For once, I'd like to peer into the mind of a religious person. You hold onto your religion so tightly. My question is, WHY are you right? |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by hopefuLandlord: 11:00am On Aug 12, 2016 |
Because most of them were born into it |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Richirich713: 11:09am On Aug 12, 2016 |
Why are u right? |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 11:20am On Aug 12, 2016 |
Richirich713:I haven't claimed to be right, ever. I only speculate based on my understanding of things and available knowledge and data gathered from research. There is a lot I don't still know, and I am open minded. I'm asking why you, as a religious person, are so sure that you are right. Why? |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 11:21am On Aug 12, 2016 |
hopefuLandlord:Honestly, I'm more and more convinced that its the society they happen to find themselves in that contributed greatly. Religion thrives with poverty. |

AnonyNymous:You may be right about the society thing, but about religion and poverty? l don't think that's always the case, Great Britain is an example. In the 18th and 19th century, England was very religious, yet very prosperous, they had the industrial revolution and ruled the world and were still religious for a long time until perhaps the latter part of the twentieth century. America as a nation is not poor but very religious. |

AnonyNymous:Again i have to correct you and your obviously wrong mindset. You asked a question with this thread but the mindset behind your question is one of disdain for the same people you claim to be open minded to. Hopefullandlord was the first to rush and respond to a thread which you directed at religious people when he claims not to be religious and you immediately supported his comment which clearly shows the purpose of this thread. Its dead before it even began because its clearly everyone's waste of time. |

4everGod:He offered an opinion, and the first religious person that commented threw my question right back at me. I ask again, why are you right, and why am I wrong? I want to know why you feel your beliefs are superior. |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 2:23pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
AnonyNymous:He offered an opinion yet he isnt Religious and your question was directed at religious folks and what was your response to his comment? Honestly, I'm more and more convinced that its the society they happen to find themselves in that contributed greatly. Religion thrives with poverty. What a decisive and profound comment for someone who seeks anothers opinion and who claims to be open minded! |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 2:23pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
kilo4sure:Hmm, that's true. . . its southern America that's religious though, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee and the rest. I guess religion means something else to them. But here in Africa, I see religion being used as a tool for false hope, with sects promising rewards for being in that religion. . . making people believe that someday, if they just believe in a particular doctrine, they'll have everything they didn't have - whether its on earth or in heaven. . . what do you have to say about that |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 2:25pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
4everGod:Look, I'm not in the mood to go back and forth with you, if you want to contribute to the thread then do so. Those are my current observations and the reason why I created this thread, to know more. I could be wrong. I don't know why you like turning everything into an argument. |

4everGod:Stop beating about the bush and answer the damn question |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 2:30pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
theoneJabulani:I do not owe him an explanation. Simply because he is coming with a mindset that is already polluted by his disdain for religious folks as his own comments have shown even though he deceptively claims to be open minded. Thats the honest truth. Cheers! |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 2:31pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
AnonyNymous:Neither am i interested in any back and forth with you. I am only pointing out your mismanagement of emotions and lack of detachment of your innate feelings for religious folks from this thread. Its too clear to ignore! |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 2:34pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
4everGod:Feelings for religious folks? Please! I'm a humanist and have nothing against my fellow man! Those are the ideas and observations I've made about religion/religious beliefs based on what I've seen and here's a platform for you to attempt to provide a convincing explanation as to why you are right. Instead you've come to pick an argument here. |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by theoneJabulani(m): 2:37pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
4everGod:Am not surprised. Christians dogde questions as if they were bullets |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 2:40pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
AnonyNymous:Like i said, i am not arguing with you but just pointed out your mismanagement and self deceit on the thread. If you are a humanist then i am sorry but you are yet to deal with your emotions....they are a dead give away. If you have no ill feelings for your fellow men then why focus on Religion or religious people 100% of the time.. why not focus on more destructive issues in society or perhaps focus on Tradionalists or voodoo or even Atheists? Like i said, words are used but never in detachment to emotions otherwise we would be robots. Your emotional disposition is a dead give away. I am done. Enjoy your thread! |

