It saddens me to read most comments on this thread esp the ones by our ladies who liken war to situational rift with their boyfriend, in which they emerge with semi-blinded eyes and swollen faces only to reconcile and continue the tune of love. And for those shouting: '1967 ain't 2016', I concur wit you. The difference in in tragedy th with occur is that in 1967, your parents survived that 'child-play' to give birth to you. But in the war drum you beating in 2016, you won't survive it, let alone to raise a family to tell the story. And for those shouting the Hague, I think most of you just hearing the word for the first time. Many don't even know which country, the ICC is. You think is every Leader they summon there. Despite Putin's high-handedness against the secessionist in Cremea, no western media has ever threatened him wit the Hague because they knew it is futile. My question is where were the biafran secessionists when Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan was in power? Or where the various militant groups in hibernation during Gej's tenure? The truth is most of us from the 80s and onto 90s in this forum have never heard the sound of mortals and maybe the breezing speed of a bullet past our ears, hence our constant clamouring for war. If there is injustice and marginalisation in the land, there a means of resolving it. It is not the present administration that cause it, rather he is cleaning the mess of 30years, let give him a chance.
While I agree with some of your submission, the truth is that buhari's tone has never been reconcilliatory. Threats doesnt douse tension. There is a way to talk to people agitated to calm them down. We talk about giving the President chance but the reality is that every opportunity he has to talk and he spits fire is a chance wasted. Is it a coincidence there is more reconciliation when he was away and Osinbajo held sway? Is it a thing of coincidence that Osinbajo dare to tread in those areas where President was advised to stay away from? The problem with Nigeria is the man Buhari, he represents violence. Long before he came to power he has been synonymous with violence. His utterances caused one of the post election violence that killed some corpers years back. He is the same man that said monkeys and baboons will be soaked in blood. He once advocated muslims should vote muslims while christians vote christians. He visited Oyo state in his capacity as an elder stateman some years back on the heel of a clash between hausas and yorubas and told the then Oyo governor 'Your people are killing my people'. During Jonathan and Obasanjo regimes, I wonder how many council of state meeting he attended; he consider himself too self righteous to mix and learn the complexity of Nigerian state from those who ruled before him when he boycotted those meetings. Of late he made allusion to a 95%-5% dichotomy. The man is just divisive and it is personality that is driving most of these strive and agitation where are witnessing. I pray the SE/SS people can calm down and give peace a change but Buhari in power will always prove a challenge to that wish of mine.

Why can't Nigeria just purchase missiles and fire at these militants base of operations?

This kind of mentality is what has prevented the Igbos from achieving their full potential. Everyone knows they are the most industrious in the country.

But this victim mentality is what makes you always make wrong political decisions which have undermined your progress. Keep at it.
nairaland.com's aka hypocrites.com is a gathering of hypocrites.
The gang up against ibos is the barrier and not the mentality of the average ibo.
Because without our mentality we are nothing.

Gen Buhari should know that we are very Determined for this course. It is either Biafra or all us will Die. This time around, there will be no exile, no runing away. This is a land where we were born; we have live here thousands of years, this is where we will all Die. THE status quo cannot be maintain agin, no Death is better. Biafra is Here!

Both Biafrans and militants should plz seek for round table discussion with Federal government amicably on areas that need attention in their various regions. Peace is only tools to mute war and hunger. To those who cares to listen when young people strike war, the old will run hills with empty stomach while the able will fight and bathe with blood pools. Let maintain peace!

You've all heard the war veteran.

If those that dared to attack the military during their secession protests had reflected 'very seriously' about the avoidable Biafran war and the outcome, some wouldn't be 6 feet down in the earth today like those that came before them.

Reflect. Very. Seriously. And. Be. Wise.

The only problem I see here is that this is not 1967.

This is the problem wen a man at departure lounge is asked to preside. This is 2016.

Go ahead and commit genocide, we wont rest until u make ur appearance in the Hague for war crime.

As e be u, na so e be us, we are fully committed.

If Buhari don't kill 30million den he is a bastard.

As a dictator he did not last one year, so he is turning out democracy to dictatorship. The coward was the only dictator displaced without one gun shot!
Bros drink some cold water and relax...It did not take a world war to remove Gen. Gowon from power! If a war starts now on account of this Biafra thing, the death toll in present day realities will dwarf what started in 1967. Last time i checked Gen Gowon is still a free man yet he ordered the massacre of millions of people and plunged several generation into a state of generational hardship and lack. For your information, the Hague, like every institution on this sick planet, is controlled by the powers that be and if Buhari plays his game well, he can start an ethnic cleansing that will go completely unnoticed by the superpowers of this world - the atrocities in Oman, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar are veritable examples.

It is foolhardy to ask for a war and hope to punish the initiators of the war at the end of the war...Wisdom says prevent the war and spare the hangman's noose!

I feel the pain of the Igbos. I feel the hate and disdain they have for the rest of Nigeria as a result of the war. I feel their thirst for vengeance and I lack the moral standing to plead for them to forgive and forget but they must understand: it is foolishness for the weak to stand up against the strong, wisdom demands that the weak retreat, grow in strength and might and return to fight a fair fight!

My advice to the Igbos; return home, galvanize your resources, grow your local wealth, gain regional and global influence then return with a bid to secede and I assure you all, the only war that would be fought would be the signing of papers...but would the Igbos heed such an advice!?

i love ur approach that is trying to win a war without firing a shot,u think u can pretend to be smart and cow igbos to remain in slavery?ofcourse you wont understand that a threat pumps adrenaline up the heart of an ibo person.
If u are not ready to fight, never threaten an ibo because threats dont work.

