Am not a fan of ajimobi, but truth be told and things might not be going well as expected in the state like every other states across the nation. But undoubtedly a good number of roads have been constructed in the state, jericho dualisation, agodi gate dualisation and many more that are going on. He has indeed tried. There is a great facelift for the city. I knew how ibadan wasn without those roads, it wil be far cry from the present state. I hear people say the buildings adorning the city landscape are private investment. Do u expect it to be govt investment? Even lagos and abuja without good roads wil be shadows of itself. Take all the good roads in abuja and lagos to ibadan, then u'll see. Why good roads make a city. And are the houses on the roads in lagos and abuja owned by govt? Answer is NO. I think road is important for any nation or state to grow. However, ajimobi, pls pay workers salary.

The city has already overtaken Enugu and Port Harcourt it should be primed to over take Johannesburg as the largest City in Africa and if Nigeria gets its bearing right then with investments from multinationals it can be primed to overtake cities like London and Tokyo.

Places like Eleyele, Bodija, Jericho can become mini cities within a mega city while the lagos ibadan expressway can be converted into the world longest boulevard with palm trees adjoining the sides and solar powered street lights to aid night driving

Ibadan's development, like Lagos and Ogun states, is moving faster than a tsunami.

Ibadan is such a beautiful city.

It will take more resources and manpower to develop because it's such a huge city,

~the largest in Africa~

27x the size of Enugu state.

Give or take 5 years, the SW will be a force to reckon with.

#ProudBrownRoofRepulic #ProudYoruba

Nothing can stop the storm in Ibadan.

who dash Ibadan largest city in Africa?

Ibadan has always been the largest city in West Africa. Note, I said city and not state. I'm not referring to Oyo State now o, but Ibadan as a city. Not the population, but in terms of geographical area in Nigeria, and the whole of West Africa.

I love Ibadan!!!!
Even though I've never lived there, but used to visit there growing up. I remember when Trans amusement park was first started there, then the zoo at Ibadan in those days, IITA abi what's the name of that agricultural center, Cocoa house- Nigeria's first sky scrapper, UCH- Naija's first teaching hospital, UI- Naija's first university, First TV station in AFRICA, Ibadan na pace setter.

Ibadan leads, others follow

Ibadan for s'owwww!!

i always wish to work @bolded......passing there everyday

not by size but by infrastructure, it should take any nigerian city at least 150yrs to match the infrastructure and quality of life in joburg. trekking round in joburg for 2 weeks and i saw bare ground in only one area - Ramburg. 3/4 of houses in our cities will even have to be demolished first

Op, why haven't you posted the pictures of Iwo road, Agbowo, Adegbayi areas? Are these areas no longer in Ibadan? Ibadan has some beautiful areas sha, but don't exaggerate the beauty of the city cos they still have a long way to go. I can confidently say that, all things being equal, Ibadan can never overtake cities like Onitsha and Enugu

You obviously have not been to Enugu. I'm equally from the and have lived in Ibadan briefly. The city may be undergoing a facelift, but it does not come CLOSE to Enugu.

Btw, there are other cities in the South ahead of Ibadan. Calabar and Uyo DEFINITELY comes to mind.

How did you feel when typing this? Those cities are sleeping, right? You want to overtake cities that have hosted the Olympics when you don't have constant power supply(a necessity)?

My fellow Nigerians are a ludicrous set of individuals.

You dey mind the eediot? Yoruba guys are 2 mouthy, childish as well as selfish. They're just overtly competitive over nothing! What's this obsession about always looking for every flimsy excuse to taunt their southern neighbours especially the South East? Are they possessed or just plain stuupidd? Haba! How can a sane human being compare Ibadan to London and Tokyo? Am sure the guy is a Yaba left escapee! Wonders shall never end! Am very sure Enugu, Port Harcourt, Uyo and Calabar all surpass Ibadan in aesthetic beauty as well as other indices of judging/ rating an urban settlement. Ibadan is too CROWDED & jam packed! Pls u guys should stop all this tribal bigotry! Nonsense!

