Nigeria and South Africa should use their influence to block this move as soon as possible. Our economy cannot even contain us, why should we allow more people to come in as they wish? Besides, we do not have adequate border control agencies so how do we stop terrorists and potential terrorists from infiltrating our territory?

you've said it all. those Nigeriens are in Lagos too begging for alms, riding motorcycles and being employed as gate men, and other petty stuffs and they pretend to be from Northern Nigeria, always claiming borno state.

but I don't think the east-northerners care. they have two major things in common; religion and language.

I also think the Nigerians form a large part of bokoharam.

Nigeria contributes a large portion to ECOWAS, without Nigeria, there's no ECOWAS. but then for a successful regional integration, let's put our country in order first.
ECOWAS being established as an economic regional integration organisation has done nothing, absolutely nothing to the growth of the Nigerian economy.

very few countries in Africa are ready to fully commit to the AU.

African institutions are always good at making decisions that can't be implemented. THE CEMAC ( Association of Central African States) has been unable to implement free movement of persons since its creation. Small and better doing economies like Guinea Equatorial and Gabon fear a free movement of persons will lead to an over take of their population which stands at over 600.000 and 1.6 million respectively. So whats this wishful thinking about opening of borders in 2018. How possible is that at 3018 even!
