Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major-General Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd) has been arrested by operatives of the DSS

– It is believed that Mr Ihejerika was arrested in connection with Arms deal probe

Nigeria’s secret police, Department of State Security (DSS) has arrested the erstwhile chief of army staff (COAS) Major-General Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd) has been arrested by operatives of the DSS, reports reaching Naij.com says.

The ex-army boss was reportedly picked up last night, June 21 at his residence in Maitama, Abuja.

It is believed that Mr Ihejerika was arrested in connection with Arms deal probe involving former national security adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki.

Recall that an Australian Negotiator, Dr Stephen Davis insisted that former governor of Borno State, Modu Sheriff and former Chief of Army Staff, General Onyeabo Azubuike Ihejirika are Boko Haram sponsors.

But Ihejirika described the allegations against him as frivolous and unfounded. He said the allegation was meant to divert the attention of the country and its security agencies thereby causing division.

If this is true then he must have been really foolish to come back to Nigeria. He should have remained in China or wherever he was hiding.
He is the No. 1 culprit of the $2.1b arms deal. He is going a way for a very long time.

Amazing action by the DSS, his treatment would be similar to Dasuki grin

This was a man that was supposed to fight Boko Haram but was "avenging" for his people before he was sacked and replaced by another looter (under investigation).

The authorities should ensure this man's and Dasuki's cells are not even within shouting distance of each other, any chance for further conspiracy must be eliminated.

Dozens of other Senior officers have been retired, and others dismissed over the Arms scam. Ihejirika's arrest was long overdue.

This is one of the reasons some of us supported Buhari to be President. R.I.P to impunity.
