Trash...

From the naija movie to music to aba shoe making industry ALL BLOODY NIGERIANS patronise igbo goods without discrimination

I purchased a N300 lovely looking glass n asked the igbo boy to pass along down the purchase chain that whether it's nnamdi or osuofia that's written on the side...we don't care! They should just stop putting mutilated names of designers like RAY BAN On it.

In fashion cross culturally everyone buys agbada, fila, native prints, ss type of native etc

Nigerians are NOT tribalistic when it comes to consuming made in nigeria products... infact funny thing is how detribalised we are in that aspect. If it's good? We buy it

Re: Why Nigerians Don't Patronize Made In Nigeria Products by Nobody: 7:26am On Aug 15, 2016
I always promote made in nigeria goods, my clothes are locally made, my shoes and sandals are locally made, I use made in nigeria milk ( Three crowns milk) and sugar( dangote sugar) for my tea instead of that overly expensive st Louis sugar. I use made in nigeria tough sacks made by BAGCO Company instead of those fake Chinese sack bags. I must admit though that we still have a long way to go, we have to learn to support our own and I believe that very soon we will get there eventually and stop relying as a country on imported products.
Re: Why Nigerians Don't Patronize Made In Nigeria Products by Barigaboy(m): 7:28am On Aug 15, 2016
Production of fake product. The real meaning of fake is not opposite of Original but something that is not well produce n wouldn't last. U buy some Nigeria shoe when rainfall u find out It was made with thick paper

When Nigerians make a good product that is effective n people start patronizing it before u no it d manufacturer start reducing d size, increase d price n start reducing d quality that will make d product purchase go down.

Tribalism my ex wud leave d street as long as it is n start looking for calabar shop becos she is a calabar before she can buy anything. To her Igbos r dirty n Yorubas r worse n that was 1 of d reasons I dump her. I hate tribalism. Have visited Igboland several time we eat fresh food. I follow them out n learning some of there language

Sometimes its just becos we don't believe in ourself some of us will never believe in our product until a China person tell u he got the product from Nigerians

We don't value ourself we need outsiders to value us first. I went to perform in a show which I was put last. Some of my friends never value me. Until d Mc called my name n I was about to perform as I was stepping on stage d Mc sighted me n ask me to go back n re introduced me cos we ve met in some shows back. While I started performing. My friends were watching me. People I don't no at all rushed to d stage dancing with some strange babes before my friends started coming close n I was feeling like if dis people never like dis song dis friends wudnt leave there sit. I got to d studio d following day my producer who has been lazy owing me 5 songs uncompleted was making a new beat for me, entertained me start hyping me n I was surprise what was happening cos he only value himself. Just for me to find out he heard abt my performance n artiste from that show r patronizing him. He wanna prove he made my beat so he ask me to be following him out n I accepted.

Some of us take people for granted. When ever we r giving somethings to produce if fight doesn't come up we will not do d job.

Producing fake while some people eg would meet d hunter to get original lion skin to make a bag. Some stingy people will just pick d original bag. Pick a paper to draw lion skin n use it to make d exact bag but fake to reduce cost n wanting to sell it at dsame price that will lead to less patronage of d original.

Division of labour have made things easy for many others in other country but we are yet to fully tap into this in Nigeria, besides, we don't have much big factories in Nigeria. While so many company are competiting in terms of price. In Nigeria, they compare prices to determine their high price bcoz Nigeria product is almost always hihger than foreign product. Also, most product produce in Nigeria, that has no alternative (foreign) are always big problem for us. Take palm oil as an example, what happened? How did 5000 naira product turn yo 6000 naira product in few months? Nigerian product is there to just skin us except dangote. Thank u

Don't start early this morning with ur tribal cards. If a footwear or textile print finds its way to Aswani or Idumota market in Lagos, do they label it made in Aba or made in Kano? Isn't it made in Nigeria that is written on the label?
Anyways those tribalists are just being clever by half, why don't they also reject eating foods that come from the east or west or north.
U can say that again!
Re: Why Nigerians Don't Patronize Made In Nigeria Products by Exponental(m): 7:41am On Aug 15, 2016
Most of the good quality ones are expensive to produce and can therefore not compete with price of foreign ones. Production cost is too high in Nigeria. They therefore reduce quality to have a sellable goods thereby becoming inferior.
Imagine the cost of fueling the generator alone!!!

Why don't you write your article without dragging Innoson to it? Who told you that Innoson Motors does not offer after sales services to their customers?

