop using the civil as excuse. No part in the constitution says no part can secede.

If u give me referendum today, I will go for Nigeria. But my question is, why use force to keep people as a united haters? Hey hey hey...we are in modern times Jareee. I will always choose Nigeria over any other region but this we must live together thing is very annoying... Why not allow people choose where they want to belong. I av read a lot about this country and even the European press thinks that Nigeria is an artificial state that was created due to the greediness level of Great Britain. If someone like Buhari is making this kind of comment, I can understand becus he is an old school with no modern swag and intellent. But for a person with a modern view... No na, I can't take it.

Many countries have taken the path of referendum.. Pls...don't force ppl to live together. Scotland is a developed place that have enjoyed the spread of development across the nations of Great Britain but they still voiced out of having their own identity and they were given the opportunity to choose where to go not to talk of a country like Nigeria where a particular region has suffered set back for decades as a result of delibrate policies by the central govt.

Until Nigeria turns truthful, this country will remain like this. This country will never win the corruption war, the election violent and malpractice war, the lack of patriotism, the nepotism, etc .. We need to accept the truth. The truth is, living together is not by force. I'm quite sure that by the time this our buhari and ko generation die finish...the next younger generation will surely not act so shallow and maopic to force unity on people. Always remember that there was a region on its own before the formation of Nigeria.

I want us all to look at Africa and see that most of the problems countries are facing today in Africa is ethnic related. Same issue of merging two or more ethnic groups together during colonial rule as a result of greediness by the whites. Well..I know many people will say I av written rubbish. But I'm sure ur heart tells u the truth. I love the diversity in Nigeria... When u travel u get to meet other people with different culture..it is beautiful but it shouldn't b made a do or die affair. There is so much hate in this country. The various regions hate them selves and hatred can never allow development to come in. Never... Why can't we restructure this country? Why can't we think of a better system of govt? May be rotational presidency or regional base govt? This structure of Nigeria encourages lie and corruption. Some regions are using this structure of Nigeria to do evil. For instance...we can never ever have accurate census figure in Nigeria becus there lies the power of many FG dealings.

My people...I am a Nigerian from the younger generation and make me a president today, my first project will be to see how we can restructure and reshape this country for a better living. We can't always be what the whites (Europeans ) want us to be. We are Nigerians today becus they wanted us like that.

I will like the new generation of Nigerian to think deeply about this country. Forget hatred and oil money. Many countries don't have oil. More over , we are in the science and technology driven era not oil money era. Let's forget the hate we have for each other and demand that our country be restructured. I believe if we take up this case very well... Our fathers will listen to us. I will end on this note;
If u read reports from European press, u will notice that they too believe that we run a country with a faulty foundation, created out of the greediness of the super Great Britain. We should wise up.

This is the kind of speech that caused Nigeria to loose a million barrels of crude and achieve a record 0 megawatts of power.

I'm not one to insult a leader but I must admit that with this kind of thinking, we have a foolish president.

You are telling people to remember Biafra in a way that suggests that you are ready to kill another 2 million people to keep the Phantom "one Nigeria ". What kinda leader speaks like this to a large section of the country.

What would be wrong if he says, as a people we need to discuss from time to time to perfect our unity. Whatever makes so so and so section of the country feel aggrieved should be looked into. Whatever makes so and so section of the country terribly poor even when others Progress should be looked into.

What kinda president speaks foolishly like this. The next thing now Avengers would ground oil production and you'll run to London again to treat hair loss and leave the mess for Osibanjo to clean up. Nonsense.
At 73 the man cannot change. Since I know him his speeches has always been one that incite violence. This one even has a bit of reconciliatory tone. At least we heard him saying we need prayers.