4everGod:@ bolded, they're theists too bro |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 3:03pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
hopefuLandlord:I was not being selective with my comment. I was simply pointing out areas a self proclaimed humanist should focus and not narrow it down to religion be they whatever? Even in all of religion why not single out or itemize other issues? He knows what i am saying. I should claim to be more of a humanist than he is because even though i am a Christian and religious i care about my fellow men to the extent of wanting to go out of my way to actually do something about it and not just talk about it. Humanism is a philosophical and ethical stance that emphasizes the value and agency of human beings, individually and collectively. So a humanist should see value in people regardless of whatever negative opinion or view he has gathered through experience and as such his derogatory comment negates his very declaration of being a humanist. Get this right! This is not about his question like i said from the start. Its about his mindset and his verbal confirmation of his mindset which is why i call it deceit. So please do not hold brief for him and pls do not mention me again on this thread. Thank you very much. |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 3:34pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
4evergod , hold whatever opinions you wish about me. You don't know the efforts I make to help people so don't make assumptions. Traditionalists are religious too, and I told you already, I responded to hopefullandlord with my normal conceptions about religion. You failed to express any reason why I should accept that your religion is right. To be open minded does not mean you have no previous ideas. Don't get it mixed up. |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 3:50pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
AnonyNymous:In case you do not understand what i mean by deceit let me elucidate. Your Topic says "WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS RIGHT" clicking on that and entering the thread it now reads; For once, I'd like to peer into the mind of a religious person. You hold onto your religion so tightly. My question is, WHY are you right? Your topic began like a general survey but your question is now specific to religious folks and then you went ahead and profoundly declared that Religion is synonymous with Poverty. That clearly shows you already had a negative opinion about religious people so coming to ask them why they are always right when already you believe their opinions or mindset is poverty laden and poverty revealing is falsehood. You do not come to me and ask me "hey even though i know you are a devil but i want you to tell me why you think you are not" Then of what profit would it do you to hear my defense when already you have a conclusion. What you do behind the scenes is your business and not mine but i can infer on that based on what i picked up via your comments and attitude. You say you are a humanist but your body language betrays that as perhaps to you a humanist is just all about asking questions...No! Its about trying to see the good in the bad but you are not seeing the good in the bad rather you are seeing the bad from the bad and concluding that these people who carry out the bad are bad even though they might have some good in them. Again that is deceit because a humanist does not do that. A humanist picks the good in everything and uses this good to shape his or her life as long as he or she sees the proof of that good because they believe in themselves but you are doing the direct opposite. Do yourself a favour, be an objective person and do not try to deny your way out of a very obvious deceitful position. This would help your growth as a humanist and if on this journey you find enough proof to believe in God and not yourself then good for you but do not condition your mind and questions like a gate with a padlock whose key you have thrown away and you now expect someone without the key to open it for you. Thanks |

4everGod:Its more like "From what I've seen, you seem like the devil. I might be right or wrong, please explain to me why I'm wrong if I am". |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 4:06pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
AnonyNymous: Honestly, I'm more and more convinced that its the society they happen to find themselves in that contributed greatly. Religion thrives with poverty. Those were your words! The final comment of RELIGION THRIVES WITH POVERTY is a statement of fact from you and not a statement of enquiry so stop denying when you are wrong. |
| Re: Why Are You Right? by Nobody: 4:22pm On Aug 12, 2016 |
4everGod:I don't see how you take 'I'm more and more convinced" to mean fact. The last statement was the conclusion I drew from it. Convictions are based on observations, and if you have a reason to show why my convictions are wrong then bring them. |

AnonyNymous:I have shown you your error and inner problem. its up to you to take it or leave it. |

[i] When I was theist I used to feel sorry for non catholics and non christians because I thought they were all wrong. Even though I had to reason to believe they were wrong. The theist only reason that he is right is a "holy book" that can't be analysed. /i] |
