Johnrake69:Have made that moves away from Nigeria for them.A move they would appreciate when they attain age of reason. I once believed in a better Nigeria like those before me. I don't wish to discourage your noble cause but you are chasing an illusion. The children of today's oppressors are being positioned to take over tomorrow. Close your eyes and see it. |

Almajiri1:In as much as this terrible, I fear you are right. I can see Nigeria being ruled by the same set of people and family for the next hundred years at least unless something radical happens. The process has began already. |

Too bad this won't work. Protest? Protest against what? And what would that change? You guys are better off joining the fire service if you really want to save lives. Government officials will come and as usual assure you of their commitment to solving the problem which they'll never do. If you want to change things, form a political party, spread your ideologies, and win the next election. That's the only way things are changed in the 21st century! |

Hehe. Someone needs to wake up and smell the coffee!! Nigeria will never change, not because I'm an eternal pessimist, but because I'm a realist as opposed to an idealist. The bulk of the youths today still support and are willing to die for the change movement, even while it's glaringly obvious they've been scammed, and sometimes you ask yourself, why are Nigerians so stupid and daft The northern oligarchy has systematically conditioned things in a way that will ensure that the status quo is maintained at least for 200 years. As much as i commend the efforts of the illumined youths who champion a revolution in Nigeria, i make bold to say its a pipe dream, like building castles in the air - "it'll never work". Here are my reasons, and they're open to criticisms: ■ the vast majority of youths who'll d be needed to spear head this revolution, reside in the north, a region ravaged by hunger and illiteracy, which ranks pretty low in the world poverty index. Despite wallowing in filth poverty and despair, these youths seem to be contented with the handouts being given to them, and will glady lay down their lives for their selfish leaders to cling to power. Educate the north, and Nigeria's problem is half solved. But the northern oligarchy has continually ensured that the growth of education is being stifled in the north, while their kids who will suceed em earn degrees from expensive and reputable universities in the uk. ■the religious card!! Now more than ever, Nigeria is being polarized along religious and ethnic lines. The northerners want a northerner in power at all cost, so do the southerners, the westerners and the easteners. A careful look at how hate speeches and invectives are being spewed out from either side of both ethnic camps against the other, clearly paints a gloomy picture of nigeria's future going forward. Incessant attacks and killings based on religion and ethnicity now seems to be the order of the day. A revolution can NEVER succeed in a country so irredeemably polarized, with one group having implacable hatred and resentment againt the other. ■The "i no wan die attitude". Nigerians are scared to die for their right, but the truth is that we really are scared to live, because to endure a standard of living akin to those of refugees and slaves in the advanced world, in a country with abundant resources and manpower (that rivals those in any other great country in the world), is death in itself!!! No country living in economic progress and prosperity today got it easy. It came with a huge price. And who's ready in today's nigeria to pay the price?? Your guess is as good as mine- NO ONE!! Everyone is "waiting for his or her call to be picked" when the power lies in their own hands to change their situation. "The gods will not do for a man what he has the capacity to do for himself". ■nigeria's irritable contentment with mediocrity and suffering. I watch in utter disgust as nigerian youths shower encomiums and eulogies on a leader who contributed a security surveillance bike to a community. For crying out loud, these looters are not to be praised, not even when they carry our their functions as stipulated by the constitution, how much more when they embezzle large chunks for thesmselves and their families, and hand out peanuts to their states and constituencies? Governance is a job. they are being paid and enjoy certain rights for the job they do. People who do their jobs well receive salaries as commendations, those who don't, get fired!!! I watch in utter amazement as nigerian youths hail politicians over commencing the same project over and over again, sinking tax payers funds into projects that will never be completed. Roads and bridges are often the major topics in campaign rallies, and naive nigerian youths, who have sworn to remain in their naivete will help stage massive rallies for these greedy rogue elements, because they promised to construct feeder roads linking their communities to big cities. In a democratic society, the supposed leaders are servants, and the god's are the people who wield the power of the ballot. But there seem to be no visible difference between democracy as practised in Nigeria and totalitarian and oligarchical systems practiced in other countries. I used to share the same sentiments with the proponents of youth revolution in Nigeria, but with the hard facts staring me in the face, it will be irrational and will amount to self deception on my part to believe it will ever materialize. Your vilifications and criticisms are all welcome!!! ![]() |

Hello everyone. I've always thought of starting something like this and I'm glad that someone else did, such person ought to be commended. I'm in 100 %. I think the first thing that needs to be done in this thread is the creation of management- in order to bring about orderliness. The "management" will be a body of elected individuals that will oversee the day-to-day running of this thread and all other social media platforms as well. A WhatsApp group should be created for the management to discuss issues for the furtherance of our cause and other related matters. Once the issue of leadership is settled, I'm pretty sure we can beat our chests and say that we've taken the first step. For now the "Ad-hoc" management should run things and give a date for the election. |

hobermener:Interesting view point and I agree with you to a large extent. However, I believe in the saying that whatever you learn you can unlearn. No body was born a bigot. Now, emphasis is on awareness. The peasants and the locals you referred to, cannot lead a revolution. Leading a revolution is the duty of the middle class who should make those peasants and locals understand that their lives can be better. Maybe we should have a chat. 7AB76D8D |
