I will personally celebrate the man (Segun) if he wins just bronze at the tournament. The reason being that Asian invented table tennis and knows how to do it better and Segun is competing with the world table tennis champions not Africa champions. |

MykOnyxo:did you even understood what the guy you quoted said? He's saying this guy has been going to the Olympics for the past 28yrs, that are there not young vibrant potential players within the population of about 200million people they can train? Do you even know he has never won any medal at the 7 Olympic games he has attended? Can't you see how young the Asian players are? |

Sincere4u:Sports is actually a good way out of poverty. If this guy can mobilise some of our jobless youths who already play Table Tennis, coach them through local tourneys here in Nigeria and start selecting some of the good ones. We already have tables and paddles. And he has experience plus he can watch videos of Asian players to see what techniques they have. Then once he has something going, approach companies and people for funding. If we can get things working without waiting for government, government will come and look for you. If this man can have a popular training for Table Tennis at a stadium like Teslim Balogun, get small sponsorship and a lot of media coverage (not hard to do), and have people talking about his work, then even the next gubernatorial aspirant will be forced to treat with him for publicity (after all, presidential aspirants try and use celebrities for their own use) and he will get more sponsorship. Stop chasing easy money and start working. Our people keep looking for something that will make them hammer in 1 year's time. Once you start doing well, sponsors come easier. That is one of my issues with athletes, we see nothing from them until Olympics. The smart ones like Blessing Okagbare work their butts off and prove themselves and start getting sponsors. Most of the others will be waiting for sponsorship without results. |

This r the kind of news Nigerians want, not that of our selfish politicians that don't know what they r doing, always causing havoc everywhere. |

Segun Toriola is an experienced table-tennis player; only that playing the Japan and China is tough. |

2014 Male Table Tennis Star Quadri ARUNA (NGR) put the crowd into further shock as he played the match of his life to knock out world number seven CHUANG Chih-Yuan (TPE) out of the Men’s Singles event, dominating 4-0 (11-6, 12-10, 11-6, 11-7) “Last time I played Chuang Chih-Yuan was earlier this year on the ITTF World Tour in Germany, where I lost in four straight games, my goal today was to improve on that performance and fight to win one game!” stated a pleased ARUNA. “After I won the first game I became more confident. This is the best moment of my life and my career.” |
