Ajimobi demands apology from schools that protested against proposed education policy

Ibadan—GOVERNOR Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, has demanded for a letter of apology from schools whose pupils took part in a protest against government’s proposed education initiative, Chairman, National Parents Teachers Association of Nigeria, NAPTAN, Oyo State Chapter, Alhaji Abiodun Jimoh, said yesterday in Ibadan after a meeting with the governor.

Pupils in the state on June 6 went on rampage in protest against the proposed public/private participatory management of schools.

The pupils had protested following allegations that the state government had sold their schools and government had several times dismissed the allegations, saying the initiative was participatory and aimed at boosting the education sector.

Jimoh told newsmen that the association had visited the governor to appeal to him to re-open the schools which were shut down by the state government over the incident.

The NAPTAN chairman said that the governor had expressed displeasure over the involvement of pupils in the protest.

He said Ajimobi had demanded that he would re-open the schools only if the affected institutions submitted letters of apology to government over the unruly behaviour of their pupils.

Must we quote political parties at all time?
It's an individual thing here not party!
Afterall it's not even FG policy that encompasses all the states.

Ajimobi has lost it!!!

Apologies? seriously? Why won't the students go berserk against the aberrant policy your govt introduced at a point that the economy of the state has plummeted into the ocean of depression, salaries and wages are not paid, standard of living has dropped while the cost of living has increased geometrically... We all know that private sector won't participate without any return for them. how do you expect the parents of these students to meet up with the demands that this policy will bring to the table when you have refused to pay them their hard earn money.. I think it's high time INEC conducted psychological evaluation on everybody contesting for political post because AJIMOBI TI YAWERE. #ajimobimustgo

Does Ajimobi have any of his kids in one of those schools? NO

He can decide to waste the time and future of young Oyo citizenry in order to massage his already inflated ego. Afterall, it'd never affect him in anyway. What is at stake here is his ego. The pupils and their parents can go and die for all he cares.

This is what happens when an elected government official has praise singers and a lobotomised citizenry who cannot rise up to him. He transforms into an emperor and the institution of government, his fiefdom.

Some fools whose kids, wards and niblings are affected would come here and defend him because he belongs to their party, tribe or religion. Awon senseless and zombified mumus! Oloshi.

Hmmn, Africa and its leaders. What a disgrace sir for demanding apologies when you are failing in your responsibilities.

I hope you have written an apology letter to each of the workers you are owing backlogs of monthly arrears. If not sir, retract your statement.

African leaders and pride are like
