The present day Ilorin is nothing but the melting pot of the tribes we have in the state,as well as the capital.
I don't even think the place held any cultural prominence in the Old Oyo Empire(i stand to be corrected),and when you bring the betray of Afonja into the picture,you'll see why Yorubas are not pulling all the stops to get it back --like they did against the Nupes to recover the Old Oyo.
