A crowd of demonstrators took to the streets in Milwaukee on Saturday night following the shooting of a 23-year-old man by a Police officer.

A statement from the Milwaukee Police Department confirms that the man was indeed shot and killed by a police officer; “He (officer) ordered that individual to drop his gun, the individual did not drop his gun,” Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said. “He had the gun with him and the officer fired several times.”

The mayor added that the gun the deceased had on him was stolen; “The victim of that burglary reported 500 rounds of ammunition were also stolen with the handgun,”

The deceased, who has not been identified was in a car with a friend when he was stopped by police and both men fled when they were pulled over.
The other occupant of the car who also fled on foot was not shot.
