Rio 2016: A Finnish weightlifter Milko Olavi Tokola collapsed on stage during his celebrating.

Milko suffered a severe drop is blood pressure as he walked off the stage after hoisting 175kg above his head.

After initially raising his fists in the air in celebration he suddenly collapsed and tumbled down the staircase, where his team of coaches immediately rushed back to his aid.

Milko, who was making his Olympic debut at the Rio Games later regained consciousness. When questioned about the incident, he joked that it was a common occurrence.

“It happens sometimes, but that was the first time for a while,” he said.

“I have a problem where sometimes when I give 120 per cent I pass out. It’s when I put my body through too much in that moment.

“Doctors have investigated and they think maybe it’s to do with blood levels in the brain when I lift heavyweights.”
