Aren't you lucky! I'm awake right now battling fever. Have already given three doses of pcm since afternoon, four hours interval. So now I'm down to water and towel.

By the way I've bought two diff. bottles of pcm, and they both said 0.4. Pharmacist also instructed 0.4. 2.5 might be effective as per 'kill the pain totally' but I still believe it's overdose except for calpol.

fever in a child of any age should not be taken lightly.

this is the reason why doctors/nurses that know that their onions will recommend paracetamol before and after immunisation. at my end, no nurse will administer immunisation at 6weeks without confirmation from the mum that the baby has been given paracetamol. in a case where the mum forgot to do so (which was what happened in my case), the nurse will administer paracetamol herself.

this is because once the fever creeps in, it can be hard to bring it down and what you have is a stressed/panicky mum and a cranky baby. doctors/nurses that recommend 2.5ml of paracetamol have their reasons. its better to use 2.5ml to prevent/stop the fever than use a lower dose and then have to use a stronger drug like neurofen to bring down the fever. I am the type that asks my doctors/nurses questions and this was the plausible explaination i was given to justify the use of paracetamol before and after. they also confirmed that it does not in anyway inhibit the efficiency of the immunisation. the main thing that affects the efficiency of any immunisation jab is how it was stored before use. such injections must be stored at certain temperature. how many hospitals in nigeria actually adhere to this?

in addition to this, i always ask to be shown the immunisation bottle/injection - i check the name and the expiry date to be sure my baby is being given the right thing. although some nurses are proactive and will show you all the labels on the bottle without you asking.

that said, have you checked your baby's temperature using a thermometer? if its still high, take your baby to the hospital.

p.s. Calpol is a brand name of paracetamol just as you have Emzor paracetamol and the likes.

Is it the formular she is rejecting or the teat!?

It may be she doesnt like the teat as i know a few people who have gone through a wide range of teats and bottle brands to get the one that their baby accepts.

Since you are thinking of weaning her, You can try given her a bit of formular from a spoon or even a cup! Yes it will be messy at the start but at least you may be able to tell if its the formular she doesnt like. Get one of those clear small plastic disposable cups so you can see her mouth.

Also, are you breast feeding her as well?

Have you tried giving her expressed milk from the same bottle? If she rejects that too it may just be the bottle/teat combo and not the milk.

Should you decide to introduce other foods, limit it to just a few teaspoons at a time and simple single flavours....i.e no mixy-mixy. And blend to a very smooth purree.
Banana, mangoes, cooked carrots, avocado, sweet potato are good for starters and remember to give some water as well to avoid constipation.

If it seems she is spitting it out... remember that spoon feeding and moving food in her mouth new to her. She needs to learn new tongue movements that move the food from front of mouth to the back and get used to the new flavours and textures. So be patient.

Thanks for the explanation. I gave him about 10 mins before the vaccination. Between hospital and house the bottle broke so had to buy another one, hence I have two bottles.

Yesterday night was not funny temperature hit 38 hence my switch to manual towel and water method. What really worked was a bath we took by 7am, brought temp down to 36.6.

Next time I'll defo demand to see vaccine bottle.

I had to come out of ghost mode to ask: What exactly are you looking for in a formular? You cannot tell if a particular brand has achieved the desired result in less than 3 days. Discuss with your hubby then come to table your requirements, Mamas should be able to suggest a formula that meets his needs,
Your baby's needs, not your hubby

Tnx 4 coming out of ghost mode to answer me. Wat we r actually looking for in formula is weight. Dat was d reason y we introduced formula in the first place since bm was taking long time. He at tyms changes dem based on reason dat baby turn to vomit after every feed. Suggestions will be appreciated.

Nursing Pillow for breastfeeding Moms. Call/Whatsapp 08030625817 to order! We deliver all over Nigeria
*FEED BABY WITH EASE
This nursing pillow is amazing! It gives support for moms that finds it uneasy to feed their babies due to backpains and all other after birth discomforts. It helps your baby to latch properly and suckle well.
*SUPPORT AFTER C-SECTION
Following a C-section, the site of the incision is going to be extremely tender. Using a nursing pillow can help alleviate discomfort from the baby laying against the incision, as well as providing some support for strained and sore abdominal muscles, which may help to speed healing.
*SUPPORT FOR BABY'S DEVELOPMENT
When babies are eating, it is important for them to be positioned correctly. Nursing pillows provide easy support for both nursing and bottle-feeding. For baby’s developing muscles, a nursing pillow props baby up in a way that encourages them to become more independent. When using a nursing pillow for baby’s tummy time, the position encourages them to use their arms and legs, strengthening several important muscle groups.

Alright, let him take sma for at least a week b4 you look for improvement.
My last baby does a lot of spitups (vomit is light & milky, spitups are more like yoghurt& curds). Sometimes more than half of what she just ate. Yet, she was twice her birth weight as at 14wks immunization. I'm just saying, be patient, babies don't become orobos in a week! ( I should know)kiss kisskiss

Kpele, for that vomiting, have you tried feeding in shorter bursts, e.g when eating 60 ml, stop at 30ml, burp, at 50ml burp, finish the food burp again.or while breastfeeding, Stop every 5mins & burp. Its tasking but it may help. Also try feeding him upright (hold him in a sitting position as against lying flat on your arms ), that's what my sister who experienced d same thing did. HTH

For the mothers asking about Dove soap for babies, this is what we use and was recommended for us: Dove Pure and Sensitive. The bar soap is cheaper than the wash. Please check your supermarkets for it, as per availability. In lieu of this, i think maybe Dove classic can work. You can start using it from 3 months, if youee uncomfortable with using it on a newborn (though Dove Pure and Sensitive is fine for younger babies) and don't get soap in their eyes. Please Google for more information about it. HTH

Hello Mama
Please I did not see Dove pure and sensitive soap. But I saw was Dove sensitive soap. Please are they The same.

Hello House,
Morning and happy new week to all y'all. I am a Father, 'New Father' and I hope men are allowed on this thread wink
Advise needed from y'all. My baby boy is just 3 weeks old today. A week ago,we noticed this rash growing on his neck, not heavy though but still noticeable, and we started applying MARHABA PRICKLY HEAT POWDER, and it seemed to subside, but reading the instructions on the powder pack, I saw that the powder is not to be used for children under 3yrs of age, we had to discontinue for fear or causing damage to the boy's skin. Now the rash on the neck has cleared but has spread to his face and spreading gradually. The baby does not sweat as our living apartment is big, airy and quite cool, so I might want to rule out rash due to heat. I iron his clothing even after they dry from washing, and his bed spread is changed every days. We use Cussons range of baby products. We use SUDOCREM for his bum bum(no rash on here though, but don't know if it can be applied on his face too.
What could be the cause of the rash on his body then, now on his face, and what can we do to clear it? Expert advice needed please.

Am not an expert but I want to believe that d body is adjusting outside womb.
You can use Rising baby powder.
Pls be careful when applying powder on him especially on his face to avoid baby inhaling it.
Also, u can be using Shea butter/ Vaseline as body cream for him.
As for me I don't cream my baby face for d fear of rashes and his face is so smooth.

This particular Thread was created by man so u r highly welcome.
