FULANI Attack : Military Invasion Of Niger State Villages by realjoker(m): 8:12pm On Aug 06, 2016

The military in Niger state on Thursday, August 4th, 2016, in the thick of night and in the wee hours of the morning, invaded Kpaidna, Legbe-dagma, Bambe, Kopa, Lunku and surrounding villages in Bosso Local Government area of the state, a very peaceful community in my constituency, Niger East Senatorial District.

The armed soldiers drawn from the 31 Artillery Brigade in Minna and the Airforce base in Bosso, stormed the villages in a brutal commando style at about 1:00 am, waking up the sleeping villagers, causing distress and inflicting pains on them.

The military has not given any cogent reason(s) for this crude invasion and brutality of my people, however I am of the belief that the claim that the villagers had piled up arms in their homes upon which the armed soldiers hinged a seal off and search operation in the village, is not tenable and totally unacceptable in a democratic government.

For the avoidance of doubt I would like to inform the public that this community was only about a month ago attacked by alleged Fulani herders during which many innocent people were killed and over 500 others displaced. Many of the victims of the heinous attack are still living in refugee camps in Minna and the military authorities in Niger state, I believe, are aware of this.
The trauma and the palpable fears that the said attack had instilled and inflicted in the community is still fresh in their minds.

I am reliably informed that, this time around when the sleeping villagers were woken by the brutal force of the invasion in the thick of the night, the first thing that came to their mind was that it was another attack by the same Fulani herders on rampage of their community which resulted in general pandemonium and commotion.

It is unfortunate that instead of the military to provide adequate protection to the helpless villagers, it has taken upon itself the onus of inflicting more pains on them in an unnecessary operation.

In any case if this operation was aimed at securing public peace and enhance security, as the military would want us to believe, I make bold to ask: Why was the police not aware and or involved in it? I am informed that members of the community had sent a distress call to the Police indicating that they were being attacked by “Fulani herders” and the Police responding to the call rushed to the scene only to discover it was a military operation that was on-going.
It is disturbing to note that the military yesterday indiscriminately arrested over 60 people from these villages over this incident and are keeping them in detention in the Military Barracks in Minna.
I call on the Chief of Army Staff, the Brigade Commander and the authorities concerned to immediately release the detained villagers. The fundamental rights of these Nigerians as guaranteed by the Constitution must be respected and protected. It is the responsibility of the Police to detain civilian suspects and not the Army.
While condemning the action of the military, I however wish to extend my sincere condolences to the families of all those that have lost their loved ones in this unfortunate incident and wish those injured quick recovery.
Finally, I wish to call on the Niger state Government to immediately institute an inquiry into this incident to forestall future re-occurrence.
Senator David Umaru
Niger East Senatorial District

We are calling on the good people of Nigeria to come to the aid of these poor villagers. The people of Niger state most especially those who resides in Minna the state capital knows that the claim of the Nigerian Army, that the villagers are stock piling arms holds no water, we all know that the Gbagyi people are very peaceful and accomodative, and the most peaceful. Many questions need to be answer. We don't want what happened in Agatu to repeat itself or the repeat of Odi massacre .
No sane indigene of Niger State believe the excuse of the NA.

FACTS:
the villagers actually stockpiled arms
the arms are for self defence because of the first attack
fulanis bribed the soldiers when they noticed they cant the win the villages in a shootout
soilders invaded in the night and started killing from house to house when the villagers mobilised and retaliated
almost ten soldiers were killed and some fulani herders were noticed to be among them in army uniforms
two soldiers are missing, they were said to have been "kidnapped" with juju by one babalawo in the area
Today, a low flying helicopter was seen patrolling around NECO national headquaters.
Later there was serious shooting in Kpankungu, a densely populated slum close to the affected village
CONCLUSION
most so called Fulani attack are actually carried out by soldiers
If the villagers did not arm themselves and kill these soldiers the news everywhere will be that the fulani attacked
This attack has exposed the brain behind ENUGU massacre, it was actually the Nigerian army backing the Fulanis

I am finding it hard to believe that soldiers and FULANI in camouflage are not the one behind the numerous alleged attack by FULANI Herdsmen on villagers, after this invasion in Minna environ villages. Being a party loyalist doesn't make someone a sycophant.. This madness have to stop.

MILITARY/VILLAGERS CLASH: MORE KILLED AS TROOPS RAMPAGE IN MINNA
More people were feared killed in Niger State yesterday after soldiers stormed parts of Minna in search of suspects who engaged troops in gun duel Thursday.
At least 10 soldiers and seven villagers were reported to have died in the clash between the military and locals at Kpaina village in Bosso Local Government.
The military said on Friday that troops had gone on a mop up operation to recover arms and ammunition from the village when they came under fire. Many soldiers were said to have gone missing following the attack.
Yesterday soldiers stormed Kpakugu area of Bosso Local Government area of Niger State in search of missing arms that their colleagues had lost in the clash, Daily Trust on Sunday learnt.
During the operation, the troops allegedly shot dead three more people.
The Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, David Umoru, confirmed that he had been informed about the killing during the raid by soldiers.
A source had earlier told Daily Trust on Sunday that soldiers had received information about a youth who escaped to Kpakugu area with one of the military rifles that went missing during the clash on Thursday clash and went to recover it. The source said there were gunshots at about 1am in the area that caused pandemonium.
He said the soldiers shot the suspect in the leg and took him away.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Niger State Police command, DSP Bala Elkana said the command had not received any information about yesterday’s incident.
The Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Major Njideka Agwu told Daily Trust on Sunday by phone that all information regarding the face-off would be made available to newsmen at a press briefing today.
Daily Trust on Sunday reports that many residents of the affected community and neighbouring villages have fled their homes over the crisis.
A middle-aged man from the affected community who simply gave his name as Abubakar told Daily Trust on Sunday that he had to evacuate his family to the home of a relative in Minna town.
He said he had taken his sick son to a hospital around Bosso the night before the incident, when he got a call that there was crisis in the community.
“I had to call one of my wives to get the rest of the family together and wait for me at a certain spot outside the village before I went to get them,” he explained.
He said though the atmosphere is a bit calm in the community many of those who fled during the crisis were yet to return.
Meanwhile, the Senator Umaru has called for the setting up of a high-powered committee to investigate what he called an “invasion” by the military.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Faruk Bahago, earlier yesterday, the Senator said the committee earlier set up by the state government to ascertain the remote and immediate causes of the clash cannot do a holistic job.
The Senator pointed out that the 24 hours deadline given by the state government to the committee to submit its report was hardly enough to unravel the circumstances that led to the crisis.

The Nigerian military and government have been infiltrated by unpatriotic elements, that is why Bokoharam and Fulani Militia attacks still persist. The only way forward is to identify and get rid of all the traitors in the Nigerian Military especially the army.
