President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to “discerning” Nigerians to ignore orchestrated attempts to sully the integrity of ministers and other senior government officials, who are being tarred with the brush of corruption without any concrete evidence, a statement by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, said Tuesday.

According to the statement, the president was reacting to reports, particularly by online media, that the immediate past Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), who is also Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, is being investigated over crude oil swap deals and gas liftings during his tenure as GMD of the petroleum corporation.

President Buhari appealed for decent and civilized comments, particularly when it has to do with the integrity of those who are serving the country, Mr. Adesina said.

“Terrible and unfounded comments about other people’s integrity are not good. We are not going to spare anybody who soils his hands, but people should please wait till such individuals are indicted,” the president was quoted as saying.

President Buhari reiterated the administration’s commitment to probity, accountability and integrity, promising that transparency remains a watchword, which would never be trifled with, the statement said.

Very true, u just reminded me of last time when they openly disagreed over an issue with the presidency threatening a reshuffle of cabinet due to some ministers having Crack! Never foresaw ibe's head would be the one to roll.

While some mumu dem dey attack their traditional ruler with cutlass, Buhari dey Abuja dey attack the future of the Niger-Delta and the South at large, including future generations.
This is why I marvel when I see some Delta and Rivers Indigenes alienating themselves from Igbos.
They want to carve out 0.5 percent out of 5 percent and answer Niger Delta. Then snatch back ''their crude'' which has been under the control of the caliphates right from time immemorial.'
Northern Nigeria has no single inland/deep[b] sea port[/b] but they control NPA(both management and board)
North Has No drop of explorable crude oil yet the minister of Petroleum and GMD of NNPC are Notherners
North has no Econmically viable custom import/export routes. But since I was born, they have been controlling Nigeria Customs Service. Well some insensitive persons who don't understand unsaid motives will ask me, ''are they not Nigerians?
Note these 3 sectors are the mainstay of our Economy (more than 90% of or National Revenue sources)at the moment. And the last time I checked they are being completely managed by Northerners. While southerners are busy hating and fighting one another. It's a big shame on all of us!
