without strangers, it's very difficult to see an indigene that's not a Muslim... but Ilorin generally(both strangers and indigene) consist of 70% Muslims

Boltonboyan:
These people are local govt workers and were protesting over non payment of salaries. Constitutionally, it is the duty of local councils to pay them as the state govt also caters for the salary obligations of its workers. Despite this, the Kwara state government under Gov. Ahmed is making frantic efforts to ensure the problem is resolved. The State govt is proposing to take over funding of Junior secondary education from the Local governments. This will be reduce the financial burden of the LGs.

We should understand that the salary crises is not peculiar to Kwara only, it affects almost every state in the country. Few days ago, local govt workers in Edo State protested over nonpayment of their 17month salaries. In Nassarawa, workers are still on strike and the governor has told them to accept 50 per cent cut in their salaries. In ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Delta, Plateau, Kogi, Niger, Oyo, etc, the salary situation is almost the same.

There is a need for the national and state govts to take measures to revive our economy, else, the salary problems will persist. The sad reality is that no amount of demonstrations or protest by workers will solve the problem. It is time government at all levels think for ways to improve the economy.

This is my humble opinion. You're entitled to yours as well.
Take your sanctimonious thrash and shove it in your posterior. You think you're talking to illiterates here. Do you have any proof to show that those workers are indeed LG workers instead of KWSG workers?

Let me expose your hypocrisy. As at April this year, Ahmed was owing 3 months salaries. It is in this link.

I smile at what some people think Kwara is a Hausa-Fulani state.
First, this type of situation where you get mixed tribe in one state is coz of its proximity with another state with its unique tribe.
Take for example Anambra, home to 90% igbos and about 10% igalas. Edo,90% Edo people say abt 10% Yorubas. Delta and Rivers with mixed percentage of tribes with igbo because of its proximity with the igbo land.Kwara 90% Yoruba, 10% Nupe, Hausa etc. Though Yorubas lost the seat of traditional power because of the battle with the Oyo Empire by Afonja. It was during the creation of states the mapping out wasnt properly done.

What proof do you have to suggest that the protesters are LG workers?

The Governor is not responsible for the payment of LG workers, but he collected bailout for the payment of LG workers.

May Allah run your life the way Ahmed is running Kwara state.

olodo rabata, hausas don't have a single emir in the North except one, i cant remember right now, all the emirs in all the Emirates in the North are fulani by blood, mind you it its only Gombe state that fulanis are monoethnic, the rest they are minority, they use Islam/hereditary monarchy to to rule over all other tribes and groups, ilorin was never conquered, its leader was deposed off not the people, no war was fought no one was enslaved in ilorin, the people converted, after a considerable part was converted the Islamic leaders deposed the leader and imposed sharia law and swore allegiance to the sokoto caliphate, am sorry but Its the same way boko swore allegiance to Isis.

Unlike you that adores thieves and looters under the guise of respect for leaders, I point out the truth to them. People like you are servants to everyone and inspirations to no-one.

I repeat, do you have any proof that those protesters are LG workers?

Here is proof that Gov. Ahmed is an irresponsible administrator who is owing salaries of his workers.

http://m.news24.com.ng/Nigeria/National/News/full-list-of-states-owing-workers-salaries-20160429

The bailout the governor collected was for the workers both KWSG and LG.

If you celebrate thieves, it shows you're also deficient in honesty. I don't spare people like you, I have lots of hard knocks for people like you.

As Events unfolds, its so sad to allow political miscreants and sponsored thugs to take over a state whose government is constitutionally formed. I must say that the protest was hijacked by enemies of the state who had been looking for the opportunity to strike the govt in any way possible. As we all know that the issue of salary in Nigeria is not a state problem but a national issue that needs urgent intervention from the Federal Govt.
In one of the meets held with stakeholders in the state, we could hear Governor Ahmed say that his administration would take over basic education in the state. If he( the Gov) didn't have the people and the state in mind would he ever make such an offer? No! We need to open our mind so wide open and think outside the box. Personally, I am of the opinion that the LG workers also have crippled the revenue generation in that tier of Govt. Some of their IGR goes into a pocket that can't be accounted for. Pls, let's wake up... God bless kwara!!!

I schooled with the grandson of the late Oba of Lagos, the present Emir of Ilorin, the son of the Oba of Efon Alaaye and other royals. We all spoke Yoruba when we were not speaking English. The Gambari guy couldn't speak a complete sentence in Hausa or Fulani even to the Hausa and Fulani guys in school.

I think this goes to show who is what.
even his Grandfather SuluGambari requested for his food in Yoruba this afternoon.

The emir family speak Yoruba, it was only their forefathers that have affiliate with Fulanis .....

But if Nigeria were to divide , there will surely be war over Ilorin between Hausa/Fulani and Yorubas huh .... Emir of Ilorin in a bid not to see his heritage, influence and power to be curtailed/limited, he will signal to Sokoto Caliphate and Jihad is the answer .....

Right now we have Emir of Ilorin and Magaji Aare ......

These guys speak Yoruba and their culture have metamorphosed into Yoruba cuz they bear both Islamic and Yoruba names but they all know their ancestors are Fulani, they know their stories and their root and we Yoruba also remind them who they are

Ilorin Emirate is so vast and bigger now, no emir would want his influence reduced when the time comes.
