Hello everyone, I'll start by showing you the simple sleeve then we'll move to puffy sleeve. You don't need biscep length for now, you can introduce biscep length when you have known the basic sleeve.

Required measurements
This is a pattern for short sleeve that stops around the elbow.
*Armhole depth ÷2
*Sleeve length
*Round sleeve (R.arm) ÷2
*Round sleeve (R.elbow) ÷2

Sleeve pattern

Required measurements
This is a pattern for short sleeve that stops around the elbow.
*Armhole depth ÷2
*Sleeve length
*Round sleeve (R.arm) ÷2
*Round sleeve (R.elbow) ÷2

Step 1
Measure downwards from the first line, 2.5inches to get the slope length line. Measure from the first line downwards again to get the sleeve length line as shown in the diagram. The center is on fold.

Step 2
Remember we are using the derrived measurements from the calculated measurements now.
On the slope length line, measure your round arm and mark with a dot. On the sleeve length line, measure your round elbow and mark with a dot. Use a ruler to connect the two dots as shown in the diagram.

Step3
On the slope length line, measure horizontally from the center to the dot and locate the middle (that is, middle of the round arm), use dotted lines to mark the middle upwards as shown in the diagram.
Measure vertically the distance between the first and second line, (that is, middle of the slope length), use dotted lines to mark the middle.
The point where the two dotted lines meet is what we need, use a dot to mark that point.

Step4
Use a French curve to connect the first line to the mid point you marked.
Step 4b shows what the curve should look like.

Step5
Turn your French curve upside down and connect the midpoint to the second line (that is, the slope length line)
Step 5b shows what your curve should look like.

Step6
Use a tape rule or flexible ruler to measure the slope we just made (step4 + step5) if it will fit your required armhole, if not, extend the slope length line and use a French curve to reconnect it back to the sleeve length line as shown in the diagram.

Puffy sleeve
The measurement is the same with normal sleeve. Also choose your desired measurement for the puff, you could use 7inches.

Step1
Pattern a normal sleeve but leave enough space at the top of the sleeve for the puff.

Step2
Measure your desired puff length above the normal sleeve and draw an horizontal line.
Use a French curve to connect the line you've drawn to the mid point of the normal sleeve.
At the mid point, draw a small curve like the one i labelled AB.
Step 2b shows what it should look like

Step 3
If you want your puff fuller, extend your curve and extend the slope length also. The dotted lines shows how to do this.