Yes, ikarm17 is right. According to Wikipedia, the land area of Enugu 'city' (the 'developed' part) is a mere 43.63m sq., while Ibadan's is 1,189m sq. So na 27 Enugus go fit into Ibadan landmass cheesy

U must be a maad Yoruba dog! What's all this nonsense about? Can't you get a life? And stop all this tribal chauvinism? In the other thread u guys were all over the place shouting yourselves hoarse about Dangote's Refinery as if it is only going to benefit Yoruba pple. Besides, I don't need visa to come to Lagos just like every other Nigerian. So why all the hype? After all, another Refinery is being built in Lagos by an Igbo guy Emmanuel Iheanacho. Dangote himself is a Northerner not even Yoruba! What wld have happened if he were Yoruba? U guys wouldn't have allowed anyone rest with your noisy tantrums, I swear! This is not fair at all! Nothing is permanent in this world. I know you pple are happy that the Igbos and the South South are being marginalised in the Nigerian Project but it will end someday. Talking about Infrastructure, only a few months of war in these modern times can turn a hitherto well developed city to rubble. Ask the inhabitants of Aleppo in Syria for instance. Nobody is praying for that fate to befall Lagos, God forbid! Just trying to drive home a point. Enough of the tribal hate it doesn't pay. Signing out!

Enugu as a state is one hell of a small place, talk more of the enugu city itself if you gather all the developed regions of ibadan and compress them into just two local govts you'll see that enugu is just starting. It's not a walk in the park developing 11 local govts as a city is it?

Chief, dunno why u ar taking this thing personal. Disregard the tribalistic comments that might have followed this thread, but respect theview of op, he's only airing his pictorial view about ibadan. There have been diverse threads inthe past on this forum that bore numerous pictures about cities across Nigeria, most especially frm the east, and u need to see the comments on those threads as well....so take a chill pill about this.

And pls don't bring the issue of marginalisation into this cos even the Yorubas suffer frm this.....

Yorubas have suffered more verbal assaults than any other tribe inthe south...been at several Igbo weddings in Lagos,it seems their MCs are just there to make fun of Yorubas, comedians, even those who havnt been to a Yoruba state before send their insults frm wherever they are,but that doesn't stop them from being who they are....so whatever thing being said abt other tribes too doesn't change who they are ....so chief, take it easy. Happy new month to u

Okusi:

leave that thing abeg. I'm also from Ogun and thank God we are developing at a pace that is awesome but the governor centralised infrastructural development on Abeokuta alone. go to Sagamu, Ijebu Ode. the work isn't as rapid as that of Abk. We need all round development for our States not for the capital city alone. come to think of it, Sagamu is the industrial city of Ogun but government presence aren't visible. see Ewekoro too

If Sagamu is the industrial city' of Ogun state according to u, pls what shud we call Sango-Ota then? 'Industrial Country' of Ogun state i presume.

Guys!!!! We are being scammed here. Most of the pics posted were taken from just about two or three locations (Ring Road to Challenge, Mokola & Bodija). There are very many bad roads in Ibadan right now.

Anybody that knows Ibadan should please go to Oju irin Akobo road, then you would know that we don't have a government in Oyo state. There are several other densely populated areas in Ibadan like that with very deplorable roads. With the exception of the Mokola flyover, majority of the roads being showcased by OP were done by past administrations in Oyo state.

My verdict: Ajimobi is a huge joke on the good people of Oyo State, particularly in Ibadan and specifically those masses living in the Oju-irin Akobo axis!!!

While I do understand your post, I was not in anyway being tribalistic with my post. My question to Kettykin is same I would have asked anyone whether Ibadan or Enugu.
Moreover, there's not wrong in competition. The world is competitive, we must compete, however, with common sense.

Most Nairalanders are tribalistic, I try not to be one.
