President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday lamented that he currently presides over a country that has been stripped poor owing to mismanagement.

He told his guest, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Executive Director and Under Secretary General of the United Nations, Prof Babatunde Osotimehin, that the year 2016 has been a difficult year both for his government and Nigerians in general.

Buhari, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, at State House, said were it not for the systematic way his administration has been managing the economic crunch, the situation could have spiraled out of control.
