GurlFriend:
Sabina Green ( not real name), daughter of the late Jessica Oluchi Elvis, former President of National Association of Nigerian Prostitutes, NANP has graduated from secondary school.

The 16-year-old girl who passed out from a popular private school in Ikotun area of Lagos, last Friday was crowned the overall best in Mathematics and Chemistry.

Following the death of her mother last year, life has never remained the same for the young girl who now occupies her mother’s bungalow in Lagos with her aunt – Clara. Elvis died October 25 in Edo State after suffering from heart-related disease.

In a brief chat with journalists during her graduation ceremony, the 16-year-old shared with a Daily Post reporter what she missed most about her late mum.

She recalled with nostalgia how her mum died in a Benin hospital due to doctor’s lackadaisical attitude.

She said,

“I must confess, the death of my mum shook me down to my bone. I thought my world had ended but thank God for his mercy and grace. I am still here and today, I am graduating from secondary as the overall best in Mathematics and Chemistry.”

On what led to the death of her mum, the teenager said,

“Doctor claimed it was heart disease but I suspect they are responsible for her death. When we came to the hospital, it took them almost 5 hours to admit my mum. After that, they said the doctor went to Auchi and didn’t return till evening. When he eventually came, he referred us to another hospital the following day, where she eventually died. I was with her in a hospital in Benin City when she passed on.

Before she died, she asked me to go get her recharge card downstairs that she wanted to call grand mum but before I came back, she’d gone. I nearly cried myself to death because I never expected her to die that time.

I pity all of you people mocking this girl ... Even if her mum was a prostitute , how many ladies or guys here are better of her mum? scanning you people , all of you are not virgins.. so why cursing this girl instead of encouraging her .. lastly prostitutes are very careful in their dealings compared to those ranting here with various forms of diseases which they don't know ....

*Finland is ranked No.1 in the world in Education. What’s so great there!*
• A child goes to school there only at the age of 7. The torture does not start at 2 ½ as it is elsewhere.
*• A child learns from each move that it comes across in this early age at home.*
• From the age of 7 to 10 the child spends 50% of it’s time in school and the remaining as vacation.
*• The school timings are also less and equal importance is given to Music, Arts and Sports too*
• The schools there have relaxation rooms for the children to take rest if they feel tired.
*• Until the age of 13 there is no grading and no report cards for students.*
• If their parents are inquisitive of the child’s progress they can apply to know that.
*• Since there is no grading there is no pressure on the student to compete.*
• They are not given homework. Students can do their homework in the subject of their choice.
*• A doctor stationed in each school monitors their health and advices.*
• Only a maximum of 600 students are permitted in a school.
*• There aren’t any private schools. All are Govt. run. There is equality in education for all.*
• 99% of children in Finland get primary education.
*• Students who hail from a country where there aren’t exams excel in competitive exams elsewhere.*
• You may wonder how this is possible. A UN research explains this…..
*• UN does an annual research about the happiest children in the world. Finland stands first.*
• Educationists from other countries flock to Finland to understand their system more.
*• 1500 representatives from 56 countries go there every year.*
• The country’s major foreign exchange comes from education tourism.
*• A teachers job in Finland is highly valued .*
• The teachers there have a major stake in the laws and policies of the country.
*• Every third child there wants to become a teacher. But it’s not so easy.*
• Only students who excel are considered for this post.
*• They are given 5 years of Teacher Training, 6 months of Military training, One year of onsite teacher training, Training in the Laws and Policies, Fire service, Self Defense, First Aid.*
*Thoughts to ponder:*
• Don’t find fault in children. Don’t hesitate to appreciate when they do good.
• No one knows what a child can become. Keep encouraging them.
• Edison was considered dumb and thrown out of school.
• Louis Pasteur was an average student in school.
• Einstein was considered an idiot in school.
• Talk to children daily about their goodness.
• Don’t compare a child with another.
• Talk about successful people to them.
• Instead of telling them how not to be, just tell them about how to be.
• Don’t curb them to the house
• Give them good examples and independence.
• If you talk to them about a bed of flower they’ll understand the path of thorns.
• Tell them about hardwork. They will get to know about laziness.
• When you tell them about successful people they will understand the reasons for failure.

Amen for her, thank you, you have just said to her all she needs to refer to as she moves on in life. May His grace stand with her in good health to go through the tertiary stage of her education. She will not see reason to live the way her mother lived. Definitely, she will come out better than those that will mock her.

Daughter of a prostitute

There is dignity in labour.

there is no dignity in this kind of labour. Haba! angry it's people like you that encourage this sort of nonsense.
Ashawo no be work angry

while I congratulate the daughter for her achievement so far, I challenge her to work hard, advance her studies if she can, and live a life way better than that of her mother.

On another note, i'm saddened to realize that nigerian healthcare delivery has not changed much since I left. that a patient is ill and they keep her waiting. there should be a functional emergency room within every vicinity in that country. we dont have efficient emergency rooms in Nigeria.and this is 2016.
I dont know what to say . . . . . . . . . .whom should I blame for this nonsense now . . . . . . . . . undecided . . . . . . . . . BUHARI . . . cheesy
