The Current Trend Of Palm Kernel Supply In Nigeria. by brianromel(m): 10:28am On Jul 06, 2016
The current situation in Nigeria has seen an up tick of more people going into the Business of Palm Kernel Oil
More and more Palm kernel Oil Mills are being setup, across the country to meet the demand by various companies for it

The demand for palm kernel nuts has gone up.

But

The supply of palm kernel nuts, seems to have taken a nose dive.

Palm Kernel Nut suppliers now struggle to meet the demands of their buyers.

While the current violitility in the price of palm kernel nut has not helped matters for some suppliers.

As prices can jump from high to low to high while in the process of trying to make a supply, that by the time a supply is ready, the price is so low that there is no gain in making the supply.

Coupled with the issue of payment for supply.

The payment trend of most companies that buy palm kernel, is to delay payment for a supply for days, weeks or months.

Thereby effectively killing the business of the supplier.

At this rate, if things are not curbed in time, the current supply rate of palm kernel nuts, will continue to go down.

But is there an easier solution to this?

Is there a way to actually get palm kernel way below the current market price?

Hi Brian, thanks for the article. I hope to go into the palm kernel business myself, but I haven't made any concrete plans yet. Any ideas on what the future could hold for the business - short term / long term?

Thanks again.

Short term

Palm kernel nut and oil seem to be the new game everybody is talking about, with a large number people going into palm kernel milling and production, the demand for PKN is currently at a high right now.

Seems the demand for pkn can't meet the supply, as most pkn sellers are saying in the west have a back log of clients who have made down payments for pkn.

Palm oil still remains seasonal and local, with best gains seen by local producers who supply cities within the production areas.

Thanks for the response, Brian. Ive also been reading up on the articles on your webpage and it would appear the future is indeed bright for PKN.

Are you still based in Eleme/PH? If it is ok with you, I'd really really appreciate a site visit to your plant. Apologies for asking this on a public forum; please feel free to decline/ignore if it offends.

Thanks.

I just tried my hands on palm kernel nut supply myself and my first experience with the buyer wasn't a nice experience.

He delayed my payment for over 3 weeks and after deductions (because I rented the truck to convey the goods from him) I made only 20,000 from supply of 9.7 tons of nuts.

I've been trying to reach him to understand the deductions and find out if what I received was part payment.

Hello Guys, This is Ostrich Agro Allied Nigeria Limited. Talking about PKS, PKN, PKO these are all my products. however as a producer, suppliers of PKN try to play a fast one of the buyers. Many times the supplier supply PKN with a lot of impurities and tries to shortchange the producers. Also, transportation cost is another issue. the supplier as well as the buyer would not want to shoulder the transportation cost which is mostly exorbitant because of some task force (produce inspection officers stationed on across the nation. These are few of the issues

My dear, there are still some honest people in the business just that the buyers don't even trust themselves. They will just want to shortchanged you especially if you are new in the business.