Napoleon was a brutal man in combat but he'd rather win a war without a fight (Robert Green, 33 Strategies of War). Winning a war becomes foolish, when you have to fight so many battles, lose so many good soldiers, lose hard earned wealth and render yourself incapacitated in the process! Yes death is a reality but do you think those who fought the 1967 war would fight again if they were given the chance to. Do you think the Igbos who died in combat would be happy with an Ojukwu who decided not to meet the ultimate reality in the hands of Nigerian soldiers? Do you think that those who died in the war would love to start it again after seeing the hardship and poverty that would follow for generations?

I trust you anyway, you would be one of the few privileged who would escape to South Africa when the sounds of missiles play an orchestra for your timid ears...I have learned that true warriors go to the battlefield as a last resort but cowards dance easily to the beating of war drums!

PapaBrowne:
This is the kind of speech that caused Nigeria to loose a million barrels of crude and achieve a record 0 megawatts of power.

I'm not one to insult a leader but I must admit that with this kind of thinking, we have a foolish president.

You are telling people to remember Biafra in a way that suggests that you are ready to kill another 2 million people to keep the Phantom "one Nigeria ". What kinda leader speaks like this to a large section of the country.

What would be wrong if he says, as a people we need to discuss from time to time to perfect our unity. Whatever makes so so and so section of the country feel aggrieved should be looked into. Whatever makes so and so section of the country terribly poor even when others Progress should be looked into.

What kinda president speaks foolishly like this. The next thing now Avengers would ground oil production and you'll run to London again to treat hair loss and leave the mess for Osibanjo to clean up. Nonsense.

It is really sad that president buhari is only interested in killing ipob protesters and safety of oil pipeline that gives them money to share and to steal. Also sad is that the Nigerian President is not interested in curbing the killings by his fulani herdsmen which to me he is the one sponsoring fulani herdsmen to kill none fulanis becos of his deadly silence. The fulani herdsman's civil war on Nigerians is more humiliating, dangerous and insulting than the 1967-1970 civil war. Buhari, you are not for everybody, you are for fulanis and the herdsmen only. Buhari you are not being fair to does you are sending your herdsmen to kill. This is Ramadan period, please be sincere in dealing with all Nigerians as a father.

We destroy our own environment in other to spite government as if those in power will feel it. Simple truth is that they won't! They have eaten enough money to last them for generations. It's the common man that will suffer it. Our environment has been destroyed, rivers polluted, no development anywhere & youth restiveness but we add self destruction to all these because of "our oil" mentality. What have our leaders done for us? What have the so-called freedom fighters done for the common man? We keep blaming government that builds schools, hospitals, etc for us and yet we can't see our own enemies. We Niger Deltans and even the south easterners are so wicked to ourselves and self centred. We are cruel to our plight and only God can help us, not the government, not federalism and not even secession. Even if we have Niger Delta republic or Biafra today, worse problems shall emerge because the same wicked and self centred hegemonic people will still be at the helms of affairs. So there is no utopia for us unless we fight for our rights, the right way.

The government has not done enough, granted! But why do we cause more havoc? Violence is not the way. Scoring own goals is not the way.

We can dialogue, involve international groups and other nations, cause civil disobedience, protest, etc but never violence or self destruction. Look at the American Civil rights movement and learn a lesson or two from there.

It is well..

I remain that very sharp Urhobo boy!
Who are those 'our leaders'?
Were they elected by the masses? The answer is No in most circumstance. Most of this leaders are products of the military generals, they are answerable to their masters and not the masses.

The only option left for the common man is to destroy the economic lifeline of the country because you dare not protest for the army will use you for shooting practice.

"there is a new generation of igbos who never experienced the war and as the Germans, they would get peace by war"
u make me laugh,in war Biafrans and Vandals alike will die.
We are happy ikemba never died by the hands of nigerians and let me tell u that those who died in the war are all back among us and still holding to their position and convictions of an idea they had died for and are ready to die for again.
Check the age of the average ipob members,u will see that they are those who were born after the war.
We dont mourn the loss of human lives during the war but the hardships because our brothers are back.
Robert Green's 48 laws is ineffective to our case because sacrifices have been made in blood, the transaction have been done and the ever watchful Sun kept record.
I know what you are trying to do,ur army isn't that good having been stretched by bh and embarrassed by nda,u want to remain on the throne by intimidation and mouthaction.
Whenever it starts, you will see how many volunteers that will willingly enlist coupled with our brothers in the army or are u also counting on eastern officers to fight for you?
With fool cooperation of the nda and the depopulation of the middlebelt by herdsmen and the withdrawn southwest.
The zoo stands a little chance.

I disagree with you sir! Destroying the economic lifeline of the country is not the only option left for the common man. As a matter of fact only a fool does that. At a time of crude technology and at a time considered pre-historic, mankind came together to pool their resources towards building a city and setting in its midst a tower that stretches into the heavens, the Bible documents that the feat this group of persons wanted to achieve was so daunting that it got God's attention...How did the Americans, the Britons, the Russians (after the end of the USSR) and recently China all make it to where they are today? They made it there through honest, selfless and collaborative effort...However the average Nigeria would rather enrich himself at the expense of the entire country.

A Niger Delta Governor labelled his own people lazy. He noted that his people instead of working hard at their jobs would rather trade the job to people of other tribes in exchange for a fraction of the salary (source: http://allafrica.com/stories/200812190067.html).

Youths keep saying, no capital, no capital, no capital but they fail to realize that if 40 people committed to starting a business can contribute 2000 naira per month they would have raised 1.44 million naira in 1 year and 6 months to start a business that would in years to come provide an escape route out of poverty...

So sir, I disagree with you! It flies in the face of common sense to destroy national assets to air your grievances - particularly when those grievances include discontinuing the investigation of corrupt persons from a section of the country.
