Hello Nairalanders.
Please this happened to me yesterday and I wish to share to enable others pay special attention to the buses they enter and watch to avoid being robbed.

I just got paid yesterday, and I had to make withdrawals via ATM at Zenith Bank, Obanikoro.
I needed this money (80k) urgently to give a friend from Akure who has been begging me for assistance cos her mum is sick. She promised to pay back anyway. She was in my house waiting while I just closed from work so needed to make withdrawals before going home to meet her.

After making the withdrawals, I crossed over the bridge with the money in my purse. I entered a bus going towards Ojota, but wasn't careful enough to study the people in it. This was almost 7pm
I noticed they were adjusting and didn't want me to stay by the edge.
The driver and one guy at the front, two guys at d middle seat, and the conductor and one woman at the seat behind d drivers seat

I didn't wanna go back so I sat at d seat behind the driver. The conductor kept insisting that I shift inside when we were just three on that role..

Due to the anxiety of wanting to get home on time, I didn't pay attention to the environment.

I noticed the bus was moving very slowly and we were all shouting at the driver to move fast and he will reply that the bus is jerking it's not his fault. The conductor later asked for money which everyone gave him.
I opened my purse and brought out #500, before I looked up to give the conductor, the woman beside me held my purse and her hand was on my lap pointing a gun at me. This was around Anthony and the bus has slowed down.
The conductor said I shouldn't talk else I'll be shot.
The lady (can't forget her face) took my purse and my phone, my atm, id cards and passport, asked me for my necklace and ear rings.
She then took out #500 from the purse and gave me for transport.

I came down, and the same bus the driver claimed to be faulty zoomed of.

Please Lagosians be careful. Pay attention to the buses you enter. watch their movements especially ladies.

What a man can do, a woman can do best since 1800 Bc! Sorry o, And keep your eyes wide open, you will get them, on that same route. Since they went away with your phone, pls go and report to CID of NPF. They have the equipment to trace that phone. By so doing you'l be helping others. Sorry gal.

Are you o.k? Which NPF? She will document the case for 10k and buy fuel for police van for another 10k. She should just move on and learn the vital lesson of being observant

I am sorry, but this is your fault. That's just the truth. This is not actually about lagos as it is. It's too risky anywhere in Nigeria moving about with such amount, too risky.
Why not transfer the money through you bank or even at the atm? Instead of carrying amount? Please next time, transfer with your phone or just do that at atm.
This may sound unbelievable to you, some of these thieves do use jazz, to know a "potential victim".
I just moved to lagos too, and I hardly went out with much cash and my atm. Too many story that touches biko.

sorry for your loss. Try to be careful next time and please watch those vehicles very well before boarding cos I've been a victim once. Funny thing is that i now prefer BRT don't even mind standing than those deadly danfo buses.

Stay strong and see it as a phase
