No doubt Airtel offers a pocket friendly data at 2gb for a fair amount of money just #200, but on a ridiculous platform of only 2G/Edge. It makes it hard for the data user to exhaust the data in it's validity period. One questions, why is the data that huge when it cannot be totally consumed? There are lots of things to do online with the different types of phones in the Nigeria market and some will even use theirs to surf online with their laptops. But at a meagre speed of 10-70kb/s how will one open a site whose page is worth more than 1mb talk more of downloading apps as big as 50mb. From a business perspective it doesn't pay the consumer neither does it pay Airtel. What will be my recommendation and those share my thoughts which must be passed on to Airtel are
1 That the data be brought down to 1gig or 1.5gig and working on 3G platform for the same amount. Or
2 That the plan be totally scrapped.
We want a plan that is legitimately affordable. We are no more in the era of 2G/edge other countries are already on 4G/LTE. Help us stop looking for network tricks that you will end up blocking.
Please pass on to Airtel, I trust the power of social media. We will surely have our wish. The 2gig for #200 on 3G will surely finish in few days and will make us subscribe the more which means more money for Airtel from the business perspective.
God bless Airtel
God bless Nigerians
God bless Nigeria.

Even if they reduce it to be 500MB, 750MB, 1GB, 1.5GB or 2GB on a 3G network, many people go rush am...
They don't know that if they enable it on 3G, more customers would patronize them, and majority will exhaust theirs quickly (mostly android users) and subscribe for another instantly because of its affordability, thus drawing more customers to their Network and making more money.

There's a reason Airtel cannot take the place of other networks like Mtn and Etisalat. They are not pace setters but rather follow other network's innovation. Airtel better wake up or they would be sold again.... Rubbish

they sre only smart in collecting my #200 and giving me 2gb data i am not able to use for how many days now i have not been able to use 1mb and it has succeeded in killing my battery. this is crap, just as they were also smart in defrauding customers telling them 20gb for 3000 and they end up giving them 2 gb, stealing by trick

I think there's a law guiding this data bundles, moreover it's not compulsory to use it. There's 1.5gb for 1000 on 3G networks including airtel. And remember that the plan is for 2g phones. Not everyone owns a smart phone, some still use java and the likes. I think airtel is trying to consider those set of people. Or Mr. OP, can you subscribe for a 1.5gb data for 1k on a Java phone when you know that you won't finish the data before the end of the month, please leave airtel alone. I think they are trying.

Their 2g is wack compared to etisalat and mtn but their 3g is very fast and competes with mtn so I bliv its a scam, let them giv ne the speed of mtn 2g and I ll hail them. on the other hand life's all bout choices but if u wan do good kukuma do the good in full.

Nigerians like wahala sha! This plan was made for feature phones with 2g/edge or people who stay in remote locations without strong signal. My brother uses it to stream YouTube on his small Nokia. Stop complaining....activate an android plan.

Bastard network

The subscription is wasting away on my phone

It won't even open a page.

Op, if i get with 70kb/sec . I will be super happy.

Its like 2-3kb here and signal is super strong

Even I still get stable 35kb on mtn edge..
Its like they even throttled the edge speed as if its not slow enough

Awon werey.

the question is did Airtel forced you to Opt in for their data?
Secondly yeah some countries are on 4g and think of joining 5g but Airtel purposely introduce this offer for a specific reason best known to them and it's not as if they hid any information after all it was clearly stated 2g/edge network
Thirdly reducing the price of data to lowest amount dn't stop some persons from cheating their network
fourthly subscribers best weapon to deal with them is not to buy such product as it sends wrong signal for them to sit up. Haven't you wonder why up till now inspite of complains from most persons glo have bluntly refuse to upgrade their internet in some states instead they still brag about being the largest data network? didn't the increase in their bis from N1,000 to N1,400 made them lost some subscribers and as a result lead to the introduction of a new plan @ 2gig for N1.000.
