I get you clear. I don't mind people doing it and like you said it's their life and business how they want to live it. What I wouldn't subscribe to would be when someone or people are clamouring I live my life they way others do... that I won't take. In Chimanda's case a lot of people were doubting her pregnancy because they didn't see the bump or hear about it until she made it public hence her publication

|

I think this girl has the same level of rudeness and sassiness as Genevieve Nnaji. I think it's even typical with IBO gals that have achieved a small level of success. They suddenly feel the world revolves around them. Thats how she was calling a grown matured man her "boy". She suddenly wants the whole world to view pregnancy the way she views it, any contrary view is "irritating". Rubbish! 2 Likes |

Lol.. some women just need to cool down and stop all this baby shower and bump none sense. What if you give birth and God forbid you lose the baby. Let ur pregnancy be your business. Don't post pictures everywhere looking for attention. When you give birth, you can now throw the biggest party and take all the pictures in the world. 1 Like |

Justeenaleo:Really? But when you ask a Nigerian woman who has been flaunting her so called "baby bump" when she is due, she cringes and frowns on the question as if you have mystical powers to terminate the pregnancy. I had one girl at the bank tell me that's not a question I should ask her in this clime. She said it is un-African. I call it confusion of the highest order. When she had the baby, I never said a word to her. They can't decide if to go with the western culture or the African one. 4 Likes |

Eons of evolution have programmed men to be attracted to women with flat midriffs and full bosoms, BUT that attraction is replaced with a deep-seated, innate and subconscious repulsion, when the women become VISIBLY pregnant, since that disproportionately huge middle and those droopy bosoms indicate that the woman has become a MOTHER, and has thus ceased to be a potential sex partner. This is not an opinion, but a cruel fact of biological reality, which perhaps serves the purpose of INSTINCTIVELY discouraging men from mounting women who are already pregnant. This is the precise reason why large numbers of married men proceed to cheat with younger SINGLE women, THE INSTANT their wives begin to grow in size due to pregnancy. Those men lose their interest in their pregnant wives almost as suddenly as if a switch was flipped, and find themselves HOPELESSLY attracted to women who are younger, with flatter midriffs, and preferably who have NEVER been pregnant. Personally, I find the current fad of women showing off their pregnancies to be utterly revolting, as well as a major turn-off. While I do realize that pregnancy is where we all came from, and is also the means by which future generations are created, I have ZERO interest in seeing that condition CELEBRATED and ADVERTISED as though being pregnant is the result of some unique and phenomenal talent that needs to be admired by all the lesser mortals who find themselves literally bombarded by online photographs of huge guts with such depressing regularity these days. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

DorisK: Come off it. How old are you and are you even educated? Do you know what a baby bump is? Do they expose their bare stomach in the market, church and everywhere else? Small children think they have opinions when adults are talking. 2 Likes |

Shortyy:Madam, did you read to understand? Did I say the Brazilian/Peruvian example was referring to Chimamanda? Did you see the part I agreed on the bare bump pics or you just want to exercise your quoting right? What is your definition of taking things personal? Her opinion, my opinion, your opinion... I guess, that's all. 1 Like |

Igbofirstlady: At a time when it has become a trend for celebrities to flaunt their pregnancies online, award-winning writer, Chimamanda Ngozi-Adichie, has said that pregnancy is a sacred state that a woman ought to be discreet about. I wonder where she got this crap from. I don't know why the media seek her views on anything other than her work. Just cos she can write doesn't make her a specialist in any other field. 1 Like |

Justeenaleo:Another reasonable view. But I go with Chimamanda's though. A woman by her very nature should epitomize noblehood. She does'nt really fit into public life nor does she fill comfortable with public glare. When in public related venture, it is her utmost duty to present herself as gracefully as possible. In so doing, she evokes admiration, respect and 'silently educates the man'. Modern fashion trends and related practices deceptively bearing in its brow the name ”progress” are just the hallmark of a stupidity, shamelessness and a general decline of the female folk, and sadly, man is helplessly dragged along. Lucifer in his knowledge knew that what he only needed to do was to conquer woman. The rest was history. That aside sha. There are so many things our woman still need to understand. It is only then there will come to an appreciation of Adichie as a shining example. 2 Likes |

Good day everyone This is just my personal observation concerning youthful Nigerian ladies of this generation. Chimamanda just shared her own opinion on a matter and most of them are crying foul. If it was an educational cum sociopolitical opinion by the said writer, most of our Nigerian ladies would not have gravitated towards it because they are grossly unintelligent and concerned with only vain things that don't build up a society in any way. And they are clamoring for a female president. Going by comments I've observed on this post, I fear for the day that time comes. That isn't to say that there aren't some intelligent female Nigerian youths. I am yet to see a critical analysis of her opinion on going public with baby bumps. All I've been seeing are "its her opinion, bla bla bla..." Look at female youths in other climes excelling in sports, science, medicine, business, society and governance etc. Yet, the only thing these lot here in Nigeria know is to seek attention on social media with unbecoming displays. I know I may be attacked but the truth must be written Good day folks. 3 Likes |
