I agree because even if you get all the conversion 100 percent correct, I can't recommend that anyone will be safe in that vehicle. The manufacturer safety will be heavily compromised and the electrical will be a ticking danger for the occupant

It is worth noting, the Range Rover Sport, uses CAN communication for the instrument cluster. Incorrect coding, can result in limited, or no functionality.

The LCD screen that indicates which front door is open, is also fed via the CAN gate. You can't just swap wires round. If you open the left front door, it will indicate the right front door is open, and vice versa. The same applies to the rear doors. You might need a LHD can module. I had a similar issue, converting a 2007 Range Rover Vogue to LHD, I can't remember how I got round CAN issues, I'll have to dig deep to see what I ended up doing.

It's not an easy job, lots of scope to get things horribly wrong. Honestly, it's cheaper to sell your Autobiography, and purchase a LHD Range Rover Sport. Then fit the trim and other accessories, that make an Autobiography what it is. I know you said you'd lose money, if you sold it. But that's life. You purchased this SUV new, so you will always lose money, come resale time. It's not an appreciating classic, it's a current, depreciating mainstream model.

I recall you saying you'd supervise the job in Nigeria. But, really? Come on, man! If you truly knew enough about the swap, you'd be doing it yourself, before exporting the car! I have no idea how Nigerian garages operate, but I know one thin g's for sure - I would not have the owner of a vehicle, watching over my shoulder, while I carry out a procedure, that's as complex as this. If the customer did insist, then I would politely advice him or her to take their car elsewhere.

Since I am a novice mechanic, what I will advice is, there is nothing you are looking for that is not available here in Nigeria. Siena has advised it's better to sell than convert so the question is this

1. Are you after the diesel engine or
2. It's the trim that's your concern

If i were in your shoes, I will look for someone to source for that same car in Nigeria with the right hand drive as in the side with the recommended driving position "hey I just rhymed there" sell off yours and then the expert will advice what you will need to put that into top notch shape besides naira has depreciated so you are covered. In lay man's terms
By a Nigerian used "cuts cost"
Ship the required parts to make it look good
Sell off the Europe one
Fix the parts into the Nigerian used
Good job well done

Autobiography is pure water in my area Lagos (Ikoyi, VI, lekki) and Co. But the diesel nah the issue I think they are petrol.

But bros if you want diesel, you will get but it will cost you not only money but stress too.

It wasn't smooth all the way even tho the mike guy seems to know his onions

Most,if not all of the parts,were sourced locally...u can't see it and think it were converted if not for the plain rear windows dat can get u thinking.since we av most rrs here from Yankee with tinted windows

I think it is doable....and yes,u have to be breathing down the conversion guy's neck all the way

Especially those dat are used to cutting corners

[color=Blue]Eric, since you are aware that there are good technicians in Nigeria, the only reason you would patronise the bad ones, are cost. You want a top notch job, but you're not willing to pay for the privilege.

Take your car to a franchised shop, or at least a shop with good credentials, then you can at least relax. If they wreck your car, they have a lot more than just their reputation to lose - it'll cost them financially too. They will also have Public Liability Insurance.

Anyone who hangs around my shop, in the name of "assisting" or "supervising", won't get their cars fixed by me. Besides, what you want doing to your Autobiography, won't be completed in 5 days, if it's done properly. I would say, at least 2 weeks. What do you plan to do then?

Sleep at the shop for the duration of the job?
Stay for each day, and tell the technician to stop work, when you're leaving?
Stay for each day, and take your car home with you, bringing it back the following day, to repeat the same thing? *Flatbed truck*.

I think you're underestimating how much work is involved, in converting a 2011 Range Rover Sport Autobiography, from RHD to LHD. Find a franchised shop, and pay the rate set by them. Such shops would not agree to you watching them work, besides being extremely distracting, if your got hurt whilst you were "supervising", they would ultimately be responsible. I'm not referring to shade tree mechanics here, but real, trained technicians, who will be working to set standards.[/color]
