Make-up is what it is 'make up'. It implies inadequacy and discontentment with one's natural facial beauty.

Makeup hides the real person. For this reason it is deceptive. The greater folly is make-over which completely makes the wearer complety unrecognizable even by a groom!

These are extreme expressions of feminine beauty sentiments to attract attention provoking competetion to outdo others, by more makeup, weird looks, rag-clothes and more exposed curves.

Many chemicals in cosmetics get into the body to cause harm. Moderation is the watchword.
