Who was President of nigeria in 2009? i believe it was that person who appointed Sanusi as CBN Governor, why didn't he tell Yaradua then that subsidy was a scam or challenge Obasanjo that subsidy was a scam?

Jonathan tried to remove subsidy during his time and Sanusi was the CBN gov then, because Jonathan knew it was a huge scam but the APC people in power now fought against it, only for the same APC people who supported Sanusi to become Emir of Kano, to turn around and remove it.

Sanusi was also part of the foolish people that created the policy, so please who is scamming who here?
Sanusi is a riff raff. Who dey listen to foolish man

Our beloved GEJ removed subsidy 2011 and they wanted to crucify him, some idiots from the West tunde bakare and co where financed by Tinubu to cause coax in the west and other parts of Nigeria.
GEJ being a leader that listen to the cry of his subjects was compelled to adhere to the cries of the masses.
Corruption has sincerely eaten deep into our system.

Enough of the finger wagging Mr Sanusi! This chap is part and parcel of the fiasco that is a rudderless Nigeria. corruption personified! His skewed grants to northern institutions from the CBN vault, to the detriment of the rest of the country are well documented. Rising to the pinnacle of the banking profession, brandishing a worn out sudanese degree in shariah can only happen in a distorted space ruled by clannish upstarts. You are part and parcel of the problem, and any serious change in this country can only endure when a clan of over pampered/over dressed so-called royals like you are effectively consigned to the dustbin of history with all your conservative/atarvastic trappings!

In 1st January 2012, who removed the fraud called fuel subsidy and misinformed Zombies like you took to the street. Now you people are seeing the result of your foolishness and you are looking for who to blame. Even the Sanusi knows the truth for gullible Nigerians like you cannot see.
Tell them bro. Tell them. The Cabals that be swore to make nigeria ungovernable for GEJ just because he stopped their fraudulent activities, the problem with Nigeria is tribalism. The moment we stop sentiments we will move forward.

Left to me, i prefer the military invade the Niger delta creeks to smoke out the scavengers crippling our oil wealth just like they did in arepo creeks. Negotiations is not the way out. Bombard the idiiots and let them know force is the only reply from the government. Many states can't pay salaries because our oil production is dropping because of a few miscreants fighting for their pockets. We once fed the country with cocoa and agriculture money from the north and no youths from SW & North formed militancy. Lazy parasites waiting for monthly stipends from our oil wealth instead of looking for what to do sad
Resource control for every region is the mainstay of treatment of these senseless and unreasonable agitations from the Ijaws. Let 'em take hold of on-shore oil wells while the off-shore remains the FG's (cos the FG owns and maintains the territorial integrity, then they pay serious and heavy tax, backed up by serious legislation to the FG. If any nincompoop then blows up pipelines in the name of "freedom fight", that is war against the federation and such insane individual should be blown to smithereens, Olórun ñgbó. Sadly that may be a bitter pill to swallow, at least for now that diversification is a work in progress. But I can wager that that despite that arrangement, that place will be worse off than it is now in years to come. Or how d'you expect someone who can't do anything with 13% derivation to do with 50%, even 100% derivation? They will still end up protecting their looting lords like Alameiseigha, Ibori, Timpolo et al.

As per the states not being able to pay salaries, the same SLS theory applies to 'em state governors. They are mostly brain dead and bereft of novel ideas to make their states independent of stipends and hand-outs from the FG. Aside that, the little they get from the centre will rather be channelled into their own pockets that to better the well being of their state citizens. Even right now that someone has taken the bold step to try serving and past corrupt state governors to at least serve as deterrent to others, what we get is the cry of witch-hunt, harassment etc.

What Sanusi said is very clear. You cannot praise Jonathan on policies he was unable to implement - just because he thought about it.

I have always thought of building a school, you can't praise me along with produce educated Nigerians.

Back to the matter;

In 2009 when I became governor of Central Bank, the Nigerian government spent N291 billion that year subsidizing petroleum products.

“Two years later in 2011, N2.13 trillion was spent on the same subsidy, so has our population increased ten fold? It was very clear that this wasn’t oil subsidy; it was a scam.

This is just oine of the greatest heist carried out by the gele wearing woman and her master. Imagine using 25% of this year's budget to finance bogus subsidy claims. Even the most inteligent and unrepentant wailer can never come up with anything meaningful to defend this scam

“This is just on kerosene; can you imagine a country losing $120m every month to a non-existent subsidy on kerosene, and not on the PMS.

This one is broad day light robery. Nobody ever i repeat nobody ecer biught kerosene at a subsidized price of N50 -N55 per litre at any filling station. Just once in a blue moon that NNPC sells at the price at select outlets. who was swallowing all the money?

Today oil is selling below 50usd per barrel for over a year now, everyone is crying economy.imagine we had all these monies in our reserves

God help us
You are completely wrong. before GEJ, nobody knew how much we were spending on fuel subsidy. The NNPC portion of subsidy was not accounted for. GEJ/Diezani made sure that all parts are included. Even when N200b was budgeted for subsidy the actual amount spent during Obj and Yaradua time were in the region of N500b to N600b. NNPC has the authority to deduct its expenses before remitting to the Federation account. It is called first line charge. When GEJ noticed the incresed in subsidy, he said no, this cannot be and must not continue. He removed it but the SW and some fools ganged up at Ojota, thinking that they were doing GEJ harm. Yes, it caused GEJ a lot of popularity and credibility; yet the masses are the losers. GEJ prosecuted the fuel subsidy thieves but till now, the courts have not convicted any of them.

we imposed this recession on ourselves. In 2010 when Jonathan removed fuel subsidy, many idiots opposed him. The finance minister then, Iweala did everything possible to convince some fools that subsidy was a scam, that it benefited only the rich and impoverished the poor masses, we chose to play politics with. Evil men then, now in APC including the dullard of a president, brainwashed the illiterates and they took to the streets to protest against subsidy removal.

God will deal with many both here on earth and in the world to come.

The protest was highly felt in the South West and in the North.

Nigeria oil fortunes was developed by foreign investment taken by IOCs from banks in their country. Thats is why they are called joint ventures. Nigeria gave them prospecting and production licenses and they in turn brought the equipment to produce the oil

All this cocoa and groundnut hogwash zombies spew on every thread is a BOLDFACE LIE.

NOBODY FED ANYBODY BEFORE OIL. Since then the few states from the south has been feeding the those up north. This is the fact. FG revenue was almost nill, the likes of poor countries in Africa

My view then was, subsidy is not a bad thing at all, the corruption in it made it bad. GEJ's govt could not be trusted with more money since they had more than enough. They inherited a moderate forex reserve, had the highest forex income in the history of Nigeria yet was enough that they depleted reserves instead of saving. They also lacked any will to stage a reasonable fight on corruption. N291b was already over bloated as subsidy, N2trillion was just insanely corrupt.

My own opinion then was, if they took so much as subsidy, i should atleast take at least N50/litre of PMS. It meant we are sharing the loot, however, i was been heavily cheated. I was going to have them remove subsidy them loot it without me having a piece of the pie.

Now, we dont have high income, reverse are down more than ever and even if looting will happen how, it is not as outrageous as it was so i can endure its removal.