There as been recent calls by the Government and concerned Nigerians calling on Nigerians to Buy Goods made in Nigeria so as to make the Naira Stronger. The fact still remains that Nigerians prefer to buy Foreign goods instead of Nigerian Made. Here are some of the reason why Nigerians have refused to buy Made in Nigeria Products

Discrimination
Sometimes we are our own problems. Most people see goods made in Nigeria as inferior and not up to standard to goods made in other country and as a result decide not buy Made in Nigeria Products . For those who are willing to purchase this made in Nigeria goods, get discriminated for example with sayings like ‘’Na Aba made the guy dey wear’’ and as a result of this stop buying made in Nigeria goods to avoid the embarrassment of wearing ‘Aba made’

Quality
No one will ever want to buy a product that is of low quality. Most made in Nigeria products are of low quality either as a result of the producers trying to make bigger profit or over management of resources. For instance you cannot expect a Nigerian to purchase a bag of rice which half of it is filled with stones and other dirt rather the Nigeria will prefer to purchase a bag of rice that is produced elsewhere and stone free.

Poor Advertisement/Awareness
Advertisement is king. Most Nigeria producers and manufacturers always fail to recognize the importance of advertising, how would a Nigerian know there are products produced in Nigeria, that satisfy their needs when the proper Advertisement is not done to bring the existence of such product to their notice. Since there is no awareness concerning such product, they will buy goods made outside Nigeria which proper form of advertisement and awareness is available for.

Price
Nigerian producers and manufactures are to be blamed for this. Sometimes they t want to make quick money or super normal profit and in the process increase the prices of their goods to the level of ones produced in other countries. Why will a Nigerian want to buy a good ‘X’ produced in Nigeria whose price is more than that which is produced outside Nigeria. Goods produced within the country should be cheaper and not outrageously high.

Poor After sales Services

If you purchase a Toyota Car today, be rest assured that there are many authorized outlets such as Elizade Motors where you can service or maintain your Toyota car in most parts of Nigeria. If for example you purchase an innoson vehicle which is produced in Nigeria but doesn’t have authorized servicing outlets where you can service or maintain the vehicle, you will definitely be discouraged to buy the innoson car produced in Nigeria and rather opt for the Toyota vehicles instead.

some people boarded aircraft and before the plan take there comes announcement that this aircraft is made here in Nigeria people started screaming and rushing down remaining only one man and it happened that this man is a professor and one gentle guy went in to ask if he heard about the announcement he said yes and told the guy that he is a professor and with what they teach students that the plane will not even fly not to talk of crashing as the people rushing down fears
Re: Why Nigerians Don't Patronize Made In Nigeria Products by AreaFada2: 8:28am On Aug 15, 2016
It is simply systemic/societal failure.

Not patronising local produce is just another symptom.

If the system was decent, authorities would regulate & properly police quality standards and that would restore confidence.
A working and progressing society would encourage more local companies to produce & foreign companies to produce locally.

Competition will naturally drive down prices. Companies will have to sit up and offer better after sale service to retain customers.

If local products compare favourably both in quality & price to imported ones, many will out of patriotism patronise local products.

When society works, other positive things follow.

See, the answer is just quality. Our manufacturers focus on market exploitation instead of quality service delivery. Before people started importing rice back in the day, you know how our local rice used to be? Before people started buying italian shoes, did you buy/wear Aba made shoes? Who would spend their hard earned money on some sub-standard product just in the name of patriotism?

I'm happy they are sitting up now. Nigerians want to buy our stuff. I want to buy our stuff. But they just don't make things easy for us. Even used (okirika) clothes last more than our locally made materials. So who is fooling who?

I read a story about whogohost yesterday and my heart bled. This is 2016 and we're still not able to have a hosting company that goes out of its way to protect clients' data. A lot of Nigerians like me use whogohost, but would you like to lose years of hardwork just because you patronized a local company that is grossly incompetent?

The competition is good to let our local manufacturers sit up. They have to know we are ready to buy from them but they have to do their homework first.

God bless Nigeria
Great points, but pls what did you read about whogohost? the owner is a personal friend so i can draw his attention to this? pls can you share or direct me to the article?

SOME of the problems I see are the standard of the stages of production, sales and after sales services are so bad. Even pricing at times is a scam!

Millions of Nigerians patronise made in naija goods. We shouldn't always jump into conclusion. How many people have the money to buy the so called foreign products. The only foreign goods most Nigerians buy are the ones that are probably not produced in naija. How many Nigerians can afford gucci, versace, prada and the likes.
Re: Why Nigerians Don't Patronize Made In Nigeria Products by olaolaking: 11:39am On Aug 15, 2016
It is not because of low quality, but it is because of class. I can bet it with you, I have seen Aba made shoes that has good quality and are perfectly made. You will even doubt if truly it's from Aba.

But we prefer something of class. We want to oppress. We want to use materials that common Femi, Chinelo, can not easily access in the market. We want to mention big brand so that they can respect us.

Don't tell me it is quality that makes Linda bought 14million naira bag.
What kind of quality is that? Is it fire resistance, or does she want to use it to carry timbers, or can she use it every day for the next 10 years?

But she does that only to show her class.
It is orientation and I have always said it. Of I have the power to change just one thing in Nigeria, it is orientation.

NOA should be scrapped. They never done anything
