Very educative write-up. But I still blame educational system because it is only here in Nigeria dat a graduate of engineering, after having searched for jobs and couldn't get one, now turns into an hip hop artiste.

What services can you render that people will have to pay for? Have you wondered to ask yourself that question? To survive in this ever growing world, you must have something that people will pay for, if you don’t have one, it’s time you try as much as you can to provide services in exchange for money, the more the services you are able to render, the richer you will become. Think about it!
@ OP,

The above is the best part of your post.
Let those who have ears not only hear but more importantly, let them take action.

ehya...the reason its 22k is because I play for two church one in the morning the other one is evening service 12k per service and its too poor why I collect it is because av not finished my final course which is sheet composition so no certigicate yet.

bro....the man who thought me collects 10k per hour he was trained by a Chinese man he currently plays for ebomi ministry an organ that cost them 115million naira (america classic o7) made by johanus the company who made it came to Nigeria them self's to install it and its the first in west Africa and electro pipe organ please Google it... playing organ ain't child's play so please never argue blindly he currently teaches the former governor of plateau state Jonah hang and gets a monthly pay of 50k so what are u saying his church pays him 35k st pirians per service..I won't further argue share and pls drop your email I will send you the photo of the organ and mind you the organ is different from a piano by Gods grace my pay go increase...its not a must for u to believe sir but its the truth....how was your day!

We should first blame our educational system for making our graduates half baked and unemployable. Then we should face the ugly reality that making money lies on our strategy and flexibility to think outside the context of our educational package, the ability to identify business opportunities and tap into it with purpose.
pls can u create another thread on d kinds of skills one can acquire to sustain him as an undergraduate. tnx

I disagree with you. Our graduates are not half baked. Fine the sciences need more practicals but they can get them outside the four walls of the school. If you understand what you're taught in school very well then the practicals won't be a problem. I will instead blame the students. We have lazy students. I was once one and I now realize that.
so u saying the Educational system in the country is great the problem is the students

is dat Wat u saying just wanna be clear on dat

Nice write up my man!

Even if someone is able to secure a good Job one still have to mind his/her own business

Robert Kiyosaki said something in his Rich dad poor dad series that really changed my orientation;

"Financial struggle is often the result of people working all their lives for someone else"

Our current educational system focuses on preparing us to get good jobs by obtaining scholastic skills even if your faculty is "faculty of Money" they will never teach you how to make money; then at the end their lives will now depend on their wages, that's why we often here I need a raise

We as youth no matter how lucrative the course we sturdied, sturding or want to sturdy is let's try and find something worthwhile to venture into our father's are "poor" because of the mentality of go to school get good grades and secure good job, let's think of somthing we can handle and gradually grow it up, go online even on this Nairaland their is a lot of things that's been dig out that even if you don't go to school at all you can go into it and become someone in life...Let's Think! Think!! Think!!!

There is something wrong with the education system in Nigeria, we were trained by professors who know only theories. Imagine if we had the likes of Aliko Dangote, Tony Elumelu, Steve Jobs as part time lecturers, a lot of us would have graduated with a business orientation and not job seekers.
It is professors that train students, no where in the world
does a bill gate or Dangote enters class to teach students.
You can always educate yourself business-wise if you have
a passion for it.

That's not what am saying. What am saying is that we always like to look for excuses every time instead of taking responsibility and accepting our shortcomings. I don't see how you any better if you go outside to study accounting or business management. Graduates from here are doing very well in different sectors so why is their own different? They had private lecturers tutors from the UK teaching them?

It's not the fault of the educational system if an engineering graduate does not get a job. If there are engineering jobs available they would surely be employed. I don't see employers crying over no candidate to employ. For every single position available there are 500 applicants. This is not the fault of the educational system.

MOST of the engineering students are WASTING their time and money in school for five years when they are better off in a vocational training or technical school.
