Good day everyone, Nice job you guys are doing on this forum. I have been trying to find out how economical my car is in terms of fuel consumption. Just about a week ago, I had my fuel tank filled up.... I have since cover 400km and 50litres was consumed (with AC). Is this considered economical? My car is a Golf MK3, Automatic with Mileage of 180k. I will appreciate all you comments. Thanks in anticipation! |

Your usage: 400km---50L 8km------1L 12.5L------100km But Standard factory from http://www.auto-data.net/en/?f=showCar&car_id=8719 Combined consumption---- 7.6L-----100km so for 400km -----30.4L for combined consumption...... however other factors comes to play.... driving style, tires, engine conditions and quality of fuel, dispensing measures etc.... see gazzuzz for a tune up |

menstrualpad:Thank you so much for this information. I have gone through the link and I understand much better now. Would have loved to see Oga Gazzuzz right away, but I am not in Lagos. To achieve something close to this tune up, what are the things I can ask my mechanic to do? I am already planing doing general servicing! But I will appreciate if I can get some real pointers. |

Over which roads? MPG estimates don't factor in constant deceleration and acceleration to avoid potholes from damaging our cars. |

0rex:It was largely on the high way. I did lagos to Ibadan and to Akure in between. I have just been having a feeling that fuel consumption may be on the high side. Also, what are the suggestions for me to tune the car up and observe if there will be any difference? Thank You |

dharrey2012:Welcome. A standard tune-up is basically: Replacement of spark plugs. Cleaning / replacement of air filter. Oil & filter change using recommended types. Checking of suspension parts and wheel rotation. Checking of other fluids such ATF, power steering fluid, coolant and brake fluid. |
